Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars 1977 - Color Adjustment Project for v2.7 (released)
Time

I decided to post this link here because I was looking at Towne32s’ latest clips for any errors.
What made me stop and take notice was the sudden color change of the Bantha in the back ground.
Then all the other differences jumped. Why have I never seen this before? I dunno!
The lightning is very different with the 2 scenes shot many hours (or days) apart, the Jawas for example are
at first in the shade then in the sun. The antennas on the roof are different. From Harmy’s YouTube video I know he did alot of work on the 2nd of these shots. My question is “was all this the case in the Original Film or was the 1st shot redone for the SE?” Please forgive me if this has been asked before and beaten to death as I’m kinda new around here!

Edit2: I think I misunderstood. You’re just demonstrating my most recent preview’s compatibility with Catbus’s 2.5 main sup subtitles?

Yup! LOL! 😄

and… I believed that the Test Render was still using Subs unchanged from v2.6 which are
the same as 2.5? at least they looked the same to my old eyes.

Ok, now that I’ve had some sleep…
I was comparing the latest Subs to the previous clip, and the over all color to previous releases.
Here’s the latest clip compared to the latest full versions released.

I still prefer the earlier Subs, but the latest are a improvement over the clip titled: Greedo-.mp4

Yeah, I was thinking they’re a bit too bright. Might pull the color value from Jedi.

They’re likely to seem a bit too bright regardless–a side-effect of having all the letters be a little thicker than we’ve gotten used to. You get the same effect when you color-correct SSE to match DeEd, the subs just look brighter at the same value.

Some screen comparisons I posted in the other thread. I like the sub brightness from 2.5.

Alternatively, if no one wants the 97+ crawl/flyover, and I can’t get the 1981, I can of course only release the 1977 version. I thought people might want the ANH crawl, even if it’s from SE era, but if that isn’t the case then it’s no problem!

For what it is worth, I don’t think the ANH crawl has ANY place in a Theatrical Reconstruction of Star Wars.
I saw the film opening week in 77’ and it was called “Star Wars” LOL!!! If I want to see ANY of Georges evil changes I would watch my S.E. copy (cursed that it is). There… I said my piece.

Hello there,
I want to watch the Despecialized Movies on my TV with my BluRay Player.
How can I burn the MKV on a playable BluRay Disc? Wihich programs should I use?

I agree with Town32, wait on next ver. also there is always the AVCHD.iso file which
is much smaller & ready to burn. Make your experience MUCH easier! That is of course
if you only need the English Audio track.

So if anyone is willing to look at the preview, please leave a post and let me know. I’ll start a group PM with the link and we can discuss what we see there. As I said, all feedback is welcome, but if it ends up being bogged down with minor ‘color wishlists’, I might try to steer it towards actual issues/errors. If there’s something you feel very strongly about, color wise, that hasn’t been said, it’s fine but no promises. Mostly, mention anything that I might have made worse than 2.6. 😃

If there are a lot of changes we come up with, I can do another test render. Otherwise, I’ll encode the final render once I have Harmy’s files, mux it, etc. I’ll let it sit with you guys until enough people have watched it that we think it’s in good enough shape to upload.

Thanks guys.

I’d be happy to give it a test drive!

Help: looking for... Where to find Star Wars SE 1997 Trilogy preservations...?
Time

I got the laserdisc version of original movies by the way, if someone is interested, but there are not clean… (that’s allright to me, I actually think Star wars is better with a non perfect image. It’s like the dark vador helmet being not symmetrical, or some cheap effect I love.)

I’m guessing that you DON’T have the LD player…
If you could get an Image off those Discs then you have something.
I have done encodes from LDs before and they came out quite nice (or better than VHS!) LOL.

I think 2.6 looks fine and if Harmy hadn’t mentioned it I would not have known that shot
was a error! LOL I’ve already muxed in 30 Subs but won’t burn image to media as long as you
folks are still working to improve things! I still have ROTJ 2.5 I just DL’d, seems not much
color tweaking needed with that one.

So 2.0 was a gout/bd hybrid? That explains the droid’s clarity

If anyone spots more problems, let me know. Sorry for the final release not being final.

Oh… I’m going to have to download this again, aren’t I?

I think we were going to have to anyhow! I read earlier that Towne32 was going to acquire the
Master files from Harmy and do color correction from them. Then of course there’s the dreamt of v3.0
in our future.

I don’t mind the downloading but, trying to seed a version that no one wants anymore just makes my Ratio that much worse! I seem to have a bad habit of doing a big download just before the NEW version comes out! LOL

Well, I am impressed, I was giving your 2.6 a watch and thought: " This looks really good!"
Then I watched the 2.5 a bit to compare. Then I thought “Hell, I got duel screens here let’s watch both
side-by-side!”

This scene really caught my eye!

Keep up the great work!

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)
Time

Hi CatBus! Great work you've been doing! Could I send you PM for obtaining for the current Subtitle set for ROTJ ?

(I read that asking for links was against rules)

I'm not having much luck with a "MySpleen" invite!

On another note, my current set of subs for the first 2 films say:

Unverified subtitles (may need significant improvements):
Mandarin (Simplified), American Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Korean, Turkish, Romanian, Croatian,Greek, and Bulgarian.

Is this still the case or are these subs dated?

Thanks!  -Faith

That's good to know! I'll just PM Frink, got a million questions!

Well said and just to give every new member a heads up the protocol is to PM Frink for any invitation request, or just for any question in general. Keep in mind he's famous for the whole "there's no such thing as a stupid question" thing and he absolutely loves it and is happy to help out. When I was new I had like a million questions and I PM'd Frink for literally every single one and he was super helpful.
