It’s all coming together Hal… 😉

As for the list, I would say the one that requires the most attention is the Endor into Coruscant shot. 😬 After the loss of Snooker’s computer, we need you talented people to pick up the torch! If we can have several takers of that shot, we might be able to pick and choose what works best, and combine people’s edits… I would say it is the most urgent shot as well since we have literally already reused the Endor shot earlier in the film, so it actually NEEDS to be replaced.

Let the games begin! Which of you are brave enough to undertake such a task?

I think you should. This may be the unpopular opinion thread, but that’s like, sacrilege.

I don’t need to. This is an unpopular opinion thread. If you can’t accept it, this isn’t the place for you.

People should be able to use this thread without having to hear complaining about the things they say, so long as everybody follows the rules, you can say whatever you want.

Idea: A TLJ Edit to please everybody?
Time

😄
Hate to derail the topic further, but we really need a thread of ‘Best Moderator One-Liners before giving a Ban’

As for what I think would make a TLJ edit to please everybody, I would say that whilst it may be difficult, the simplest approach would probably be to trim away the ‘retcon-y’ nature of it and have it move efficiently forward in the way TFA set it up to, no more of this ‘subversion of expectations’

(It’s worth noting that I already somewhat like TLJ and consider Rekindled to be the perfect cut of it, so I don’t really have much to say when it comes to ‘fixing’ it…)

I could, since I edited it together that way already. I haven’t watched that chunk of the movie overall, but I imagine it working well.

Yeah I imagined it would work fine, in theory… I just really liked the way Rose’s line to Poe transitioned to him talking to Leia. Since that scene is gone, I was just concerned it wouldn’t flow as nicely.

My only other concern is that I have yet to see proof that the reveal of Chewie being alive can be delayed with only rearrangement, no deletion.

Edit:

Also, with the aftermath of Kijimi’s destruction being deleted, we have no scene of Poe being thrown into the deep end and setting up his new responsibilities and thus, giving the Leia scene context.

I don’t think it’s necessary to remove Hux sardonically asking if he should destroy the city. A Star Destroyer is a powerful vessel, and it’s not like they were in a Final Order Destroyer at that point anyway.

And about the line “every one we knock out is a world saved.” First, it’d be very awkward to try to remove since the main SW theme is blaring. But I think it still makes sense, not as a numerical ratio. Those Destroyers with their big guns are gonna go fuck up “all free worlds.” Taking them down in total saves the totality of all worlds. So, to put it poetically, each one destroyed could be said to save a world.

“I see your point, sir”

Either way, this thread is hardly the place for the discussion, so please find another thread for it.

Secondly, I just thought I should clarify some things I said about removing the Death Star cannons on the Star Destroyers. Upon rewatching some scenes, I picked up on a couple things that are important to note when discussing this.

In the briefing scene on the Resistance base, Rose says something like, “We think hitting the cannons will ignite the main reactors of the ships” or whatever.

This means that the lines, “Hit those underbelly cannons!” and “We gotta hit those cannons now!” CAN STAY. It just implies that the best way to destroy those ships is hitting the big guns.

This means that we still only have the following moments to remove:

Chase Adams said:

  1. Hux saying, “Shall we destroy the city?”

  2. Palpatine telling Pryde to destroy a world they know. (So dumb!)

  3. Scene of Kijimi’s destruction.

  4. The aftermath scene with Poe, Rose and Merry.

  5. Poe saying, “Every one we knock out is a world saved!”

I also love the suggestions Hal makes here, so we should brainstorm more ways to give the impression of an Imperial remnant:
(RIP to the “relics of a bygone era” line!) 😦

Hal 9000 said:

  • Possibly use Dominic’s rescore of the reveal of the Final Order (although the use of the Imperial March could help sell it as an Imperial remnant stashed away)

  • Id like to imply that the Final Order fleet is a backup fleet stashed during the days of the Empire and modified to have the big guns. (Removing Kijimi’s destruction can help this be inferred.)

What’s the source of the dialogue? Sounds familiar but I can’t place it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvrCBRxkB8U

It’s from the episode of Droid Tales that JJ used to help write his script. Watch it, trust me…

I’m not sure what “Padme’s very first mission” would be, though.

I know, makes no sense… I planned on having him say, “…very first mission with Master Anakin” but I couldn’t make it work. I thought it would be nice to have some confirmation that 3PO witnessed what would be considered a very interesting event. 😏

Is there even some specific dialogue like “I am going with Mistress Padme to the ___ system” or something to reference TCW?

Haven’t checked, might be.

It was never changed within the film itself. What that link shows is the bonus extended podrace sequence.

The extended version of the Eopie gives a whole new meaning to the title ‘The Approaching Storm’ if you know what I mean. 😉 Despite not being a reference to TPM.

I decided I wanted to put my mental C-3PO inventory to some more good use, so I spent a few minutes screwing around with the scene where 3PO gets his memory back.

THIS IS ROUGH, I haven’t done anything with pruning the audio yet, this is just raw lines used:

I really didn’t like the joke about R2 “putting something in his head” as well as the smash cut mid-sentence, so I changed it.

I hope Snooker gets a chance to see my “mistress Rey” line replacement since she was the one who gave me the idea!

Here’s a poser for you all, do any BTS photos of Sebastian Shaw as Anakin exist? There are plenty in the Vader costume and makeup, but I’ve never seen one in the Jedi robes. Were Shaw, Sir Alec, and Yoda shot together or separately?

Edit, found this in Wookiepedia:

George Lucas personally directed Shaw for his appearance in the final scene of the movie, in which he is a Force ghost of Anakin Skywalker dressed in brown and white robes, his prior burns and injuries completely healed. The footage was shot against a blue screen and the characters of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, with whom Anakin exchanges glances and smiles, were added later. Shaw did not know the purpose of the footage and believed it to be publicity, not for the film. When directing the scene, Lucas simply advised the actor, “Look happy, smile.”

Here are some BTS pics I found of the unmasking, couldn’t find any for the ghost scene:

Thanks man!! never actually done any voice over work before but it’s something I’ve thought about in passing. also I’m full kiwi, the aussie probably comes from some friends and clone wars lol

Awesome! Welcome aboard then, always nice to have another brother from the southern hemisphere on here, I do lots of my posting whilst everyone else is asleep, so It’ll be good to have someone of a similar time to me.

I just sent in some of my own lines to Hal so pretty soon the fleet of 9000 will have a new member, in all of his Australian glory!

Let this also be a gentle reminder to all of you who haven’t had a chance to submit yet, Hal is still recruiting! We don’t really need anymore “For Skywalker” lines since we have lots, but we may need more lines like: “Let’s go!” “Right behind you Lando/Poe!” “We are the fire that’ll burn the first order down!” etc… etc…

Dom's (Possibly) Useful TROS Edit (WIP)
Time

Sorry for the minor bump, but I’m curious to know if any more progress has been made to the removal of Rey Palpatine? I feel like Hal’s thread should begin to start addressing this elephant in the room. It’s all perfectly fine to continue with more minor audio and VFX changes but this aspect will require some serious brainpower to solve.

After all, Hal is depending on this edit to give him the ideas and motivation he needs to fix it. 😉

Much appreciated lol

Also, I think this is literally my first post ever, but I’ve been stalking this thread for a while now and everyone’s work is just absolutely fantastic.

Woah, mate…

Just recognised that you were the one who says “We believe in you Poe!” Your delivery is so perfect with all the lines you sent! Have you done voiceovers before?

Also, I can tell you’re from New Zealand, but do I detect some Aussie in you as well? 😄
