The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

I was searching Reddit for posts of mine in order to relist download links and came across something nearly a year old in which someone tore through this project’s changelist to demonstrate how the author is reactive, doesn’t understand the film’s meaning, and essentially making the edit to complain. (I get why fan edits of SW put a poor taste into the mouths of some, I really do. And I could imagine such a change log reading that way if that’s what one assumes going in. On the other hand, if the original film had shown the Force ghosts and we worked hard to paint them out, I’m sure the conversation would be the same but merely inverted.)

That’s awful Hal, I’m sorry you had to read all that. I don’t understand how someone wouldn’t notice the time and effort that goes into things like this. As someone who lacks pretty much any kind of motivation I know how disheartening listening to this kind of stuff can be.

Honestly I’m so done with people online in general as of recently I feel like I need to just mentally check out until things blow over down here. This is really the last thing I needed to hear today.

The captain Hux line sounds perfect to me.

Since the conference scene is being brought up again, I mentioned this a couple times already, though quite some time ago… I still really feel that Pryde’s line about ‘conjuring star destroyers’ directly contradicts what this edit attempts to imply about the Final Order’s resources. If we want a hypothetical first time audience to believe these ships are a stashed remnant of the Empire, it seems weird not to cut it.

schorman's HDTV Star Wars Saga Preservation (Released)
Time

I’m not sure if this is an issue on my end or something wrong with the source, but I noticed in the AOTC preservation there seems to be this pixellated distortion effect in the bottom right corner of the frame for a few seconds around the time the characters react to Jango’s beheading.

Does anyone else have this going on with their file? I’d be interested to know…

If I see it pop up again anywhere else in the film I’ll post here.

JEDIT: Also updated the dice background for continuity with the rest of the scene.

Looking really good Nev! 😮

Just curious, any particular reason for changing the cropping of the shot? Seems a little more zoomed…

Also I wonder if the Falcon’s hull should be shadowed/tinted the slightest bit more, I feel like with this new background being somewhat darker the ship blends with the environment a tiny bit less. I dunno, just the first thing that came to mind.

Star Wars Prequels 35mm 4K Filmized Editions by Emanswfan (a WIP)

Major bump.

I very much hope that emanswfan has been doing well these last few months, especially during such difficult times all around the world.

Just thought I’d interrupt the long stretch of silence to let them know that I am still eagerly awaiting any further news on the state of this project, and hoping that it hasn’t been completely forgotten! 😉

If you’re still struggling with computer issues mate, I’d be more than happy to give a little support your way to make things all the more easier, and I’m sure they’d be others who may be willing as well. 😃

I agree with RogueLeader, a little light reflection or glare or whatever would definitely hide the imperfections of the face.

That new clip is still absolutely fantastic though, certainly as close to perfect as it ever could be given the limitations.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what you come up with to replace the background!

Amazing, amazing stuff Nev! That arm reconstruction work is so seamless I had forgotten where the camera covered it up.

One thing I did notice that I should probably point out is that the little piece of metal that Han hangs the dice on seems to slide around quite a bit, might be a good idea to stabilise it in some way…

In regards to the face though, my suggestion for the simplest solution would probably be to just trim the clip and make do with a little bit of a loss of continuity between shots. Not sure how other people would feel about that though.

Phenomenal. Both of those clips. 👍
I agree about the Captain Hux line, though not sure if anything could be done about.

However one thing I know we’ve all discussed to death in the past is this film’s concept of amassing an enormous fleet of star destroyers seemingly out of thin air, I recall us experimenting with a line for Poe pulled from the Resistance show about ‘relics of a bygone era’ but we couldn’t get it to work. After seeing the conference scene again I’m now wondering if the simplest solution would be to somehow remove Pryde’s line about ‘conjuring legions’ What do you guys think?

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread
Time

That’s pretty neat Sade1212! Though I do agree about the issue with the musical swell making the dialogue seem a little anti-climatic.
Quick recommendation and shameless plug- you might wanna check out this thread for many other takes at the same scene. It’s a bit of a brainstorming factory for different Rey Nobody related ideas and clips and there have been a couple editors (including Hal) who plan on plucking out the best approaches once they come to fruition to directly implement into their own edits.
Your contribution to the collection of clips would be very helpful.
