Yes, that’s right.

Well, after a ton of hassle and setbacks, V8 is finally released. It’s primarily an update of the alternate (Padme Dies) version, but I included the few relevant tweaks for the main version as well.

This is it. Last time I will update LOE, and this is the final word on this project. I simply can’t do it again. Or, won’t, at least, but firmly.

People can still give feedback and stuff, but… this is the end. It’s done now. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this what it has become. But after I update COD to reflect TMWNN’s visual tweaks, I’m going to swear off working on these three prequel fan edit projects for life. I love them and all, but they need to be done.

For the main version, I further trimmed the elevator action, added sade1212’s FX shot of Palpatine unleashing the power of his face, reinstated two lines of dialogue during Anakin’s knighting, and took a slightly different approach with Anakin and Padme’s Mustafar conversation.

For the alternate version, I adjusted the sequence of scenes in the second act as described a few posts ago. I believe this holds faithful to what LOE has been from the start while fitting better with the theatrical ending in which Padme still dies.

Mainly forthcoming FX fixes from TMWNN. He announced doing so in his own threat and what he was doing seemed like I may as well just make it an official update.

Well, I probably wouldn’t have things like that be audible, large canon defining stuff.

But if someone sent me “I’m Jar Jar and I’m pooping my pants,” I’d still include it to maintain including something from everyone even if I’d bury it in the mix.

I’ll take it. Even though I would personally love a sort of fan editing curtain call of variations of people’s screen names as insert characters.

And hey, if you want your own voice I can make it part of the background chatter that isn’t audible clearly at all. There are dozens of audio clips in there and you can only clearly hear a small subset.

Also, anyone reading this who has not yet sent me an audio clip of them ‘signing in’ or whatever for the end battle, please do so that I can include you. I would love to have had every single person who contributed to this project be shoved into that sequence!

Faraday, thanks for that writeup, and it’s very affirming that the movie worked that well for you. I take it as a testament to the process we employed; it’s not like we all foresaw this and then made it happen, we just did what was good to do as we were able to.

Kinda makes me want to watch the Rey Nobody version of the movie, which I had not sat down and done yet. Well, there goes my evening I guess!

EDIT: Also, I want to assure you that I have not forgotten about V3, but I have been chipping away at the tedious aspects of preparing another project for release. Updating my edit of ROTS for what I fully intend to be the last time. Then at the moment, Ascendant V3 is the thing it makes the most sense to focus on next. (My TPM edit is due one final update, but The Man With No Name is working on FX for it as well as a new source I’d like to use for ANH.)

Best of luck, and I hope you succeed to your own satisfaction. I could say the same about myself having three go-rounds, except that 2 and 3 just happened contiguously.

Remove Han and Lando’s pre-existing friendship in ESB. Use an AI voice in just a few spots to recharacterize Lando as angry that Han, a known rebel figure, has shown up at his city.

Oh, and change his name to Rando.

Yeah, they’ll all three probably be updated again sometime or other. The OT is the most ripe for improvement in my mind out of my SW projects.

Does anyone know a way to have something auto-generate garbage subtitles like the ones you see on YouTube? If so, and if someone could generate them for the finalized episodes, perhaps they could be divided up among volunteers to take a few episodes each and proofread them along with the video/audio.

But yeah… I certainly wouldn’t wanna handle a behemoth task like that for the whole series, using the methods I usually use for my own stuff.
