If he had listened to what the fans want, then he would be the studios. I mean, he spent over 10 years of his life devoted to them. I think he knew exaqctly what he wanted and what he needed in order to tell the story he wanted to tell.

Adam....Lucas DOES NOT KNOW what he wants.

You need to get your head and your ass wired together and realize that Lucas has been MAKING THIS SHIT UP AS HE'S GOING ALONG!!!

First off......we DON'T know the power of the dark side!!!! It was never really shown. All we saw was fuckin lightning bolts from the emperor.

Was anyone else besides me disappointed that we didn't get to see more dark side abilities in ROTS?

I think that's why that line on ROTJ doesn't make sense. Just further proof that the PT has dragged down the OT's greatness.

Lucas Did Not Think about It

The very reason he is changing his own is so that the next generations can see the films the way he intended, no harm in that.

And you will find that most of us here have no problem with that. The problem is that the originals are not available and they should be. Just as all those B&W films should be released unaltered, SW should be too. And the reasons go deeper....

It's all a question of history and preservation. If Lucas doesn't release the OOT and makes good on his statement that the films no longer exist in their original form, then those versions are lost forever.

That means that historians in a century or two will look back on late 20th century pop culture and they will see that film was changed and heavily influenced by some science fiction movie called Star Wars. Naturally those historians will want to see this movie to look at its significance. The problem is....they won't see what was released in theaters in May 1977. Instead they will see some movie that was revised over and over again and was finished in the 2000s. No one can deny that the film Star Wars has been a major influence in the world of pop culture. Shouldn't it be preserved for history's sake? Shouldn't people in 500 years look back on it and see what the big deal was?

I hate what Lucas has done cuz it's revisionist history. It makes me wonder how much other history has been revised or rewritten over the years. Makes me not want to believe ANYTHING. I know it's just a movie, but it's the idea that bothers me. It should be preserved and I say to hell with Lucas' original vision and to hell with his changes and to hell with him. What he is doing is the result of pure arrogance brought on my Hollywood ass kissing and too much money and too much power.

He doesn't like the way the movie turned out, so he's just going to go back and change it. That's not much different than some tyrant who wants to wipe out and idea cuz he doesn't agree with that idea.

Just thought of something...

I think that all video games should be re-released in their original forms unaltered so that they can be played on whatever current technology is around at the time.

I sure wish I could get the Dooms, Star Wars: Dark Forces and Wolfenstein 3D to play correctly on Windows 2000/XP.....

Movies, games, TV shows, cartoons and animation, books, comic books....EVERYTHING that is considered art should be released in its original form. There's no reason to screw around with any of it. If someone does mess with it....then it's okay only if the original is available also.

I think Adam is that kid in high school that we all know who will say anything to be liked by everyone....

I don't care what it is. Hell, I like the ewok movies and the holiday special. If it's a sci-fi series set in the Star Wars universe, I will like it, no matter what.

Adam....no offense meant nor am I trying to start trouble here, but if Lucas came to a sudden halt, your face would go halfway up his ass.

Lucas has taught me what a Liar is.

I will just rent them whenever George the nitwit releases new versions. I will watch them....laugh at the changes and return them feeling good that I didn't waste good money on crap.

Then I will watch my own preservation of the OOT and laugh more at all the money Georgie boy could be making if he would pull his head out of his ass and release them.

As for the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray releases...we ain't gonna see those for a LOOOOOONG time. LFL will not put anything out in any new format untill there is a clear winner and the format is firmly established. Look at how long it took them to embrace DVD to put out any SW releases. LFL is not going to waste money putting SW out in THREE diferent formats (DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray). It will just come out in normal DVD cuz that is the most prevalent right now.

HD or Blu-ray have a while to go before they even get on the level. The formats still have to come out. Then there's the possible format war. The players for the formats are supposed to start out at $1000. It will take a year of two for the price of that to come down and then you have to get people to buy them. Whoever wins is still going to have a couple of years before they get a foothold on the public.
When all that's good and done, then LFL will START to consider putting anything SW out on that format.

Anyone who's waiting for SW to come out in HD-DVD or Blu-Ray is gonna have a nice long wait....probably close to 3 or 4 years, IMHO.
