If we make the message about a hidden fleet and have the fortnite broadcast it will be confirming what they just heard.

Not what I meant but, whatever… 😒

I think some of these ideas being thrown around are better suited to Idir’s ideas thread. Much of this discussion about bringing in the message in completly newly created scenes doesn’t seem like something Hal is planning on pursuing.

The line seperating an ideas thread and someone’s actual edit has become blurred. 😐

“We’ve decoded the message, and it confirms the worst. Palpatine has returned.”

But why would they have to “decode” a message that everybody just heard in plain English?

I bet that’s the model used for the shots of Lando coming out the top hatch. Weren’t some of those shots miniatures, or at least planned to be at one point?

That’s what I thought too.
They actually built part of the ship to film Lando catching Luke, but then ended up using the dummy.

The New Republic EP1: A Vergence in the Force 4K (The Mandalorian Season 1 Edit) [V4 RELEASED]
Time

That clip looks great! I’d love a link when this project is finished!

As someone who has been experimenting with a similar idea, I know how hard it is to transition from the music build up at the end of each episode into the next scene, which is probably the only thing that seems a little off about that clip. The rest is great don’t get me wrong! But it just seems like when the episode ends, the music seems very climactic and then suddenly… transition wipe!

Your are definitely doing a better job at this show than me though! 😄

Edit:

Isn’t the Mandalorian’s armour undamaged in the scene where the child eats the frog? 😬 That might be a tough problem to get around.

The Eopie fart joke appriciation thread (Formerly "Revenge of the Sith and inconsistencies with my memory - wipe transition?")
Time

The Eopie sequence is yet another reason why the prequels are secretly brilliant. George employs the use of fundamental filmmaking techniques to immerse viewers into the storytelling experience and most importantly, entertain them. Let me explain, the great filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock defined the difference between mystery in a film and suspense in a film as:

“Mystery is when the spectator knows less than the characters in the movie. Suspense is when the spectator knows more than the characters in the movie."

In the case of the Eopie, there is a distinct sense of mystery surrounding the theatrical cut of the fart. We are calmly watching Jar Jar toiling away at the pod when suddenly, he is bombarded by an overpowering odour. We are surprised by this as we had never suspected such a thing to occur beforehand.

In the extended cut of the fart, we see the Eopie from the very beginning, we watch with suspense as he snorts in agony, waiting for something to happen, we know more than Jar Jar at this point and are the only ones aware of this approaching storm.

I ask you, which is more effective?

Obi-Wan’s eopie during the final scene of ROTS farts right as Obi-Wan turns to head back. During that shot, comp in the eopie from the extended podrace intro straining in order to let out a series of farts, which continue out of frame as Owen joins Beru.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars To Return With New Episodes
Time

NFBisms said:

My other Clone Wars hot takes:

 • Domino Squad were barely characters, Fives is the only notable one
 • The changes to Anakin’s character make him a more boring character than his film counterpart
 • Umbara arc didn’t stick the landing, nor did it need to be its 4 episodes and its entertainment value is 90% just being cool and fun not “dark or deep.” Not the show’s best.
 • Its at its best when it knows it’s a fun kids show
 • The action in this show can be too long and mind-numbing to watch at a certain point
 • The show did not make me care more or less about the prequel Jedi to make me any sadder about their deaths in ROTS
 • I always really liked Ahsoka
 • The Martez sisters were better than 85% of the stock characters used throughout the original run, and the Bad Batch

I’ve found a nice place to post these hot takes.

Just joking around. I respect your opinions. 😉

Personally I don’t think this particular shot works, it’s a rather bland, monotone view of Coruscant and, besides recognizing it from AOTC, I wouldn’t buy this particular shot as one from TROS.

I agree 100%, I only chose it to test because it was the only shot I could find that had a clear blue sky making it easier to add the Star Destroyer.

Maybe we don’t need to remove the traffic? George Lucas certainly didn’t think traffic would stop just because of a gigantic battle overhead. The only time the surface of Coruscant ever looks remotely bothered by war in the prequels is when the temple is attacked by their own army.

Okay.

Anyway, it’s a little despressing just how many people have lost interest in editing these films. I remember lurking back when Hal was doing ROTS and TFA and there seemed to be loads of people that were assisting with VFX. And believe it or not, they still managed to make it look great even without solely relying on the big shots like Poppasketti and Snooker! I know right? 😄

kewlfish said:

OOOOOOHHHH, gotcha… I could try to take a look at it… is there a resource for Star Destroyer?

I’m not sure what Snooker was planning on using, she had said that the idea was to use a rendered model but I don’t know where they come from.

I like it, What about an establishing shot for the board scene though?

The Star Destroyer will remain, it will just be hovering over the planet. 😉

Would the First Order allow citizens to go about their daily business?

I was thinking about erasing all those unnecessary ships flying in every direction in the shot just posted above though!

Since the current problem with Mustafar is now looking like “too many” options rather than “not enough,” how far do we want to pursue the other currently unaddressed items on the list?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that you didn’t see my post only a couple hours ago when I sent out the exact same thing.

kewlfish said:

A couple posts back I put a Coruscant planet shot with Dooku’s ship removed from Attack of the Clones up, but there weren’t any truly good shots of Coruscant that can be used, just brief planetary approaches because the ships usually engulf the entire camera frame.

Should probably show you this:

Chase Adams said:

I’ve been thinking that it might be easier to create a Coruscant shot to replace the Ewok shot in the ending montage by possibly using the removed Star Destroyer matte to add to an already existing Coruscant shot from the prequels.
Here’s a very rough mockup that I did in like two minutes:

StarDestroyer

By doing this, we can avoid having to go to the trouble of rendering new models that might not fit with the original film’s aesthetic.

Now that we have learned that snooker is no longer able to assist with Hal, or anybody else’s edits, I thought it might be a good idea to clarify what exactly it is that Hal still needs doing in terms of VFX and audio. I’ve had trouble figuring out exactly what it is since his checklist doesn’t seem to be caught up on recent updates.

1. Mustafar establishing shot. - Looks like we already have quite a few options.
2. The falcon exiting hyperspace at the giant iceberg. - Done by Poppasketti.
3. Doesn’t look like Naboo is happening in this film so probably wouldn’t look any further into the Gungan statues.
4. Establishing shot of Coruscant from space during the conference room scene.
5. Possibly the squeaky wheel scene.
6. Use Jonh’s VFX to give Luke a haircut.
7. Possibly some line from 3PO when his mind is restored to hint at his prequel memories.
8. Possibly replace Kylo Ren’s TIE. (I really want a TIE Adavanced!)
9. Civilian fleet lines from all of you guys. - KEEP SENDING THEM!
10. Star Destroyer crashing over Coruscant to replace the Ewok shot.
11. Finalised form of the chess scene. - I’ll be sending this soon!
12. Ben Solo’s force ghost. - In progress by Jonh.
13. Falcon leaving Tatooine. - In progress by Poppasketti.

Bonus!

This isn’t on Hal’s list, but I strongly recommend using Bobson Dugnutt’s version of force ghost Luke on Ach’To when it is finished as it drastically reduces the level of blueness and makes it more in line with the OT ghosts.
