STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Well - following my earlier thinking about the Human fella in the cantina, the official Star Wars site says this about Ponda:
"This mean-spirited Aqualish attempted to pick a fight with Luke Skywalker when the young farmboy first set foot in the Mos Eisley Cantina. The tusk-mouthed thug soon learned not to tangle with the ward of a Jedi, as Obi-Wan Kenobi intervened with a flash of his lightsaber. The thug immediately dropped both the issue and his bloody severed arm."

So I take it all back - Ady, the shot is spot on!

What is the name of the pigface that says 'He doesnt like you' to Luke please?

"I think the greatest compliment I can give is this will be the version I now watch in preference to all others"
"It would have been so easy to do too much to the facial movements, but you have it spot on"

I think these two sentences sum up exactly what I feel too - I cannot imagine wanting to watch a different version of ANH now. Even if the big George does release a decent unaltered version, it wont be as good as Adys version - now I've seen the DS battle like that, the old one cant hold muster. Even little things like flipping the shots keep the flow perfectly.....
And, the changes have been done with love and care, without any feeling of 'look what I can do with my CG!' showing off.

I didnt realise you'd gone to the extent of filming a new hand for Ponda either - what sheer dedication.

Lucasfilm need you. George needs you to sit him down and say 'George, you need to do it like this'.

Thank you again Ady - I havent stopped thinking about your edit (and smiling to myself) since I watched it yesterday

I was joking about the Wookiees......

More beautiful things about Ady's edit: the blue tints in the Falcon cockpit as they travel thru hyperspace, Chewie's medal, Vader's lights (thats one of my faves too - done so subtly: Lucas would have had them really really bright, shouting I'M NEW I'M NEW!), the bright blue inside 3POs escape pod has gone etc etc.

True genius Ady

lol - I forgot there was a battle droid to find too! I havent found George yet - though I was looking for old George...

Ady - the flipper: initially I admit it 'threw me' as it looked really odd - but I think that is because I wasnt expecting it.
I've quickly flicked back a few frames though and it is pigfacedude pointing the blaster - which then ends up on the floor. Its obviously a fault with the original - they must have forgotten who was supposed to be shooting - but if you look at the sequence of events, it is the human who gives Luke some stick, then he throws Luke to the floor and brings out a blaster, Obi-Wan lights up and swings, and it is the human who falls back first. So really, it should be his arm on the floor I reckon!

I think maybe I'm getting too anal here, but I just got out the novelisation which reads "the man found himself lying prone against the bar, moaning and whimpering as he stared at the stump of an arm"

I'm afraid I think the only totally correct solution here would be somehow to have the humans arm down there. But even the gun on the floor doesnt match the one that was drawn. And frankly, I really dont think it matters. As you've pointed out, the flipper now matches what was seen earlier - and the cauterised stump makes far more sense.

All the advice I would offer is this - if it bothers YOU, change it. If not - leave it!

More to say.....
Thank you for removing that infernal camera shake just b4 the TIEs attack the Falcon (only just noticed that)

The lightsaber fight was edited brilliantly - really added some pace and urgency to the whole thing that was previously missing. I'm undecided personally about the ROTS music there, though you have done a fantastic job making it fit, and I have no doubt that John Williams and his royal Lucasness would have done the same if theyd done ep3 b4 the SEs...

I think overall my favourite thing is that the stormtroopers are back to being white
And Luke's saber never turns green.
And Vaders flashing lights
And the Alderaan explosion
and.
.
.
oh I'll stop there - you get the idea

Just finished watching it - Bloody brilliant. Really, really brilliant.
The DS battle was so utterly fantastci I had to watch it 3 times - exactly how it always should have been. The new graphics fit perfectly - you (and your CG colleagues) grasped perfectly how to fit the graphics in with the original look of the film without it yelling I'm HERE like Lucasfilms 'enhancements' did.

So many things to praise, obvious and subtle ones. The whole thing is exactly what the official SE's should have been - you have enhanced the film without altering it. Brilliant. Brilliant.

Nearly forgot to say - the TIE fighter attack in the DS battle nearly made me drop my beer...

So, a very big thank you from me!!!!!!

Now, where was George???? Just a clue would be nice...

FInally finished - I@ve only watched the first ten minutes but I have to say that the quality of this XVid is astounding. Absolutely crystal clear - easily as good as the 2004 DVDs. The thing that has really impressed me from the first few minutes is the colour correction. Absolutely spot on - it gave me a funny feeling when I@ was watching: just how it should have been.

Thank you

Almost there! Cant wait - there isnt any film coming out this year that I@m looking forward to more than the Adywan edit. Love the idea of burning the 2004 DVDs too - but I traded mine in for a videogame instead
Maybe I'll find a screengrab of Greedo shooting first and vomit all over it.

You dont want me to video that though
