Ah, I see, thank you.
Ah, I see, thank you.
Seems promising so far. I’m going through carefully, clip by clip, reapplying settings and filters. The order of shots and clips seems to be mostly sound, though some are sporadically missing. All in all, should at least be possible to export, even though it’ll take some work. I don’t know what happened with FCP7 when I upgraded to a SSD, but the exports were going exponentially slowly.
No, by ALL means, keep it up. You’re the civilian forces that show up at the end of the battle.
Just spent $20 in the Mac App Store to get ‘SendToX’ to attempt to migrate existing FCP7 projects over to FCPX, at least to get things exported I’ve done so far. I guess I’ll almost have to use FCPX going forward, even if I want to occasionally dip into 7 to do tricky audio stuff.
No guarantees. Wish me luck.

Seems to work pretty well. I wish I had more time and quiet to be able to give more feedback for the moment.
Hmmm, that’d probably be a bit much.
While I like that moment, I’ll admit the moment works totally fine without it.
It seems to only be using one core. Can’t be helped. I’ll just be patient and leave it alone. But it puts me further from doing much with TROS.
I do like how subtle, even subliminal, it is.
Wonderful! Thanks for doing that.
InitAbsolute, thanks for understanding. I’d say stand by and check in once in a while because I’m sure we will have ideas that may depend upon some FX work.
And, Chase, that’s pretty cool! It’s subtle. And almost for that reason alone, why not go with it?
We will see. Thanks for the camaraderie. For now I’ll just export chunks at a time into ProRes, and then I can use FCPX to presumably encode it easily from that point. Just might take a while.
BUT, that ought to be it for all except 6 and 9.
Good gravy, I decided to export TFA in chunks, and about the first 1/5 of the movie is gonna take about 48 hours to render, let alone converting to DVD and BluRay streams after that. I don’t know why but there’s no other option but to just let it take that long. Same for TLJ. But at least I won’t be screwed if it’s interrupted and I could do other things in between renders. I can’t reinstall FCP7, so I’m just stuck like this.
That’s what nearly decade-dead software will do to you.
Looks good! Ridley did the crawls for my other edits, so if he’s willing I’d like to have him do a crawl for this one, too.
And don’t apologize for discussing the opening! I may not really be able yet to do much, but this thing is going to be extremely community-driven.
I’m having some real trouble exporting from FCP7. I don’t know what’s causing it and I cannot reinstall the software on my OS, only carry forward from already having it installed on older OS.
So I might just try the “work on something else and try again later” approach for now. 😕
I like the lava ring. Ideally, and this would be way out there for us, the action would be taking place within that circle. But even so, it’s a striking enough visual to plausibly be an establishing shot for an environment.
Looks perfect.
I like this idea. Could you do me a favor and scale up the rainbows then drop the opacity way way down? Curious what that’d look like.
Something like this or even more subtle?
That’s nice! The double-ness of the rainbow even ties nicely into the whole twins thing.
No, a version where the physical him sees ghost him.
Joke fail, I was just kidding.
I’d just also request a version where he is present simultaneously physically and as a ghost.
Or maybe brighten or pink-ify the added footage to roughly match the look of the main footage. Or if you reuse Vader’s castle, possibly with Krennic’s shuttle removed, do the same to make its atmosphere feel the same as what follows. (I’m sure the planet still had lava, right?)
That, along with the crawl mentioning his “grandfather’s” wayfinder, would be pretty neat. Makes it feel less arbitrary that “two were made,” since it’d be more clear that there was one for each of two Sith.
I do like the concept and that’s not a bad mockup at all. Nice find with the volcanic footage!
Oh, and should Kylo’s scar from TLJ be further healed for that brief moment on the bridge?

What do you have in mind for your project about the Sith fleet?
When Leia is dropped off on Alderaan in ROTS there is a double rainbow in the sky, so something subtle to that effect may be nice for that reason, too.
Was it something done as an effect or was it the natural weather on location?
