Sorry, your information is incorrect.

The DVD set is done. Lucas and McCallum have said so. But it won't be released until Indy 4 comes out. They want to sell that behind an Indy movie release. LFL is all about selling things behind major media events and Indy 4 would be the event to put the YIC out with.

What we will get is not the originally aired episodes. The Old Indy bookends are gone and there are new ones in their place. I'm kinda bummed about that. I liked the old man actually. Lucas just can't leave anything alone.

Most people who have gotten the death penalty have indisputable evidence against them. Name a concrete case with a website or some document we can see, to back up your claim that an innocent has been given the death penalty, but was found innocent after the fact. Don't speak in vagues. Only give us concrete evidence or shut the fuck up. If you want to get all high and mighty about it, then at least back up your claims about the innocent person.

You guys all make some pretty excellent points...there's far too many for me to comment on them individually, but here's this....

We all seem to be in agreement that the prequels blew and Lucas really flubbed a good opportunity. Whether or not Lucas even tried seems to be up for debate with no one really right or wrong actually. So how about this...

...anyone think that Lucas should have just redone the whole damn thing? Went right back and made 1-3 and then totally redid 4-6 with new actors, new storylines, etc? Sort of like a re-imagining a la Battlestar Galactica?

He could have remastered the originals and put them out there as a separate entity, but then went back and did it all his way from the beginning. He could have taken a que from Phil Jackson and did one trilogy back to back, waited a few years and did the other...this time in order and changed so they flowed better. I would have accepted that. We'd have classic SW and neo SW then....you could take either one you liked.

It might not seem like much, man....but THANK YOU for all that you do. I know it's not easy. Cops deal with far too much shit and they barely get a pot to piss in. You've got your belly full and you're still going out there and making a difference. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it you are, but just by being there you are. There are lots of idiots out there who cry and moan about every little thing a cop does.

I fucking hate that show with a passion. My GF loves it though and always tells me about it. She called me and told me to turn it on cuz Jewel was one of the judges. It was Jewel, so I couldn't help myself and tuned in. Talk about the most painful experience ever. I winced so many times, it hurt. It's like a glorious train wreck...so I understand why people can't take their eyes off it sometimes.

I hate the show for a fundamental reason. I think it hurts music cuz it's only out to make money. There are bands and singers out there who are paying their dues working shit jobs, playing crappy clubs and busting their asses to be heard and they've got more talent than anything that wins AI. They're the ones that deserve to be heard, not stupid pop tarts like Kelly Clarkson. She didn't pay any dues. She basically won a beauty contest where you sing and now she's on the fast track. There are musicians out there who should be heard, but won't cuz they don't fit in with what AI is looking for. The whole show is just wrong...in the same way MTV was wrong.

Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 said something about AI back when it started that really stuck with me....he said something to the effect that the whole concept was wrong. You go on there and they pick you apart and tell you what you should be doing and what you should wear and how you sing. You're not being you then if you do what other people tell you to do. What gets you somewhere in music is your own individuality.

I'm paraphrasing from memory, of course....but Rob hit it right on the head. Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd never did what others told them to do. They did it their way and their legends for it. All that comes out of AI is disposable pop that makes a few people rich and that music will be hardly remembered at all in 20 years.

My respect for Jewel went down a notch or two though. She's someone who paid her dues and actually has talent and writes good songs with some meaning. What the fuck is she doing on that fucking Star Search ripoff???

Sorry to go off like this people....music is something I take very seriously. I don't mind pop fluff, but when it comes at the price of good and deserving artists, then I have to say stop. If I ever met Simon Cowell, I'd punch his fucking lights out. I'd do it just giving us the Spice Girls....

Sorry to have skipped over your post, ferris209 with my own silly post, but what you said was indeed insightful. I doubt people like Gomer have the benefit of your experience. I'd listen to you before I'd listen to stupidity like his.

I have to ask something though.....is it really the legal system that needs an overhaul like so many say or should something really be done about all the lawyers who I think certainly have fucked things up more than anyone else has?

I've always thought it was the lawyers and you say that they would be all over you if so much as a misspelled word was on your report. To me, that's just ridiculous. To release someone who is clearly guilty over something so mundane is retarded beyond belief.

We appreciate what you bring to the table. And I agree that people like Gomer are dangerous. They have their heads up their ass and need to get down in the shit and see how things really are. Problems don't get solved by being a pussy and using kid gloves. You have to nip the problem in the ass and that takes tough people sometimes. People like Gomer aren't tough, they're soft and shit just gets worse when you're soft.

Come on Gomer....get your ass in here and try to take on ferris209's point of view!!!

As this relates to Go-Mer, of course he will always be Go-Mer. I have known him from the TFN days since 1999 or so, and he hasn't changed one iota in those 8 years, and we won't ever. We can only hope that he merely refrains from posting stupidity, which indeed he has to a certain degree if you could see him on TFN circa 2001.


Tell us about some of this stupidity that he said....I'm oddly curious.

Actually, the point you are trying to make just penetrated my thick skull....there is no need to tell any backstory.

As an example, there's plenty of backstory in LOTR and it's only briefly mentioned in the books. There really is no need to write a whole story behind it, although Tolkien did explain it in other books.

Lucas could have gone that same route and just not bothered to do any more stories or done an entirely new trilogy completely seperated from the OT, but maybe introducing some elements. It's an interesting point and I agree that Lucas does not have the creativity to have done a whole new trilogy.

Damn that's good. It puts it into a whole new light if you just want to watch the OOT and forget everything that came afterward.

A part of me still thinks that the Anakin backstory would still make a good set of movies.....but with the point you make, I wonder if my (and others') thinking is just the result of there being and EPISODE (insert roman numeral) at the beginning of each movie. Since you have that, you think this is a series and you're obligated to be interested in the other episodes of the series.

Interesting....very interesting......was the whole PT even necessary. Definitely strengthens the whole argument that Lucas is doing this only for money. Perhaps some of us (like Gomer) give Lucas far too much credit as an "artist."

As things stand now, I wish Lucas would have left well alone.

But I really think it was good to make 1-3. I think it was the logical thing to do. There was a hell of an interesting story there. The Jedi being betrayed by one of their own and getting ruthlessly slaughtered. The government of an entire galaxy being subverted into a fascist state and the role one man plays in it and how his offspring will have to ultimately deal with it. That's some good shit dammit!!!

Lucas just couldn't deliver the goods. To be honest, I don't really have a problem with that at all. It's happened in rock music so many times, it hurts. A band comes off that great album and just can't deliver a good one if it kills them. Not to shift the focus, but the only reason I'm so perturbed by it all is that Lucas changed the OT and dragged it down into the shithole where the PT came from. If I could just get a remastered OT, I could let all this go in a heartbeat. I'm not going to settle for shit releases, but give me the good ones and to hell with all this crap. I'll watch that and be perfectly content.

Sorry to take it off topic, but that's what it all comes down to.

And yeah CO...I got exposed to the Rocky movies in the same way. R1 is an indisputable classic all the way even though I particularly enjoy 3 and saw it first. It took age to realize that. These kids aren't going to like the PT/Saga when they get older. I loved the OT to this day and I'm rapidly becoming an old fuck. These kids will wake up one day and realize it...and then I will giggle my ass off when they say it sucks.
