Lol, nice. Thanks! I’m sure I’ll find other uses for it.
Lol, nice. Thanks! I’m sure I’ll find other uses for it.
I like moving Rey’s repeat of “nothing’s impossible” to right as she’s heading away. Seems more like she sincerely agrees with the reminder rather than petulantly deflecting it.
I’m not sure, but I might do two versions: Rey Palpatine and Rey Nobody.
In Palpatine version, it’s sort of addressed by Kylo saying “you were right… your parents were no one… they chose to be to protect you.” It’s still a “certain point of view” thing. But her mother won’t say “she isn’t on Jakku she’s gone” because my version of TLJ doesn’t require them to die on Jakku.
In Nobody version, I think it’d have to be that they truly were drunkard deadbeats who get killed. Rey feels angry that her parents were killed in principle, even if they weren’t great. She probably still has a sense of wishing for them, even if it was always sort of wishful thinking on her part.
Sounds delicious.
Not that I’d want to actually put it into a ‘desert island’ version of ROTJ, but I’d be interested in seeing a DSII explosion that could even potentially allow for its wreckage as seen in TROS.
Looks great! With Luke stable, I think that portion is perfect now.
I wouldn’t want her to glow purple any further, but here it looks like it’s just the glow from the saber.
I guess Luke was acting rashly, against his masters’ insistence. Whereas Rey is like a new Force messiah. Just different situations.
I think Rey glowing is more appropriate than a shield that doesn’t deflect anything.
Or to cause one. (A) Palpatine’s shenanigans begin again.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised to learn you’re a big-shot pro! Thanks for sharing that. We’re glad to have you around.
I don’t disagree. I had the aim of trying to tie it into TLJ.
Not at all. I haven’t found a crawl I really like yet, so it could change anyway by the end.
Did people who grew up with movies in PAL feel like they were slowed down when switching to HD.
PM sent
That looks very nearly flawless! Within the maximum nitpick zone, when they first appear it still looks like Luke was caught off guard and is getting into position.
Obi-Wan looks perfect now. Yoda is right, looking as we just saw him a movie ago. Anakin is recognizable, but the footage isn’t, and Luke has the right look and expression.
Terry, welcome. Thanks for the idea. Personally I like restricting the ghosts to those we’ve seen already, and adding more starts to make it questionable. It’s a way to still sort of harmonize with what the end of ROTS seems to want to say. Not drawing a hard line, but that’s my read on it. I’m glad we get to hear Qui-Gon, but I don’t need to see him.
It can look like this
Well we won’t rush him though.
Especially after sitting through a marathon of Episodes 1 through 8 beforehand.
Wowee, that’s good! Not done yet, but what an idea.
Showing all four again might work, but I know the rumors had Luke and Leia appearing in that moment in particular, empowering their respective sabers, in a way. Might that be good to test out too?
Wonderful.
Skenera, thank you. There may be a small bit of work yet if ghosts are added to a few shots, but this is a very welcome change. It makes more of a difference than I thought it would when it was first brought up.
I like the color, it doesn’t have to be identical to Windu’s.
I reckon. Do they look that different?
Hard to argue with that. It’d be very ‘Thrawn Duology.’
Wow, hmm. That’d have been a great idea in the writing phase, while keeping most else about the movie as is.
And, RogueLeader, yes! That sounds very plausible to accomplish (easy for me to say), and fills in a much needed gap. In the theater I quipped to my brother that Mace Windu should have grabbed a second lightsaber and ended it right then. As if that was the mistake.
Letting the Skywalkers band together to do Palpatine in would feel better and tie into the ending and title. If Rey is basically on a journey to wrap up the Skywalker story rather than really further her own, as seems inescapable, this at least makes something of this scene.
Man, give Daisey a post-TROS Disney+ series. Continue the story, because the sequel trilogy now feels like it was all setting something up, not concluding what came before. If they’re deliberate about moving beyond the Skywalker stuff, let Rey’s story keep going. And we could probably craft a fake Episodes X, XI, and XII out of it.
It was in snooker’s thread, but he mocked up adding Theed to the horizon, adding the Gungan head statues into the background, and maybe even ducks. Sound design can be overlaid to some exterior scenes. Maybe add one or two gungan extras to the briefing.
So it’s not a sure thing but he’s presented a compelling proof of concept for a plausible idea.
Here’s a question (from the color blind guy)
As for Palps getting electrocuted (again) but this time explodes … I was thinking, what if the lighting going BACK to him is a different color, maybe purple? White?
Why?
Though it is still kinda lame, in a sense, that Palps AGAIN gets defeated by his own lighting. But what if it was more “special” … or maybe Jedi-powered. Using Jonh’s force ghosts being introduced, the view COULD assume it was being returned with more of a Jedi Ghost finisher. I don’t know if that sounds lame or anything … but it would be neat to try and add some more depth to this final battle then Palps getting zapped by his own lighting. Again.
I like it. Or the room could go dark and then reveal he was nonexistent the whole time!
Well… no.
Oh, what about slightly yellow? If Rey’s lightning that kills Chewbacca were yellowish, then the Palpy killing lightning is yellowish, her yellow saber would signify an integration of her inner darkness while distancing herself from what was written as a link to Palpatine.
(And we still need that slight crackle between his fingertips in the opening sequence removed. Not because it’s technically a problem, but I can’t help but feel it’s there to link hand lightning with Palpatine’s subtly before we see Rey use it later.)
