^ My thought exactly. It probably doesn’t have a subtitle file, and you cropped the subtitles off in the conversion.
In the original file, do the subtitles appear in frame or inside ‘black bars’ beneath the frame?
Myspleen is current, and will be for the upcoming final version. You can also seek out a Reddit post of mine for a different way to get them.
Mean-spirited, too. They kill Leia, but they still have a lingering shot of her corpse in space, cutting away before she wakes up.
It’s a joke, just not a very funny one.
Episode IX
EPILOGUE
General Leia Organa has lost the will to live. After melting into the Force, the Resistance is without any hope as the First Order pursues them to the ends of the galaxy.
Ben Solo, the feared leader of darkness, is obsessed with finding the girl who defied him, and will not rest until Rey, the first of a new Jedi Order, has been destroyed.
Now, each side is prepared to fight each other until one or the other is summarily destroyed, thus ending STAR WARS, unless the defeated party should happen to rise again from an obscure part of the galaxy in a few decades’ time…
I can already feel being held to the fire for keeping the spacewalk scene.
I would expect to fade in the nighttime version somewhat, not going from 100% of one to 100% of the other. It might not work, just something to try.
I have no idea, myself. Perhaps the HDTV version is indeed a better source for this scene.
Idea: could you attempt sunset and nighttime versions? I wonder how it’d look to cross fade between these two over the course of the scene.
Just polishing, nothing major. The main impetus is the amazing crawl template Sir Ridley produced, so I’m just tweaking a little given the opportunity.
And thanks for Spanish subtitles! That’s a very nice extra. 😃
Not a problem. The one starting with “For a thousand generations” is the first one, then “Mired by greed and corruption.”
Here’s what I’ve got for v5:
Episode I
CLOAK OF DECEPTION
The Republic is in decay. After centuries of peace under the guardianship of the Jedi Order, a menace lurks in the shadows of the galaxy.
Attempting to capitalize on the government’s complacency, the greedy TRADE FEDERATION has surrounded the small planet of Naboo with a blockade of deadly warships.
With the newly crowned Queen desperate for help, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights to settle the conflict…
Thanks! Here are the subtitles for the final version of Episode III for now:
English: https://mega.nz/#!swkkQZCC!a-r8QciqSRU5e2zA3JZZyI8po_qsaLnNgiPVZXE2P90
French: https://mega.nz/#!UsMDHToa!xwsqyUNeCxpMYvKSQx5N-paqjY6JEzuBDqL7ExyJ2uM
Please note that the opening crawl has been changed, which is present in the French file but not the English. The crawl is as follows:
Episode III
LABYRINTH OF EVIL
After years of civil war, the Separatists have battered the faltering Republic nearly to the point of collapse. The fragile government is crumbling under attacks from the ruthless Count Dooku.
In a stunning move, the fiendish cyborg leader, General Grievous, has swept into the Republic capital and captured Chancellor Palpatine, leader of the Galactic Senate.
As the Separatist forces attempt to flee the besieged capital with their valuable hostage, Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker lead a desperate mission to rescue the captive Chancellor…
I love the image used. Luke looks distorted but it’s just such a poor image. Surreal.
Weird, as I’m sure I used the same method to output the file. Compressor 3 gave me a .mov of the PCM audio, which Audacity was happy to export as a .wav.
Seems like BluRay audio is shrouded in fog.
If someone were to send me a converted version that would work for most intents and purposes, I can replace the wav file.
Is there some way to get the Spanish subtitles of this and/or your other PT edits? Or at least the English subtitles in an independent file so I can translate it myself.
I suggest you PM MalàStrana, who created the subtitles. I am currently working on a final version of these three edits, and he is planning to do subtitles for those as well. I can’t speak for his workflow for this, but it may be that he could provide you with finished (synced) English subtitles and you could translate these to Spanish. That would be a welcome addition to this final version, if you are willing.
So far I have sent him a screener for Episode III so he can sync the subtitles, with Episodes I and II coming after.
The 8.5GB 720p version should appear within 15 minutes, thus concluding this whole sha-bang.
It’s the ‘tiny encode’ version, about 1GB. The conventional 720p version will be about 9GB.
After your diligent work, I hope you are able to export it as its full capacity before you get rid of the source material. I just spotted it on the 'spleen, and am looking forward to checking it out. I expect it will serve very well to have on hand as an alternative to suggest to people for whom the alteration in my edit to Padme’s fate would be a stumbling block.
I wonder if any edition will use the more painted style artwork, I think it’s the Dolby Cinema one.
Anyway here’s a thing redacted by moderator
In for a hearty LOL before it’s removed by mods due to its source.
Yes, it too is located within the Google Drive folder linked to on the ‘red… it’ site. It’s a .wav file, as pure of an output as I can provide.
Better than I’d feared the day before yesterday, anyway. It’s doable, and I have got Episodes I and III where I want them, other than plugging in video improvements from NeverarGreat, DominicCobb, and/or Sir Ridley. (Crawls, day-for-night scene, Boleyn footage, etc.) They ought to be a very worthwhile V4.3/5 in order to put this baby to bed.
Just downloaded it and I’m scanning through.
Was there a reason that the updated X-wing approach shot wasn’t used?Ugh, are you kidding me? That’d be my bad. I honestly can’t see the difference, even now, so even though I looked at everything, I did not notice anything there. I’m genuinely good with leaving it as is unless you feel like a substantial improvement is being missed out on.
Honestly it’s fine to leave it, I would just put the update in Starlight at some point anyway.
I appreciate your honesty. I apologize once again, though I mean it as a compliment that both versions seem perfectly seamless to me. I don’t feel like anything at all is missing from what has been put out there the past 2 days, using the original version of your shot.
The 720p suffered a problem, which I saw when I woke up, though I know its cause (subtitles cause it to not encode entire video) so I’m reencoding now (and will mux subtitles in afterward). Hopefully no more than a day.
JEDIT: Handbrake takes a long time to encode, but the results are unparalleled.
EDIT: Disregard
