The point is, someone (gasp) watched them in order, (gasp) liked the prequels, and (gasp) liked and saw them as one saga because they were a new viewer, with none3 of that "I am your father" childhood nostalgia affecting them. They saw them how they were meant to be seen. Boy, would I love to havce been them!


Aside from the "childhood nostalgia" comment from someone who STILL is a child, it was the GASPS that I found unneccesary.

Big deal....so some SW virgin popped her cherry watching all six in order.

Still doesn't change the fact that those films she saw are not available in their original version........

That "experiment" proves nothing.......

Naturally, ppl who have not seen any SW films and watch all six in order are going to think that way. Does that negate my opinion that 4-6 were better in their original versions? No. Does that mean that I have to like 1-3 even though they suck ass when compared to the original originals? No.

Bullshit experiment. Try that with new and old versions, in order and in 4,5,6,1,2,3 order, then come back to us with the results.

I used to like some stuff about each prequel movie.....but now, I really dislike everything in them. The only thing they hold for me is the nostalgia of the time when I saw them.......'99 and '02 were interesting summers for me.

But as for the movies themselves......pretty much anything I liked died when Vader screamed, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" I can't believe these movies turned out to be this bad. Even the musical scores aren't grabbing me like they used to.

Now the SEs.......Lucas can take those hunks of shit and shove them right up his ass.

In my mind, there is no SEs or PT.....period.

You have brought up Blade Runner and the Narnia books in an attempt to entice arguement. I'm not saying that we have any power to get rid of you, but someone can start a thread asking for opinions on whether or not you should be banned. I'm more than sure that the majority would support banning you and Jay would definitely take notice. Whether or not he does anything is up to him, but you are on thin ice as is.

All I'm saying is you should lay off.

I don't really think there ever was an original vision either. When you're creating a story, things are always very fluid. As you continue to map out the story, an earlier decision can turn out to be the wrong one, so you go back and change it. I'm no expert, but I'm a novice writer at best....so I can speak with some experience. I have a few stories that have changed so drastically from their original conception that they are barely recognizable anymore.

So whatever Lucas came up with that involved the green fishy Han Solo, or Annikin Starkiller and Luke being a 60 year old general is probably just an early draft of his story which kept changing.

I imagine that since it was turned into a movie, even more changes had to occur to accomodate budgets, etc.

But the point is that what became Star Wars was complimented by Empire and was then complimented by Jedi. I know we all have problems with Jedi, but it does fit in with Star Wars and Empire quite well. Nothing is really contradicted, if I recall correctly.

And that's where the problem is....Lucas didn't follow the story as it was originally shown in theaters. Instead he decided to change the OT so he could do whatever with the prequels.

Makes no sense......the prequels should have been the easiest 3 movies to make. The events of the OT dictate what has to happen in them.

Lucas is just plain crazy.

Here's an interesting and hilarious thing to do. I saw this on the official boards a very long time ago. Pick a scene from any of the three prequels and re-write the dialogue, turning it into a joke or something....

Examples:

From AOTC when Obi-Wan and Anakin are in the elevator going up to see Padme for the first time...

Obi-Wan: You're sweating!!! Relax!!!
Anakin: Master, I've been spanking it to this girl for TEN YEARS.
Obi-Wan: (looks at Anakin strangely) You too?
Anakin looks at Obi-Wan wide-eyed.

From AOTC during the infamous fireplace scene...

Anakin: When I'm away from you, it's like I can't breathe...
Padme: OH PUH-LEEZE!!!!! What kind of pick up lines are they teaching you at that temple? No wonder all you Jedi are virgins!!!

From ROTS during the scene when the eerie music is playing as Padme and Anakin are looking at each other from across Coruscant...

Anakin starts to cry a little bit, torn between the way of the Jedi and his love for Padme. A tear starts to from in his eye.
Anakin: I want my mom. (sob, sob)

You know...that theory has never come up in my mind.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least that Lucas probably hates SW cuz it's all he'll be remembered for. He's probably really freaked out by how much many fans are into it. Pretty sad actually. I would be really, really jazzed if people were that into something that I created.

It kind of reminds me of how the Seattle grunge bands handled success back in the early 90s. Many of them just ran away from the spotlight. Pearl Jam refused to make any music videos and that was practically inviting death, especially in the video age of music. Once the steam ran out on that whole genre of music, PJ's popularity tanked, partly due to that lack of videos playing on MTV. I could interpret that as the band wanting to reduce their success somewhat, but it doesn't make too much sense really.

The only person who can answer that is Lucas.......but he's made so much money off of SW so why would he feel that way......well....since when does anything Lucas does make sense anymore, right?
