Hey guys, Remember when Star wars had writing like this?
Time
Six to one, half a dozen to another. They're all shit compared to how they could look if they were given a proper restoration treatment...Criterion style or something.

I simply will not accept such a shabby product. No one, no how is going to change my mind into accepting these pieces of shit for anything more than what they are...shit.

I will point out one thing....LFL has something in common with the majority of its fans...low standards.

Extracting menus, etc.
Time
Hey there!!!

Is there a program that will extract menus and such from a DVD? I remember reading a post about such a program....I want to say it was called DVDExtractor or something....but I can't find that post anymore.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

What I want to do is take the EditDroid edition of Star Wars and extract the sequence that has the Episode 4 crawl and the sequence that does not have the Episode 4 crawl....and then I want to reassemble them in DVD Lab Pro using seamless branching, but I want to use make my own menus.

I would recommend the first Rocky film above all!!!

Next, see First Blood. It's the first Rambo movie....it is so worth it for the end....always kinda moved me since my Dad was in Vietnam and told me how the troops were treated when they got back home.

Here's some more....

Rambo 2 - damn fine movie, but senselessly violent....who could ask for anything more?
Demolition Man - a great movie all around.
Cliffhanger - a bit of a mindless action/stunt movie....I loved it.
Cobra - great just for the lousy acting, bad dialogue and cliched cop stuff. It's so bad it's good, I swear!!! My favorite Stallone film actually.
Over The Top - Rocky meets arm wrestling.....very cheesy movie, but I love it for some reason.

Man, Stallone movies were great back in the day!!! Between those and the Ah-nuld movies, you never got bored in the 80s!!!

Guess no one plays.....

That's okay though....the game went in a sucky direction and the players who were there from the beginning all pretty much left cuz they were pissed off, so if no one here played it, they didn't miss anything.

I just thought the whole game was a perfect example of how the name SW was being used to basically screw people over royally to get their money.

Ah...you must be referring to the three disk box set that was released last Christmas without the bonus disks for people who weren't interested in the bonus material.. I know the one you speak of now. I've seen it around at Best Buy. I think it was taken off the shelf so the limited edition could be sold.

I would wait until after the limited editions disappear at the end of the year and then ask about them. Chances are you will find one.

Anyone here still play this MMORPG?

I know it went downhill completely. I bought it at launch and thought it was a total piece of shit. I hung around to see if it got better, but ended up leaving cuz I thought it was boring. Thankfully, that was before the new enhancements came out which changed the whole game totally and pissed a LOT of people off.

Anyone still play or keep up on what's going on with it?

Are you talking about the Best Buy exclusive tin that had all three limited edition DVDs? It did have the artwork from one of the original movie posters on it.

If that's what you're talking about, then I believe it's gone. I've kept an eye out for it at Best Buy and it hasn't shown up. I think it was only available in the first week or two the release was available. You can still buy the three movies separate until the end of the year.

You can still find it all over eBay though....

ROCKY BALBOA
Time
When I first heard about this movie, I rolled my eyes like most other people did, I'm sure, but after hearing what's being said about it, I and most definitely going to see it in the next few weeks and I certainly think I'm going to like it a lot.

As for the negativity against it.....I understand where it's coming from. It seems Hollywood is really out of ideas and they're just recycling old ones and doing a really shitty job of it too, so I understand why some people don't even want to look at Rocky Balboa.

We all expect great movies and sometimes we find them in the most unlikely places. I thought for sure this movie would bite big time and was just an aging actor trying to get into the spotlight by milking the role that made him what he is, but I forgot one thing....Stallone's movies have always had a lot of heart...even some of the bad ones. Who's to say Rocky's journey had to end after the first one? Some of the Rocky movies were a bit much (4), but even at their worst, they were still VERY damn good. I used to really dislike 5 and I've been thinking about it a lot lately with this new one on the horizon.

There's a scene in 5 between Rocky and Adrienne where Rock is all pissed and disappointed at how everything's turned out and Adrienne tells him that he won all those fights with heart. That scene just keeps sticking in my head for some reason. It never did before, but it does now. Don't know why. I think maybe some have become so cynical of everything that's come out of Hollywood that they can't recognize a good movie when they see it. I've certainly been that way, but I'm giving this movie a chance. Rocky got a second chance at the title, didn't he?

Sorry for the long and somewhat corny post.....the Rocky movies have always touched a nerve with me. There's something about them, ya know?

And I'm not getting soft on Hollywood either....they still make shit films.....and Lucas, the SE, the PT, etc still blow chunks no matter how many second chances they get.

The whole look of ESB in 1980 is more blue-ish, and it is a flat grey on the OOT DVD's. I think ESB looks the worse of the 3 OOT movies, cause the colors are just so dull the whole movie. Check out the whole look of Hoth on the '04 DVD's, that is the true color of how Kersh shot in 1980, not fucking grey!!!

I'd have to borrow the 04 editions from my Dad to check this out. I remember it being blue....I'm just not sure it was AS BLUE as the 04 DVDs are.

Either way...I have a pretty burned in my head image of how Empire should look. I never realized I had been watching and ORIGINAL theater presentation of ESB until I came to this site and heard everyone talk about such things.

The thing I don't really remember was the official video releases in the 80s....were they accurate with their coloring and such? I bought the trilogy back in 92 and they pretty much matched what I had been watching all along, but my memory is fuzzy..plus I didn't look for such things back then.

To me part of the point of having this on DVD is to preserve how we used to have to watch it. Unless you were there when it was first unspooled, these issues were present to varying degrees even in the theater.

Agreed with CO, that's total bullshit that it represents the way it looked in theaters. It never had all that grain and crap when it was first projected on screens back then. You don't know what you're talking about, Gomer.

CO is dead-on-balls correct on the Star Destroyers looking blue in the original prints. I had a Betamax bootleg of ESB that was recorded in the theaters during the original run of the film. I watched the living shit out of that bootleg all throughout the 80s and those Star Destroyers were damn blue!!! I have an absolute 100% clear motherfucking memory of that, Gomer. Clueless.

TFN should be turned into toilet paper so we can wipe our asses with it.....

I don't have a problem with people who only dig the original SW film. More power to 'em, I think. I'm an OOT fan, but I think it's cool to like just the first film. No one can say I'm intolerable. There's too many jerkoff mods on TFN and SW.com that impede any kind of serious discussion about the merits of just SW or just SW and ESB. I think the mods on those boards are worse than any of the Gomers that are out there. They're the ones who have gotten the fanbase so at each other's throats.

Here's something that I would really like to know....

...what the hell was Lucas thinking when he made the SEs??? Forget the vision thing and all that. Did he ever stop and think about how people would react to what he was doing?

He had to know that what he was doing was going to piss some people off and that they would be vocal about it. And if he knew that, then why go ahead and do it in the first place? Did he think people would just roll over and blindly accept whatever he did?

I just want to know what was going through that melon head of his that he thought he could do this and think it was okay. I think the guy's got some mental issues actually. OCD or something, I don't know what. Some people do go fucking bonkers when they get money and success though. Maybe it's just more subtle with him than with, say a rock star who ODs.

I agree with ALL of you here.

The PT is not really the problem. The SE is. If the SEs never happened and then we got the mediocre PT that we have now, then fans would just be arguing over how and why the PT sucks, but cuz the SE is there, we argue about the whole damn thing and it's only further divided the fan base.

When you really look at it, the SE is what totally fucked everything up. If the PT was bad, you could just ignore it and focus on the OT, but since the OT is tampered with, you can't really ignore ANYTHING. The PT goes with the SE anyway, not the OOT, so it becomes WAY more complicated.

Shit man...what a way to treat your fans!!! Divide them and watch them squirm. I SOOOOO want to flip a booger in Lucas' face.

I know deep down I hold star wars very high as a example of what great film is supposed to be and most of my dissapointment with the PT, beyond the bad acting and writing comes from knowing that with just five more minutes of thought put into things here and there, it could have been improved, maybe not meet the high expectations, but come to a level that doesn't embarass itself or insult our intellegences as an audience.

This is quite simply an amazing statement!!! It sums up absolutely everything about the whole situation with the PT. If only PT gushers and Lucas lovers could get this through their heads.

A standing ovation for this....
