Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars 1977 - Color Adjustment Project for v2.7 (released)

Well, none of that is really relevant here, since there’s not even a menu. Let alone BD-J. It’s possible that some players could glitch up if they don’t see the folder, but I haven’t seen it happen (for BD-Rs at least). With the constant updating of BD firmware, I’d be surprised if it’s an issue, but yeah, in theory it could only help compatibility by including an empty folder.

Yup! That’s exactly the issue, some players expect that folder to be present, empty or not.
I saw “PowerDVD” named as having this issue. Perhaps hardware players too.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks fellas (and/or ladies) !

When in doubt “Google”? I copy this from the Doom9 Forum, sounds valid.

The CERTIFICATE folder should always exist on a bluray whether empty or not
If the disc contains BD-J (JAR files) and they are signed, then there needs to be a certificate
in that folder that authenticates the signature of the JAR files
If the JAR files are not signed, there is no need for a certificate, but BD-J then cannot access
some privileged functions, among them access to persistent storage or access to the internet
If the certificates are removed and a signed JAR file wants to access privileged code, the disc
simply will not play.
If BD-Live content is downloaded from the internet, it may (usually is) signed too, requiring a certificate in that very folder to ensure, that the downloaded content can’t be tampered with.

Do I need a certificate file to burn the bdmv folder in imgburn?

I had that question awhile back, I just added the Certificate Folder from 2.5
as it was empty anyhow, I think I was told it didn’t matter, but I wanted to be sure.
Either way it worked fine for the 2.6 AVCHD.

Edit: Gratzs Towne! You made alot of folks Happy! 😃

I downloaded 2.6 which is a bit outdated, but cant seem to play the m2ts file, how do I play the AVCHD?

What I did was:

  1. Mount the image with Daemon tools
  2. Rt click on the Drive in “My Computer” choose “Open”
  3. Rt click on the “BDMV” folder, choose “Play with VLC media player”.

Using this method works fine, but without Chap. markers or labeled
audio and subtitle tracks (they are simply numbered) no big deal.

I did download another player I use ONLY for AVCHD files.
“Total Media Theatre 6” it is no longer updated or supported
but it does show the chapters ect.

I have yet to burn a disk from a AVCHD yet, so I can’t advise on that.

I hope you don’t mind me being a bit off-topic here, but I just took a look through 2.7 and I think I have a new favorite version of Star Wars to watch. Great work, towne32 and everyone!

Yes! I went in 77’ with my older brother to see this when it opened, I’ve been wanting to put together
a boxed set like the one Harmy videoed as a gift to big bro. I think THIS is the version I will use!
Thanks to ALL involved!

Harmy will also eventually release a 1080p v3.0.

Hard to see, the future is…

You know something we don’t? Haha Has Harmy said anything about this possibly not happening? I thought he pretty solidly confirmed it.

But yes, 2.7 does look great 😃

I’m sure I know “something” you don’t, but not about this project! LOL
But if I were to pick a stopping spot for the 720p Trilogy while we wait for
the 1080, I would pick:

  • SW v2.7
  • ESB v2.5
  • Jedi v2.5

Any more work on these would have to be very minor!

But yeah, what’s up with the letterbox thing?

Despecialized Editions are high definition reconstructions of the theatrical versions of the
STAR WARS films. The original shots are painstakingly restored using various sources ranging
from VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, BluRay to 35mm prints.
The main goal is to get as close as possible to the original versions of the films as seen in
cinemas on opening day, while maintaining high picture and audio quality.

Not the way the VHS looked on your old 19" !

yes… and this IS the wrong thread…

Hello,

I understand there is a great DVD edition out of the trilogy, restored, original versions (by Harmy). DVD-5 and everything (I can’t handle much else besides that). Since this was my original reason for joining the site, I was wondering if someone might be able to PM me about the spleen or whatever method is used now. Thanks.

(and I own at least 4 different versions of the SW trilogy commercially).

PM sent.

No, usually marvins seeds it, and he’s been offline for a while, so 9.1 never happened on the spleen. If you want a better ratio, you could volunteer to be the initial 9.2 seeder…

Also, tehparadox has been inaccessible for some time, so those links (if it ever comes back up again) are also still outdated.

I thought about asking you about that, but my band width would not suffice (about 400kbps up Max) and depending on the time of day it can be much worse! lol
