Can Luke's last name be changed to Lars? It seems silly to hide him and keep his last name.

Seems like the deleted scenes are presented in thoroughly lackluster 480p. Someone who bought the set describes them as looking identical, going so far as to say he would not be surprised in they were ripped right from the commercial DVDs.

A YouTube channel (Almost) entirely devoted to creating animated clips of Chris Pine's face saying lines from Star Wars. As things go, that's pretty damn random. Curses, it's 3 years old, I want more of these.
What is this I don't even
No luck. A TF.N user reports all legacy content is presented in SD. No word on how it compares to the DVD in terms of gritty detail, but fundamentally the same.
A user at TF.N reports that all legacy content is presented in plain ol' SD. No word on how it compare to the DVD in terms of gritty, nitpicky detail.
Sometimes I wonder why I even try.

Sorry, I took "were" to imply maybe they're not. And I'm hoping at the very least it's a better encode from the SD master.

I could justify the purchase if the deleted scenes were HD, since I wouldn't know whether the mixes match till I go through the multi-step phase cancelation.
Are you waiting to find out, or do you know they're SD?
Is anyone in a position yet to report back on this?
Psst. Uh... guys? Hi, um.
Them PT deleted scenes? :P
I was about to retract my question once I found out they were talking about the description, not the product itself.
Any details about the presentation of the deleted scenes?
Even if the PT deleted scenes are only included in the new digital release in SD, it might be a superior source to the retail DVDs if it's from a master instead of literally from the DVD. Even if they aren't HD, I bet this upscaling method would yield great results for use in fan edits.
I would think Lucasfilm's SD master for the deleted scenes would at least be better than the reencode that got put on DVD. Y'know?

Would love to see Hal9000's edits with HD deleted scenes.
You bet, if they're going to be available. Adywan's words are a little discouraging. But we'll find out in a few days.
I'be got my fingers crossed for the PT deleted scenes from the DVD to appear in HD. They're listed under "legacy content," but hopefully sourced from a master and not just literally from the DVD.
I wonder if there's any possibility of seeing HD versions of the PT deleted scenes as part of the bonus material.
I'd be interested in scene 2; I've always felt it was the incorrect music.
I tried that approach once, but the results don't look very good at all. It might be the grain layer I slapped over top of the films. Piping the project through Compressor from within Final Cut looks great. But rendering it to a lossless file first looks terrible.
The time was ripe for ANH thanks to Harmy's Respecialized edition. I'm waiting for more sources. I'm thinking Kk650's ESB would do well as a base, with Adywan's version of the Emperor scene. (Technically this deviates from sticking with official releases. However, it does hybridize the original and '04 versions of the scene. It gets an exception.) And Harmy's ROTJ 2.0 is a must.
ESB won't vary much from kk650's, and ROTJ will be largely the original version. I may not release them if they end up being very similar to one particular version. But that won't be a question until the sources are released.
I like the good ol' "Dooku tosses a thing at Obi-Wan and Anakin" approach. Yoda shows up and nearly bests Dooku through ESB-type Force use, but loses due to his friends being put in danger. The joy inherit in the Yoda vs. Dooku saber duel is how bombastic it is. Like the youngling murder scene in Ep3, it's gotta be the whole thing or nothing.
Even though I'll deny it if you ask, I keep continuity with the broader EU (or whatever it is called now) in mind. I think showing a very quick use of Yoda's saber is a good middle ground, and does well to imply that we've seen the extent to which Yoda is able to perform physical feats.
"No pot is worth two slaves. Not by a longshot!"
"Mom, we sold the pot! Look at all the money we have."
It seems like that's the case. Star Trek implemented an explicit branching timeline device in order to preserve the old continuity as well as building a new one from a specified branching point.
Star Wars' "Legends" moniker carries the connotation that any or all of these may or may not be 'valid,' and they aren't subject to any hierarchy other than being lumped into one group. It wouldn't make sense to publish further series into a "Legends timeline," because there isn't one. Further Legends material may be possible, but it would implicitly be up to the reader to decide how it all fits together. There isn't, the way its being handled now, a robust framework to install new Legends stories into that would build on other Legends stories. If it happens, it would be messy and ambiguous.
I'm overstating it, but my point is to distinguish this approach from Star Trek's.
Have you considered applying this technique to the PT deleted scenes from the DVDs?
