As Luke uses the Force to raise his X-Wing for Rey on Ach-To, a door panel from his hut floats horizontally over to it.
As Luke uses the Force to raise his X-Wing for Rey on Ach-To, a door panel from his hut floats horizontally over to it.
I don’t feel like it’s a substantial issue. If I’m thinking like that I’d have an issue with the idea that his X-wing even works at all being dumped underwater like that for years.
Honestly, I don’t think anything we’d do to TLJ or TROS would really reconcile things anyway. Door panel aside, the plot of TLJ itself implies that Luke could not have flown his fighter, otherwise he would have to Crait. (Logistics or travel time be damned; Star Wars has always moved at the speed of plot.) This story necessity, moreso than the door, poses the incongruity.
I’ll put this under the category of “if anyone does want to produce this I’ll consider it but otherwise won’t think about again.”
An insert shot drawing attention to this strikes me as unnecessary. The Falcon get shot at and we find in the next sequence there’s something broken. I mean, it might not hurt if done in a way that feels organic. But it seems like a lot of effort for someone to go through.
When Zorri Bliss is revealed to be part of the enormous civilian fleet at the end of TROS, it is no longer Babu Frik that pops up in her fighter. Since Kijimi isn’t destroyed, the spot goes to Nambi Ghima.
Having Ben and Owen talk about Anakin “getting involved” would make the pedantic nerd in me very happy.
As for the discussion of the 2 vs 3 Mustafar establishing shots, I sometimes have to remind myself that the Yavin base in ANH got 8 consecutive establishing shots.
lol, played it in my head while making sound effect and counting on my fingers.
Thanks, Burbin!
I could take a lot of those. Man, what a difference a handful of those would make.
Congratulations, man! What an accomplishment!
I don’t think it’s necessary but I’d be interested to see how it shaped up if you pursue it. But I don’t foresee really going for it for this project.
I don’t think it’d be egotistic at all to use your name. You are putting your own words and spin on it more intimately than most fan editors can with that medium.
Ah, okay, gotcha. That could work fine. I can’t remember, but was that Finn line already in that scene or did you cull it from elsewhere?
That’s right, it’d take something compelling to crack it open again, as it accomplished everything I wanted it to.
That said, I don’t really see how or why it’d be important to shoehorn Snoke and Ben into the sequence.
Make this the ending to Episode I:
Make all Sith die by their own hand. In ROTS, Dooku jumps off that balcony, only to land and cause his head to fall off. I guess Vader already does, and Palpatine in ROTJ doesn’t count anymore. Palpatine in TROS could fry himself perhaps, with Rey turning off her sabers as he keeps pouring the juice onto himself.
^ Looking forward to it, RogueLeader!
Sherlock, I see what you mean about Lando. But I think removing him taking out the trooper makes his introduction feel very strange. I’d expect Poe to say, “Hey we gotta get to our ship who are you?”
I like the idea of moving Rey’s death forward, however, aside from the seemingly large task of musical score, I’d hate to break it apart from Finn’s reaction. With what you suggest I imagine chuckling that Finn is sensing he’s once again been put in the friend zone in favor of Kylo Ren. Like he’s saying “Oh no, not this guy again. Get away from her why don’tcha.”
Burbin, would you mind sending me the shot you tweaked of Rey turning on her yellow saber?
Sherlock, I don’t see a lot of fruit in tweaking Lando. It could’ve been done better, but I think that would just muddy it further. Why do the heroes stop to follow this random guy for no reason when they were sprinting for the Falcon? Lando decided to give a care after being inspired by (Rey) Skywalker… I guess?
Hehehe
Maybe just add a CRT with ESB playing to the background of the Jakku part.
I’m not sure I see the point in doing that.
Just to work them in somehow?
There was another ROTS edit that added music to that scene using a SW video game, but I don’t remember which. I do know it was listed in the changelog on IFDB, if you want to search for it.
Goof Troop is pretty good.
I can add the TIE sound coming in softly at the tail end of the lava shot but I don’t want it to draw your attention.
I see the lava shot as similar to a shot in ROTS of an eruption (the one from the trailer). It’s super brief and may not be immediately connected to the location where the characters are. It just sets the environment very quickly.
That’s an interesting and plausible idea, that it wasn’t meant to be Mustafar initially. Even though the castle shot uses Rogue One footage, I think these three shots form a natural progression: Lava as we expect from the planet, Vader’s castle with lava in the background, and a shot of a scorched forest that blends well with the castle shot.
Now that the music has been addressed, I’m liking the three shot version. There’s a little drum sting when we cut to the lava shot that I put there but you can barely hear it, though it felt wrong to boost it to the point that it was audible. Regardless, this feels pretty good to me on the whole.
The Rumination scene has two lines of voiceover.
