Ewan McGregor Interview In Playboy
Time
Here's an excerpt from Ewan's recent interview in Playboy. Pretty much sums up the Prequels to me.....

McGregor: Star Wars has been important in my career, though the movies were hard to make.

Playboy: In what way?

McGregor: They were horrendously difficult because you do so much of your work in front of a blue screen. Backgrounds and effects are added later. It's tedious, and there's no soul to them. By the nature of those movies, all the creative work is done afterward. They don't spend nearly as long on the acting as they do on everything else.

Playboy: Harrison Ford once told George Lucas, "You can type this shit, George, but you sure can't say it." Is he right? Is the dialogue particularly difficult for an actor?

McGregor: If you had really good dialogue in a Star Wars movie, it wouldn't be a Star Wars movie anymore. The people are two-dimensional, which has almost become the style. I loved being in them. Among the nicest things for me was meeting Hayden Christensen, who is great, and Natalie Portman, because I think she's a wonderful girl as well as incredibly bright and passionate.

Great interview, by the way. This guy is easily going to be the Harrison Ford of this trilogy and go on to amazing things. I wish the guy all the best. He's truly awesome!!!

Ok....I'll give it a try myself. There's not too much cutting to do. I think BR has like 3 or 4 blank spots and THX has 2 or 3. Can't be that much work....

Can someone describe to me the basic steps to go about this. I have the movies on DVD already, the the files with be the VOBs. How do I get them from the VOBs to editable form? Please add in anything that you think might help.

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Printing out DVD Labels
Time
Hey There everyone!!!

I see all the great DVD cover art on here and I was wondering something.

I don't have a color laser printer (which obviously gives the better looking results when you print these out), but I would love to print these labels out for my own OOT set.
I'm not exactly the richest person and a color laser printer seems to run at about $500.

Is there an alternative? Is there a place I can go to have this stuff printed at super high quality and just pay a modest fee? Is there an online service that does it and mails it to you?

Hey there, everyone!!!

I’ve been wanting to post this forever, but always keep forgetting to do so.

I have the LD versions of Blade Runner and THX-1138 on DVD. They are complete and in great quality. Just a simple copy from LD to DVD kind of thing on CD-R. I have the LDs and did the copying myself, so all is legal!!!

However, the movies have the breaks in them where the disk was turned over and changed. I would love to get this editied together into on continuous movie and I don’t know how to do this.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I’m a novice at this stuff though. I would love if someone more experienced would do it for me though.
I’ve seen the work done here on the Star Wars LDs and I know I’m asking the right people cuz you guys who do the editing on those LDs did an awesome job.

Well....

Pretty much no new announcements at all!!!!

No Episode 3 DVD info......no info at all!!!!

Just that the new animated series will be out in the Fall of 2007.

Other than that, it was all that Star Wars Is Forever bullshit!!! That is the stupidest catch-phrase I ever heard.

Oh well.....

And Mark Hamill is universally loved......by all!!! Met the man...I bow to his greatness any day!!!

Isn't Natalie Portman going this year for her new V for Vendetta movie and not Star Wars?

Yes Queball Portman is going to be there for V For Vendetta more than Star Wars. But I'm sure the SW fans will drool nonetheless. She won't be signing autographs, just giving an appearence.

I'll bet something happens with some wack job fan and she gets totally freaked out and regrets she ever did Star Wars.

I see her and Ewan as the ones who will openly regret appearing in them as time goes by.

Hayden will make his bread and butter on SW after his career goes down the shitter.

Cable's predictions will come true.....cuz you read it here first!!!

Just kidding either way....I hope all the actors go on to significant and long careers. But LucASS deserved to lose everything and live in a cardboard box.

Okay...I'm done.

Hey there everyone!!!

The big convention of the year is Comicon in San Diego and it's starting today and running through to Sunday. Usually, everyone comes out for this one. LucASSfilm has a big presence there this year. You can keep track of it at starwars.com. Considering that last year at this same convention, LFL revealed what the title was for Episode 3...they may have some big announcements this year also. Supposedly, the specs for the Episode 3 DVD will be released and just maybe, there will be some info on a Saga boxset.

So let's keep our collective fingers crossed that somehow, LucASS has changed his mind and decided to include the OOT in this future DVD Saga set. If he is planning this, then this convention would be the place to announce it.

whatever happened to Corey Feldman??
Time
I believe I heard he was acting in an off-Broadway play and was doing pretty good.

Funny, I heard that he and Corey Haim still get offers to do movies, TV Shows and Reality Shows together and they won't do it.

Thank God...that's something we can thankfully live without.

Those two were like king of the hill back in the late 80s.

I did like License To Drive though....that was their height of popularity.

What is your favourite reference to Star Wars films in other shows (TV and Film)?
Time
The best reference, etc....is from the beginning of Chasing Amy....

Some quick quotes for yas.....

Holden: Lando Calrissian was a positive role model for blacks....he got to fly the Millennium Falcon!!!
Hooper-X: Man, FUCK Lando Calrissian!!

Hooper-X: and then there's Vader....the blackest brother in the galaxy, nubian motherfucker...
Banky: What's a Nubian?
Hooper-X: Shut the fuck up!!!

Hooper-X: ...and Jedi is the most insulting installment....in that film, Vader's beautiful black visage is soiled and underneath we see a feeble, white man.....they're saying that all black people wants to be white!!!
Banky: Well, don't they?

Sorry for the language....but that part has me on the floor everytime.....it is just too damn funny!!!

If he releases them.....you will never hear a peep from me about the subject again.

As for the cost of restoring the OOT for DVD release....I remember reading an article a while back which LucASS said that each movie would cost 10 million to restore. So that's 30 million total, no small change. And he said he definitely wouldn't do it cuz he didn't want to put the money into it or the effort.

So....there you have it. But someone had asked Rick McCallum at Celebration 3 about getting the OOT on DVD and he said that the people at LucASSfilm wanted to release it, but LucASS was sitting on it. So he's the one who's holding it up. If it does see the light of day, it will be a cheapie release guarenteed!!!

Cable-X1, do you see these lines when playing the original tapes?

Yep.....when the problem first happened, I plugged the VCR directly into the TV to see if the copy protect gizmo was causing this....and the line was there. The exact same line has popped up on 3 different tapes. Two of them are Star Wars and Empire from the 95 faces release. The other is a music video that I bought about 4 or 5 years ago, but it was originally released in '87 or '88. I think the tape was manufactured a lot later than that though. Figured I throw this info out there as Davidian talked about copy protection from '79 or '79.

I haven't tried your suggestion yet MBJ, of moving the VCR away from everything cuz I don't think that is what is causing it. I have one tape that played flawlessly already and I tried another and it played okay too, but it is a very old tape that is going bad already. I looked for the line as best as I could and I didn't see it.

Nothing is matching up......the line pops up on several different tapes, on two different machines, with or without the copy protect gizmo. One tape has played perfect. Sounds like a damn riddle.

Any other ideas?

Appreciate the help everyone!!!

Here's the pics of that problem......they're the best I can do......but the line is clearly visible....

Pic 2

Any ideas, anyone?

Have you tried tapping the tape hard on your hand? Sometimes the tape gets just slightly misaligned with the heads and needs a short, sharp shock, just to get back into place. Also you could try ffing the tape to the end then rewinding. Sometimes that helps.

I tried both of these suggestions and neither helped. The line is still there and goes away at the same time as before.

Is there a girl buried in a well underneath your TV room?

Thanks MBJ.....now I'm not going to answer the damn phone for the rest of my life!!!!

Also, if it helps.....when the distortion line disappears.....I let the tape run a while....then I rewind it and the line appears and then disappears at the exact time as before.

The distortion line is a line that goes all the way across the screen from left to right and it's about a quarter of the way down from the top. There's really no other way I can describe it other than a distortion line and messes the picture up.

Pics to follow soon.

As far as I know they're shielded. But if the speakers are so close, wouldn't that affect the whole recording not just a specific time? It always happens just at the beginning, even right now....the picture is clear and fine.

I would say the VCR is about a foot underneath the TV in a TV stand, but the speaker is right next to it. I have tall floor speakers. The VCR is practically on the floor.

I'm currently recording, so I will have pictures in a little while.

VHS To DVD Problem
Time
Hey there guys!!!

Need some help on a problem I'm having and I know some of you out there have some experience with this.

I am converting some old VHS stuff to DVD. I'm using a Sony DVD recorder with a Sony VHS player going throught the LINE IN input. I have a converter in between the recorder and the player that will allow me to copy copy-protected stuff (and you can buy it at Best Buy!!!!) with no problem.

Here's my issue......on some VHS tapes, I'm having this line of distortion appearing toward the top of the screen about a quarter of the way down in the picture. It shows up in a full frame movie and in a widescreen movie that I'm trying to copy. It shows up in the beginning of the film, but seems to go away after a few minutes. Then, it will come back for just an instant or two and then eventually disappear for good.

Here's what I've tried so far......I went out and bought another VHS player and tried one tape on it and the distortion line showed up while playing on the new player also. I only tried one tape, not any others. I also plugged the player directly into the TV and did not use the copy protect gizmo and I still got the distortion line. So, to me, that eliminated the copy protect and recorder as a cause of the problem. I figured it was the tape, so I returned the new VHS player I bought and got a new copy of the movie.

Now I just recorded 3 VHS tapes to DVD and the first one recorded with no problems. The second had the distortion line like I originally described. The third tape went like this: I popped it in and forwarded to the part where I wanted to start recording. Got everything going, pressed record and play....everything was fine for a second and then the distortion line came up and was only visible for a few seconds and then disappeared altogether.

Any ideas what is causing this?

I've looked at it from every angle and I can't see that the player or the tapes are the problem. Nothing is making sense here.

I super-appreciate any help!!!!

Earliest TV or Movie Memories
Time
I have vague memories of seeing Empire and Raiders in the theater. I know I went, but I can't really remember anything about them. I remember seeing Raiders a second time very clearly though.

I also remember seeing Black Hole in the theater cuz we sat pretty close to the screen and my parents took me to see Jedi twice.

My memories didn't seem to fully kick in untill I saw Star Trek 2. I remember that VERY clearly!!! Those eel things freaked me out!!!
