I think you misunderstand Idir, Hal is saying he is second guessing using Dominic’s added Ach’To shot for when Rey meets Luke as a ghost. This has nothing to do with the ending montage.

I like the Jakku shot since it sort of works well as a metaphor for the First Order fleet becoming another “relic of a bygone era”
Here’s how I would order the four planets, keep in mind that to include this shot of Corellia, a Star Destroyer will need to be added and the two characters running down the street need to go.
Normally I would vote not to reuse footage from Solo, but unless someone can find a way to create a scene without it, well…
Please, let me know if any of you have a way to create a relatively new shot instead, similarly to how Jonh and Poppasketti did.
Maybe Kashyyyk could work as the new “green” planet. It’s instantly recognizable and it’d be nice to see Chewie’s homeworld. Just take a shot from the Holiday Special.
I recommend you look up what Kashyyyk actually looks like in the Holiday Special and get back to me.
As for using Corellia, I was really bugged by the fact that removing the Ewok scene meant that the music looses a few seconds, adding a fourth planet would make it work beautifully.
Here’s another potential shot to use from Solo, although Han and Qi’Ra will need to be erased.
Yeah, Corellia is a great idea for a spinoff planet to include. Maybe the sky in that screenshot could be changed to night, those deflector shield spheres could be edited to be burning, and a falling star destroyer could be added to the sky? Just some ideas.
I REALLY want Corellia! 😫 But I never intended on that shot being used, as I don’t think it would really be fitting, I just wanted to give a visual example of it. I actually kinda hate footage from other Star Wars films being repurposed in fanedits, unless, the original source has the footage removed or the footage has been heavily edited.

Seeing as to how we’ve added Coruscant to the end montage already, it seems almost critical that we add it to the scene of the conference room, so it’s a ‘+1’ from me to see that idea come to life.
I LOVE the idea of a fourth planet being added to both preserve the music and strengthen that little montage… We just need to come up with something, I understand the desire to show Kijimi since it wasn’t destroyed, but I feel it might shrink the scope of the uprising if we show I planet we literally just saw. I like the idea of using an anthology planet rather than a saga planet so that we have one from each, might I suggest Corellia? It’s a well established planet in the EU, most fans will recognise it from Solo, and it has a massive population that would have been oppressed by the First Order so a ‘rising up’ would be appropriate.
In order to make the montage a little more visually diverse, consider the colours of each of the planets, Coruscant: very yellow, Bespin: orange/red, Jakku: quite brown. Originally, Endor was there, adding a lot of green and blue. I would argue that if we add another planet, it should be something to this effect.

It will require great problem solving to fulfil your points about Rey’s arc, obviously the Fan-Editing category isn’t the place to discuss any poor story decisions made by the filmmakers and things like that, but I hope that through culminating ideas and experimentation with edits, we might be able to come up with something… it may be weak, it may be meaningless and pathetic, but it might even be fun just to give it a try… 😉

I have to admit that when I first heard of Hal and Dominic’s plans to eradicate Rey Palpatine, I was skeptical…
I believed that the concept of Rey being the direct granddaughter of Palpatine was too embedded in the film to be successfully removed. That was, until, DominicCobb showcased a handful of test clips that completely changed my mind.
Now I believe the time has come to push this concept a step further, that is why I have created this thread to be the ultimate collaboration of all things related to making Rey NOT Palpatine’s granddaughter.

I recently extracted all the audio from The LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens video game, looking for Kylo stuff that could be useful in a “Rey nobody” edit. Unfortunately it seems like either the extraction went wrong or all the files are just mislabeled, because stuff labeled Kylo Ren is clearly not. This got me thinking, since Poppasketti already has experience doing a single line for Kylo Ren and Axlanian seems to enjoy applying voice filters and audio mixing, could we potentially combine these skills to create some new Kylo lines for Hal 9000 and DominicCobb’s ‘Rey Nobody’ cuts? I remember Poppasketti actually repurposed actual reverb effects from the films when he created that “You were right” line… It makes me think that a collabarative task with all you guys would allow us to create some great replacement lines!
