I’m open in principle but skeptical it could be totally seamless.
I’m open in principle but skeptical it could be totally seamless.
I don’t think so for this project, but I sincerely agree its an interesting idea I wouldn’t mind see explored!
And, if the source material were there for the “more than a clone” line I’d be all for it. But the off the cuff microphone>speaker>phone recording we have to work with just isn’t there. 😕
I do think that TROS:A as it is presents at least a better version of Palpatine returning, with a bit less muddy water. It’s more clearly implied he’s a clone than in the original.
I don’t mind posting ideas here! Especially if this project is idir’s TROS ‘home base’ for now.
I don’t think I would want to go that route, though. Luke appears as he walks out of the ship, and a static shot of him waiting to do so seems to undermine what that shot is trying to do.
I would have liked MORE Luke in the movie, though!
In other news, I have a crawl from Sir Ridley now. I think whenever snooker is happy with the Naboo shot, another workprint will be in order.
Not bad! Axlanian can record and process original lines, also.
Anyone have any ideas for dialogue for the troopers speaking with 3PO? The 3PO line is currently “Excuse me, sir, might you direct us to—-“
Need two brief lines, neither in direct 3PO’s unfinished question.
Mmmm… TPM marketing nostalgia. Makes me feel cozy.
I wouldn’t mind stumbling onto a copy of the ‘Episode I Scrapbook’ sometime. I like images of the pre-coverings C-3PO. That was the first SW figure I ever got.
Okay, but can we keep the music transition?
I don’t think so. The way it is in the workprint feels natural to me, moreso than your clip. It just seems to go on a note or two longer than it should.
Hmm, it’d potentially mess up the music to shift it forward but might be worthwhile to just see how it plays. I’d be surprised, though.
It’d certainly be in keeping with the rest of the movie for a fast paced ending shot!
I don’t think so, guys. I don’t think it really belongs there, so I’m gonna cut that off.
I’ll get ready to dodge tomatoes.
Personally, I find it more compelling to see Anakin redeemed and becoming the person he should have been, which in ROTJ is Shaw, rather than an apparent regression to before he made the final few steps to turning evil.
Q2 did it before. And The Cutter did it first. And it only looks good because of Sir Ridley.
But yeah, wow that was a few years ago by now.
Is this the end of the story?
It is.
I think my favorite was “Is the Falcon yours now?”
I can try mocking it up, but I feel the scene is better as it already is. It’s cool, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t intended to fill that role and it feels off in that context.
Although, while a shot LIKE that would be nice, that particular shot doesn’t particularly scream end of movie. Rey doesn’t look emotional either.
And that Falcon interior shot could be replaced with the trailer shot of Leia, then merely overlaid onto the shot of the Falcon taking off from Tatooine. Maybe.
Something like this: https://vimeo.com/436637519
Here’s poppasketti’s recent TIE animation implemented with audio. This is, of course, for option A, which I am pretty well resolved toward now.
The earlier shot would have to be removed and dealt with. It’s not necessary, and the music choice wouldn’t probably fit with two new shots. It could be attempted in the name of trying it, though.
FWIW, I started messing around with this stuff at 13. Granted it was editing and messing with audio, not visual FX work.
PM sent
Could I also get a link, please? Thanks!
Just sent you a PM.
Oh yeah, and if anyone so inclined wishes to add a distant Vader’s castle to the reverse shot when Kylo picks up and looks at the Wayfinder, I won’t try to stop you.
However cool that would be, it’s not necessary, and I’m happy merely to namedrop Mustafar in the crawl. That’s enough to tie it into Vader and make sense why there were two: one for the master and one for the apprentice.
I don’t mind that they have hyperdrives, but they seem to instantly track the Falcon like it’s nothing. In TLJ it took a capital ship to do so with at least a little delay. Just seems like JJ dialed it up to 13 again.
That’s different from an Empire TIE with a hyperdrive. That just feels wrong given ANH’s implication, no matter what the rationale may be later.
Yeah poppasketti has mocked up the TIEs swerving away without entering hyperspace, and plans to add polish. It’ll be great!
No, I don’t think so. It’s fine.
Yeah, poppasketti, that’s wonderful as is. My idea for perfection is that the second that they see the Falcon jump to lightspeed, they immediately turn about in order to head back to the Destroyer they presumably came from in order to quickly move or take further action from there. It’s like, “Shit, immediately head back because we’re done here and time may be of the essence.”
