We could always make it into a movie ourselves. Win/win.

Technical note, the sound gets weird when the dart is supposed to hit her. You don’t hear the dart,
I used Hal 9000’s edit as a source, I think I’ll add it back in
Had to go check; my edit has it and everything’s fine. :0
Episode IX: The Star Wars That Almost Wasn’t But Then Was
I have a sound bar & subwoofer for my 4k TV. The downside is that there’s not much to the sound when it comes to bass in the mono track, which is a bummer, considering I preferred watching it in mono.
On a side note, compared to 1.0 the results are night & day. 4k77 1.4 looks even better.
I wonder if mixing the LFE track from Hairy_Hen’s 5.1 mix into the mono track would be ass.
Hadn’t seen Rogue One in a while, I guess. Weird choice, then.
Well, both; the original film is like that and yours is, too. Presumably it was like that in theaters, unless it was a home video mastering error.
Just a minor thing: why is the Lucasfilm logo and ALTAIAGFFA title card at the beginning of this film so much smaller than the others?? When I watched it the first time, which was at home, I thought it was configured incorrectly.

In this new narrative the Resistance has essentially sacrificed the Republic capitol to find Luke and turn Kylo.
I can’t help but agree. It’s a very clever write-up, but it would sacrifice the elegance of the original Restructured idea.
Sorry I’m late to the party, what exactly was changed in v3
As Finn mans the TIE fighter with Poe, trimmed firing upon fellow stormtroopers so soon after planning to escape. Now, he causes peripheral damage to prevent them from firing at him and takes aim at the command center. (Slightly shifted the placement of the film’s trademark Wilhelm scream in order to retain it.)
Removed Kylo Ren identifying Finn’s stormtrooper ID from memory.
Removed Rey saving Finn from the rathtars, cutting from Finn’s line, “They look like that,” to Han and Chewie arriving at the door to the Falcon.
Removed Finn’s comedic line about almost being killed several times by Chewie while tending to him on the Falcon (Mimicked DigModiFicaTion’s approach).
Removed Han shooting a stormtrooper while facing the other way.
Throughout the battle at Maz’s castle, applied a slight sunset color correction to harmonize the sunset lighting present before and afterward.
Cleaned up the smoke and debris around the Starkiller weapon exhaust when the X-Wings approach. (FX by NeverarGreat)
Removed Finn’s comedic moment of misunderstanding Han’s head nod while searching for Rey (Mimicked DigModiFicaTion’s approach).
Moved Kylo Ren’s scar to match TLJ for two shots (FX by Sir Ridley)
Chewie has been cropped out of a shot of him walking past Leia. (Crop and image enhancement by Sir Ridley)
Color corrected Ach-to to bring it a little closer to the corresponding scene’s lighting and weather conditions in The Last Jedi.
I’ll bet! Well, we have a lovingly crafted manual version, at any rate.
I love that transition at the end to the next scene!
I find that it’s better to stick with the SE battle of Yavin throughout.
If Tony can still do it (or at least a voiceover) whenever they get around to an Episode X-XII trilogy, I would hope that it involves R2 and 3PO several decades or perhaps a century following this trilogy. If not, just R2.
Hal why not flip the boba fett shots in Jabbas Palace? Just curious.
Flipped shots are your friends; they are done for reasons as part of the editing process. They aren’t mistakes, in other words. They imply direction, albeit at the cost of visual continuity. I have never been bothered by that aspect of filmmaking; it’s just what you do sometimes, especially if the film in question isn’t a modern, big-budget CGI endeavor.
I really admire Adywan’s two ‘Revisited’ projects, but personally I find the resultant film as having a very different feel to what I remember. It’s hard to settle down and just enjoy it because it’s so different throughout. I grew up with the 1997 SE originally, so perhaps what I feel is what some felt when viewing the SE when it came out. But, I am more than okay with the little quirks involved in making a movie like flipped shots.
Yeah, the sentry droid has been removed in both its instances since that earlier clip was posted. Even for a SE alternative version, it’s rather distracting from the action.
Octorox, the Falcon will be depicted as being in hyperspace for that scene, thanks to snooker in the thread Ash linked to. So no problem there.
This is the one change I’m including that oversteps the project’s goals. However, it’s non-arbitrary, seems to me at least. What can I say? I have to go with my gut in the end.
FWIW, if Revisited is supposed to be a ‘desert island’ version (rather than an alternative to the originals on one’s shelf), I would recommend keeping the eyebrows. If not, I think the ‘no eyebrows’ approach is nice for a Special Edition or alternative version.
Feels right to me. I used Adywan’s old color corrected HDTV master for my ESB project which he timed to the 1997 SE precisely because those colors feel more right to me than anything else. I grew up with pan-n-scan 1997 SE VHS tapes, after all.
I don’t really have any technical suggestions, but those caps look great to my eyes.
I appreciate your attention to detail, though I think it need not be a 100% match given how stylistically different TFA and ANH portray similar things. Obviously, I’m happy to give feedback and try to be as hard-nosed as I would be if I were doing it myself.
From my thread:
Something that came to mind watching that recent lightspeed footage from inside the cockpit and watching Adywan’s. I notice you see the blue lighting effect from the lightspeed light lighting up the cockpit. Watching Adywan’s edit I notice how he also applied it on the shot Han say’s “Stand by Chewy here we go, cutting the sublight engines.” It would be cool tp see that effect continuity.
Or keep one eyebrow and remove the other.
They can’t be blended because they use different sources. The only reason the surrounding shots can be averaged is because they are aligned pixel perfect by virtue of each being a color corrected BluRay.
NeverAr’s feels much more right than Adywan’s (his color corrected starting point, to be fair), and still removes the mountainside.
I’m going to use NeverArGreat’s shot of the twin sunset, which he sourced from film and manually re-created the mountainside removal. For the surrounding shots, I think averaging out his and Adywan’s color correction looks very pleasing. Neither version or combination is a good match for the sunset shot itself, but doing it this way feels right.

Dre, let me know if I can help in any way if you decide to do this.
That goes for me, too. If you wanted to transmit me the output, I could handle distribution, etc. according to whatever specifications you’d have.
Anything to help enable you. 😉
Star Wars’ lore is so vast that I can already bet there’s a name for that creature which ended up as Teebo’s helmet.
Its name was Ray.
