Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

VLC will play a AVCHD file, but first you need one very handy free App: "Daemon Tools Lite"
Use DT to create a Virtual Drive then “mount” the AVCHD.ISO. It will appear as a new
DVD or BD drive on your PC. On mine I could not simply play this virtual disc with VLC
I have to RT. click on the new drive choose “open” then play the “BDMV” folder inside.
I do have another player that will play as soon as it’s mounted, just as if I’d put a
retail DVD in a drive, but I like VLC a lot more! This works great with any other .ISO
you are not yet ready to burn!

Help Wanted: 'STAR TREK - TOS' deleted scenes preservation

Dr.Dre’s tool seems to be able to automatically correct faded footage, but it’s not “publicly available” 😃 So is there any good software which could be used for restoring colours? Or maybe is there anybody here who could restore the faded colours?

The first page of Dr.Dre’s thread mentions sending a PM if interested in his software.
If that’s still true I’d love to see the results, big Star Trek fan here!

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)
Time

I have the BluRay complete set as well as positive seed ratios from other trackers. Also have read Harmy uses more sources than just the BluRay or is that false?

These are the sources listed as of Star Wars v2.7

VIDEO SOURCES:

  1. STAR WARS Episode IV A New Hope Official Blu-Ray 2011 (Preliminary colour correction by You_Too)

  2. STAR WARS 2006 Bonus DVD (sourced from the 1993 Definitive Edition Laser Disc Master - upscales by Dark Jedi, You_Too and Harmy)

  3. Star.Wars.Episode.IV.A.New.Hope.1977.720p.HDTV.x264-DON (2004 DVD Version)

  4. STAR WARS 1997 Special Edition (Reivax DTV capture)

  5. Custom mattes, 35mm and 70mm film cell scans etc.

  6. Team Negative1 35mm “Silver Screen Edition” LPP print scan

  7. Puggo Grande (1977 16mm print transfer)

Info Wanted: What Is The Best Theatrical Version of Each Star Wars Movie?

I’m sorry, I’m still a little confused. If a fan preservation audio is synced to the GOUT discs, does that mean that the audio is the same as on the GOUT bonus discs?

And Harmy’s track muxing into the Silver Screen Edition is basically just saying that the audio tracks from Harmy’s Despecialized Editions would also be accurate to use with the video from the Silver Screen Editions?

No & Yes, it’s a matter of timing, the GOUT discs being used as a baseline.
Same as with subtitles, using the GOUT as a standard, any sound track or subtitle
that is in sync with the GOUT discs will work with most of these projects, the
exceptions are mentioned above. It does NOT mean it’s the SAME audio as the GOUT.
Files like .MP4 & .MKV are just containers and can hold MANY tracks.
If I open up SW 2.7 .MKV file in a Editor (MKVtools) I would see several audio tracks
from 6 Chan English to many foreign language tracks and commentaries. All are synced
the same and when playing the film you can choose between them just like you do with
a retail BluRay. The same applies to Catbus’s subtitles, which I believe I could
add up to around 30!

Edit: Wow! I’m late on this one, I’ll let Cat field these! LOL!!!

Info Wanted: What Is The Best Theatrical Version of Each Star Wars Movie?
Time

Wow! I will not attempt to answer all that!
If band width and HD space were a big factor and I wanted
to have a nice Star Wars binge I would watch Harmys:
SW 2.7
ESB 2.0
ROTJ 2.5
I have the ACVHD & .MKV versions of all those plus the earlier releases.
Those have the best image quality and sound. (my opinion)
Then I would be curious about TN1s Star Wars which is very nice, dirt & all!
You might want to read the 1st page of each thread about those projects, that
would explain all the differences in audio tracks, subtitles ect.
As far as those “Other” films, I would just watch my retail versions as I
don’t know of, or care about, any changes made to them.
One point of interest though, any fan preservation here that was synced to
the “GOUT” discs will be able to use the same audio tracks. In other words
the DTS sound track from Harmys 2.7 would “mux” into the TN1 Star Wars.

oops… I think the cows have come home!

Ever since the release of Rogue One, I feel in love with Star Wars again. I’ve been searching through my basement just to find out that I still have the box set of the DVD “limited edition” release of the original theatrical cut only to find out that it is super grainy and does not fit my tv aspect ratio properly. Even pressing zoom the the TV does not do it justice since I know that the picture is slightly cut off. As a child of the 90’s I grew up watching Star Wars trilogy on VHS and have both THX version and Special Edition version. Growing older, I learn to realize the importance and appreciate how George Lucas had created the movie oringally even though he claimed that it was “incomplete” but to see that true hard work was put into the movie with using only practical effects as we can coin the term these days. Now movies these days are taking the turn for CGI and rarely do they ever come out with movies that have practical effects. I want to experience the original trilogy again but this time the way how it was originally released and how technology would clean up the picture and show how it was truly meant to be shown, not with all the added or edited scenes but knowing that “Han shot first” or the true effects of the late 70’s and 80’s. If someone out there is reading this, I hope that you’ll be able to share the experience and it would definitely make my holiday a great one!

Sounds like you are suffering from a case of the “GOUT” http://savestarwars.com/gout.html
very painful! Check your PMs! Merry Christmas!

The pics you posted are not of the extracted archive!
It should look something like this:

Star Wars 2.7 Folder

Click on the 1st of those rar files, choose “extract"
browse to where you want the folder to go, then click
"ok”. You should have a new folder that looks like the
one pictured above.

The “Project Threepio” folder contains MANY more folders
and files you will never need to worry about unless you
want to add certain subtitles. All you need to to watch
the Film is the .MKV file!

Depends on what program are you using, but most programs (if not all) should unpack it automatically.

I’m using 7-zip. I downloaded the .RAR files through FRD. I then downloaded 7-zip as was recommended and extracted part 1. It created a new folder called “Multipart” which eventually has the movie in a subfolder called STREAM. I guess in hindsight I’m done at that point, since the file size looks right and the movie plays. But I also extracted part 2 and it created a new folder “Multipart.part02” and a smaller movie file that doesn’t play. Same for part 03 and I stopped there.

I’m guessing I’m done after extracting part 1, but I just wanted to make sure I didn’t need to manually extract all of the other files for some reason.

Yes, you are done, the first file in a multi-part .RAR file is all you need to deal
with. It contains the info about ALL the other parts and will extract them. It will
also inform you if ANY of the other parts are damaged or incomplete, so if the .MKV
you extracted plays you are good to go!

I had the 20GB mkv before and it played fine, but the AVCHDs are encoded in some peculiar way such that they’re impossible to remux into a matroska container and play successfully. High cpu usage and long delays are common on the players I’ve tried, that’s if it even plays at all. The m2ts files will play on MPC if I have HW acceleration enabled so I have to leave them in that format.

I have re-encoded all 3 Harmy projects from AVCHD to .MKV with a variety of subs and
audio tracks, never had any problem. I used: mkvmerge v8.2.0 (‘World of Adventure’) 64bit
Early on I had one little hang up, when mounting a image with DAEMON Tools, VLC would not
simply play the disc, but would play the BDMV folder inside. Other players can simply play the image as is.

Right. What you’re describing is exactly the benefit of what we call GOUT sync. However, I would say you do not need to trim the video (in fact, please don’t. Harmy and I put it there for a reason). Even in our releases none of the audio covers that 30 seconds and the tracks all have varying lengths, especially the commentary I believe. Vlc will show wonky run times if you fast forward to the last 30 seconds, but otherwise it’s not a problem.

If you do decide you want to trim the credits. I believe I can safely speak for harmy (and certainly myself 😛) when I say please just keep it for yourself instead of complicating things by distributing the unnecessarily altered version. 😃

Exactly! I muxed the 6 chan audio from 2.7 into my final copy of SSE 1.6 (minus the 81’ Crawl) and
it’s just fine! There would be NO reason to alter the video of 2.7 at all! After all I’m just
using the sound track. Good point Towne about the audio tracks being all different lengths already.

Ok, I have tried the audio codecs that would be close enough to the surround sound mix and your suggestions Smithers. But when I put in the flash drive it keeps on crackling. This definitely means that there is something up with my surround sound system and I will be consulting my dad about it. Not sure what it is, but whatever is going on, one of the systems is smoking a whole lotta crack…

So you got the picture to your liking? I was going to give you Tips about the grain issue.
Did you try the Auto-Passthru setting as suggested for your Audio?
That would duplicate the original track exactly. Does your playback hardware support THAT Codec?

I’m having trouble with the SW 50g disc. I’ve tried to burn it 3 times - but it doesn’t seem to play correctly. I’ve burned twice with dvdfab and once with IMG burn. Not sure what the problem is. I downloaded from Mega. 😕

Is the file corrupt? Hash: 7816f2df7182f337ed41f1c833caba283e32748f ?
Does the .ISO play when mounted with DAEMON Tools?

hmmm… I stopped seeded the original torrent, deleted the Torrent file.
Downloaded new file and it re-checked to 99.9% and started to DL.
In about 5 mins I got a Error. Download can’t continue, file in use?
AHHHH! Brain storm! is it because the ISO is Mounted?? Will Check!

Edit: I unmounted the Disc Image and started over, it’s working again!
Hopefully others will learn from my mistakes (I never do)!

I don’t recall it being mentioned, so perhaps I just missed it (as the forums behave strange on all browsers I have except my phone now for some reason) but is this newer release simply a tweak of the first scan?

If you are referring to v1.0 , it’s a very big tweak!

I’ve asked this twice before and it’s gotten lost in the shuffle, but now that I actually have the thing it’s become more pressing. Can someone tell me whether it’s possible to mux the 5.1 into the existing BD with the seamless branching using some manner of freeware, or am I going to need to make an MKV?

I think I just saw a .MKV of this on some site, somewhere, it had just the 5.1 Audio. =)

I signed up for a one week unlimited free trial (that doesn’t even require you give your credit card information) from http://www.pureusenet.nl/en, and I downloaded the free usenet client SABnzbd. With that, I was able to download this whole thing in about an hour with an average speed of around 10 Mbps without paying a cent.

I found the exact same trial! downloading now. Try these:
