The one-frame error has been corrected, and the edit has been reuploaded to everywhere it was.

That’s right, to just let Palpatine simply want to kill her without a reveal about wanting her alive, which… doesn’t really seem to impact the plot much.
The AI voices takes it into Jeff Goldblum territory of focusing on whether we should rather than just whether we could. It’s a good position to be in, though!
Awesome, thanks so much!
Still hoping for a good 3PO line as he bullshits the stoormtroopers as they escape from the destroyer.
Thanks, all. I’ve continued to have very little time to dedicate to this kind of stuff, but I’ll note this on my list.
And yes, your #2 philosophy is right on.
Sounds very good indeed.
To step back a little for a moment, I’m wanting to avoid overuse of AI not just because it risks not totally working but because at this point we’re entering a whole new kind of fan editing. This project is the finale of what for me has been a lengthy journey, and I am comfortable letting it come to rest mostly on the older side of that line.
If I woke up and found that I had Rip Van Winkle’d my way forward fifty years and I could have AI easily pull just about anything
audio or visual out of thin air easily to the standard of a 1080p presentation of a 2019 blockbuster… I don’t think I’d redo my fan edits or dream up a hugely alternate Star Wars narrative.
To reign things back in, the line sounds perfect and has been something others have wanted to hear. I’ve never actively wanted the line to be included, though. I’ll consider it and see what discussion happens about it here. Thanks for doing it, and can you send a link for the raw audio?
I literally don’t remember what takes place in that little scene but I’ll take another look.
And as for Leia merely saying Ben’s name, I assume it’s (all that they had in archived recordings to draw from and) meant to mirror Han calling out his name to pierce through and grab his attention in TFA.
I used and continue to use Final Cut Pro 7 for this project. But I use FCPX for newer ones.
bbghost, thank you so much for the honest feedback. I agree in that I wish to keep the AI to a minimum and only using it when necessary.
That said, I implore you to share the specific lines that stood out to you, and especially those that stood out to your mom.
Not sure if anyone has caught this yet but at around 1:15:30 there’s a stray frame of the Ahch-To establishing shot before it cuts to Finn/Rose.
Good eye. Really good eye. What I am going to do is fix it in my timeline and the ProRes video output, so that it is fixed in the event I ever do another update.
Yeah the first version had Jabba gone, but I realized it’s not consistent with the overall sensibility that one would have already seen the OT while watching the PT (which the films themselves clearly share). The first version was watched with a relative who’d never seen SW and was young, so I think that biased me toward tucking Jabba away as a surprise.
And the commentary tracks I have manually adjusted sync with subsequent versions so there are a few things like that which don’t match.

“Because you’re a Palpatine? Nobody can claim those the Force made. That choice belongs to you.”
I think something along these lines would work well.
It just sounds like Luke is making the force extremely partisan, in a way very different from his TLJ attitude. (But not in a good way.)
It’s your project, though! That’s just my opinion on it.
The only issue with the Ach-to scene
I have is that it doesn’t feel right for Luke to say “the force created us in order to kill this particular rat bastard.” Could this be hinted at less literally? A little more ‘mysterious ways’?
Something maybe like “The Force is what hands us our destinies.” Idk
Yes, I didn’t include that Leia line because it’s already done!
And I’ll note that Luke line.
Here’s everything that I’m currently considering for a V5, none of which I can’t live without.
***Potential V5 Changes if there is one:
Mute hero dialogue right after KoR evil photoshoot shot(s) for a moment of nothingness instead of pointless dialogue (very minor, not important)
Possibly add a line like “Leia sensed it during your training” to reintroduce a hint that Leia knew about Rey being a Palpatine (I still don’t love the idea; this one I’m ambivalent on)
Add Zorri line about Luke.
Possibly Zorri lines to make Poe an undercover cop (this seems to undermine the “reveal” about his past, so this one is a mixed bag)
Open to replacement lines for “I’m a highly trained resistance spy” for 3PO
New take for “very important mission” 3PO line to take advantage of better AI voice than we had at the time
Movie Leia and Snap scene back where it was in theatrical
Nev’s idea to use more of the whole buffalo with the chess game
Possibly add a line from Kylo saying that the dagger revealed to Rey what happened to her parents, as this would tidy up the edges of us uncoupling the two things to begin with in order to remove the compass moment (but in a sort of clumsy way)
If for some reason work was impossible to continue, I’m very happy with V4 as it is.
If there’s a V5 it won’t be immediate, as I’ll want to make sure that it ends up being final.
Hard to say for certain, but there very well may be a V5 down the line.

The simple answer is that the Alternate version has no story reason to modify the birthing scene.
And I’m afraid I cannot contemplate making further tweaks to the prequels aside from the all-but-ready update to Ep1 that I’m waiting on TMWNN for. They were started in 2014, and even then they were a revived effort from 2005. I’m utterly out of steam for these three particular projects.
This may come off as nitpicky, but I just noticed for the first time in the end credits of Empire Strikes Back Revisited that at the very end, you spelled “unauthorized” as “unauthorised.” I know it’s because you’re British, and I know it’s a very tiny thing, but that’s not how it was spelled in the original credits, so could you please change the “s” to a “z” for the Blu-Ray?
I feel bad that Adywan had to read that.

I’ve added the quarters duel dialogue removal to my to-do list.

You have my sword.
I honestly don’t remember the reasoning at this point, as it was close to a decade ago. I think it felt more right for the DS to be there due to audience expectations even though the movie didn’t need it.
