Nah, leave it out. It makes him sound childish.
Nah, leave it out. It makes him sound childish.
So I took a shot at removing the latter part of Snoke’s dialogue (“I cannot be betrayed…he kills his true enemy…”), and here’s the result:
https://vimeo.com/271774914
password: faneditThe new music is from Torn Apart, which I think is appropriate here because it’s the same track that plays when Kylo kills Han Solo, so it’s kind a mirror. Just an idea I figured I’d share!
I LOVE this
Welp, I lied! I went ahead and did a mockup of that very idea. This would be about what it would sound like if I did it for real, so please vet it accordingly.

Sounds good. I started the music a little earlier in mine because I thought it felt a bit rushed where the music originally started in the scene. Either way, it is still much better than having repeating music back-to-back.
On an unrelated note… if you are including the deleted scene with Finn and Poe at the beginning, I think you should also include the “Finn & Rose Go Where They Belong” deleted scene as they kinda go together. “I don’t belong here” -> “Going where I belong”
I would also recommend cutting the closeup of Snoke and cutting straight to Hux watching Snoke’s body fall out of the chair. If you look at Snoke’s mouth it is mostly open in the closeup but is then more closed in the wide shot, just a small inconsistency.
I had some time today and decided to mock-up the following:
Luke Has A Moment ‘Rescored’ - Take II

I think it works well. Let me know your thoughts!
Here is my take on the rescoring of the “Luke Has A Moment” deleted scene:

The track I used is from The Force Awakens, “Farewell - The Trip” starting at 1:38 when Luke closes the door and cutting when the Leia scene picks up. It fits PERFECTLY IMO and I think this works extremely well, especially using Han and Leia’s theme to solidify that the focus is on mourning Han.
Maybe for the rescore of the Luke deleted scene it could be the “sadder” music that plays from TFA when the Resistance gets back to the base. To better define it, the music playing when Rey and Leia hug and then it cuts to sad Chewie.
You can definitely sign me up to look at a second workprint when you have it.
Ditto!
Is there an updated crawl?
You could upload it to google drive and share the link. I’d be interested in checking out your edit. Please send me a PM with the info to download when you sort it out!

here is my scene where I have created Luke saving Leia. thoughts?"
I think the music is a little over the top but the idea is a good call back to Empire. Thought it could be something you could consider Hal.
I apologize for the comment. It just irritates me so much that they were more concerned with pushing an agenda through Holdo in this movie than keeping Leia in the leadership role throughout the movie.
It’s quite sad that it has been 30 years since these characters were in a movie together and they couldn’t all get one scene together, or have a story where they were actually successful, and that is because Disney is more concerned about pushing them out and pushing an agenda with characters than it is telling a focused, clear and consise story, and anyone who does not like it is a racist or “man-baby” to quote R.J.
The Last Jedi is on course to be the most fanedited Star Wars film because of this. Taking out these agenda-driven moments makes for a better film as you can interpret how you want to. Most people tend to cut Canto Bight which is only there to preach about animal rights and that war suppliers are bad, which is why Hal’s Canto Bight is so much better! These scenes feel very out of place in Star Wars movies. The movies are supposed to be about fun and adventure.
It’s nothing more than a cheap fake out and stupid way to remove Leia from the story so Admiral Gender Studies can take over. It would be much more powerful if Leia took out Snoke’s ship and Luke visited her there instead.
Thanks for clarifying!
Have you considered changing the name of the film like you did with the prequels? I think “Legacy of the Jedi” has a nice ring to it. Since the movie is more about continuing their legacy than it is “The Last Jedi”.
Jedit: For the love of God, please remove Space Walker Leia.
I gave up on burning blu rays long ago as I found it to be too difficult to configure. In my opinion it’s better to just buy a large-sized USB and plug it into a blu ray player. I have one that I use for Star Wars edits and Hal’s films have great picture quality and play well that way.
You could try cutting from the exploding door to Finn watching Rose falling back and see how it works without the kiss.
First one, yes.
Second one, meh.

Thanks for previewing it, and I hope the ending didn’t make your eyes bleed!
Hahaha, it actually works much better when the garbage of Canto Bight is removed. With less Canto Bight I can appreciate it more 😃
A few things I noticed from skimming the workprint…
Why did you decide not to include the “Luke has a Moment” deleted scene? It greatly improves his characterization early on in my opinion. A re-score could help it.
Why keep Finn & Rose’s kiss? There is ZERO romantic strings between the two beforehand and it still feels very out of place.
As promised, here is an updated clip.
Oh, I was thinking your Falcon ending but no broom boy ending.
That was the newest version that had audio fixes at the end. Just ignore the kids. I can post another cleaner version when I am by my computer later today.
It now ends like this:
Kylo w/ Dice -> Falcon Escape -> Canto Bight Kids -> Falcon Party -> End Credits
Canto Kids were moved ahead but can easily be pulled. I just adjusted based on the consensus at the time.

I think DZ’s Falcon ending with the switched shots at the end is quite good. Maybe just tweaking the audio a bit, adding sound foley and such would sell it.
Thanks! Like I’ve said many times before, I really don’t have great editing software, hopefully just some good ideas that can be used to help others with their edits!
I’m not too good with effects work but I’ll see if I can throw anything together to help guide others. I’m not sure if you saw my revised ending I did, but I removed the dialogue in the group shot and flipped the scenes of the Falcon in hyperspace and the group shot. I think it works very well and leaves more of a optimistic cliffhanger for IX.
