I could dial the pink back since it’s barely purple anyway. Feels very Easter.

I’ll make sure of those two things, thanks!
EDIT: redacted
Too bad, the GOUT standard was so nice to have for so long. Personally I’d rather omit less than 5 frames across a movie in order to retain it, but I get it.
I put out two versions of my ESB and ROTJ audio projects for both GOUT and theatrical. For ANH I found it so inconsequential, being a frame or less toward the end of the film.
Hmm. Neither of those were due to any of our fan intervention. Must be like “Tell Uncle if he gets a translator be sure it speaks Bocce” or “I wonder if me means old Ben Kenobi”.
Well, it’s important that the whispers come from the dagger, different whispers, to justify its importance apart from the compass.
Here’s what I intend as the final look and ordering of the Ach-To sequence. I tried to add a very subtle purple to the sunrise. (Any footage before or after the sequence is not color corrected in this clip, nor is the saber flashback.)

Nah, I don’t think adding more overt whispers adds to the moment, nor the super short extra shot.
And I don’t see a good reason to open up a can of worms by destroying the Taintive.

I’m Kirk! I don’t have a pool but my neighbor has a pool table.
5’9-10”
Didn’t quite have enough time to upload another pass at Ach-To during a (staff meeting), complete aside from any identified issues. Will do this evening!

When you back up and look at the whole thing, I’m pretty amazed by what we’ve been able to pull off. And I’d rather avoid changes that could potentially break immersion into the edit.
Hey, Adywan does wonderful stuff and even though his edits won’t ever be my personal go-to’s they’re uber-impressive, like a fun remix. (I guess maybe they feel too different, I don’t know.)
I can be pretty anally retentive too, but not usually about the technicality of the visuals. Plus I wouldn’t know how to go about 99% of what he does for his edits or perhaps I would!
If it’s the left and center tracks that have the line, say, then you might be all right to copy and paste the right audio channel and perhaps a different combination of the rear channels for each. And maybe add a touch of it to the right channel too so it doesn’t stand out.
You can get it pretty convoluted but it’s whatever works. Just preview the front and rear channels separately to make sure they sound seamless separately and not just altogether.
It’s the kind of thing that happens all the time when editing a movie. I dunno what more to say about it.
And about the “random First Order patrols,” I think if you removed that line from the sequence the way we have it laid out, it would make the trooper come out of nowhere even more so than in the original. And that trooper has to be there because it’s how we meet Lando.
If you removed the line and reverted the sequence to the theatrical, suddenly the First Order are able to arrive comically quickly after analyzing the necklace.
I think the current implementation is the best approach, all things considered.
And now that I’ve been able to actually take a look at the scene where Rey goes to get the, ahem, SACRED JEDI TEXTS during the Palpatine speech sequence, you’d really have to zoom way into it to be able to remove the saber. It’s just a little continuity error. There are hundreds in SW, so I’m not going to fret about it.
Pleeeeease, let’s take it elsewhere. Force healing isn’t going anywhere for Ascendant.
Is anybody familiar with moving audio lines to the side while still keeping the music intact? I’m trying to remove Rey grabbing the books in the middle of the Resistance meeting discussing Palpatine’s message for the following reasons:
- Rey’s lightsaber is seen prominently on her even though she just gave it to Leia.
- The Jedi texts were left by Rey on a crate, but when she returns to them they are suddenly in the box.
- A line plays in the background that is contradictory to the original trilogy. It suggests that the galaxy always knew about Palpatine’s Force abilities.
Any help would be appreciated in this endeavor. If we can get this working right I think Hal would be more interested in it.
I don’t doubt it’d be doable, that’s not the issue. The first thing to try would be to edit out the portions of relevant audio from the channels in which it appears, then cover that with stuff from other channels. Sometimes you can get more mileage out of adding audio from multiple other channels to avoid a direct repeat of just one channel.
Hal’s already said he doesn’t mind the line or the continuity error so I don’t see a reason to continue this topic here.
JEDIT: To be clear, I will see if a simple crop can remove the saber from the shot. If not, oh well.
Cool. Could you send whatever you come up with my way even if you decide not to use it? The crop feature on my editing software is terrible. Doesn’t let you select precise number amounts.
Sure, if it seems halfway decent but I decide not to go with it for whatever reason.

Yes, I don’t plan to remove the little cutaway or line so let’s move this over to the main thread please.

Palptine seems pretty giddy at the end about his Sithhood.
“Nothing will stop the (secret) return of the Sith!”
To be fair, he was like that in ROTS too.
I think the line in question takes place as the character is offscreen or in the extreme background, right?
I guess this movie makes it ‘canon’ that there were always rumors he wanted to cheat death, eh?
Beats kneeling at my computer which I literally did for a few weeks. But the only feasibly chance most of the time to sit and work is when everyone else is asleep.
I should be able to do audio for that moment pretty easily. Haven’t been able to sit down at my computer the last few days but I’ll work on it when I can!
(yes this is real)
Can’t wait.
I don’t really know what that means, but does that spell any implications for those subtitles? lol
