Help me get BANNED on SW.COM!!!
Time
All right, all right.....

I had this idea a long while ago, but never got around to it. My SW political affiliations are simple....PT sucks, OOT rules. With the whole DVD issue that has popped up, I feel that Lucas has spit in our face for the last time and I'm tired of SW, tired to the point where I don't care anymore and I will NOT spend one more penny on ANYTHING SW. I've even gone through all my SW stuff and purged EVERYTHING having to do with the SEs and PT. I just want to forget everything that happened AFTER 1996.

So, there's the issue of my logon at SW.com....

I want to do something special here. I want to go out in a blaze of glory. I want to get banned with flair and style. I want to PISS off everyone and anyone I can to get banned. I want to insult Lucas, the whole SW organization, the mods, EVERYONE!!! And I'm going to document the whole thing for posterity. Or cuz I simply have nothing better to do, okay?

So, I want suggestions, little phrases you'd like to see someone say, ANYTHING. If you've got a beef with a mod on SW.com, speak your mind and I will post it. Anything goes here.....I'm going to make one big post that pisses off everyone and ultimately gets me banned, hopefully resulting in me getting totally blacklisted. If I can, I will sustain the thread until a mod does come along and bans me. Of course, I will try to follow up in the Forum Feedback if I can.

Come on, people....join me in my ULTIMATE BANNING!!!!

Of course, I want to remain on good terms here though. OT.com is the best SW board and always will be.

And in closing, I DO NOT want to hear any crap from anyone about how immature, childish and retarded this is. Hell, I KNOW it is. But it's NOWHERE near as retarded as how we long-time fans of the holy trilogy have been treated in the matter of getting the OOT on DVD. It's people like me who saw SW as a kid and bought all those toys and kept the faith over the years that put George Lucas where he is. Argue it to death all you want but it is totally true, so accept it. It was my allowance money and my parent's money that made SW what is and all I want in return is some GODDAMN respect to the movies I supported for so many years. So please, allow me to regress in maturity in peace. After this, I will have nothing to do with SW ever again......I will instead simply watch the original versions and remember fondly what Star Wars was and not what it has become.

This is my last hoorah in the SW world.....so just indulge me, okay? Have fun with it.

Finally Burned Out On Star Wars...
Time
Don't blame you in the least Cassidy!!!

I've been removed from SW for quite a while now and the initial news about the release brought me back, only to have my hopes dashed again. It's truly frustrating and you are right, unrewarding.

Once this nonsense with the OOT DVDs is over (for better or worse), I'm signing off completely not only from Star Wars, but from any Lucas output. I'm not buying a single Lucas-related product for the rest of my life. I will not see any of his movies, Indy 4 included. The only other thing I wanted was the Young Indy series and that is greatly altered from its original broadcast versions. I think I'm going to make the extra effort to find those on bootlegs. I just don't like Lucas anymore period. Never mind the changes or whatever we might think about the prequels, this latest news is unacceptable.

So, yeah, I hear ya Cassidy.....time to jump off this train....

Who has now lost all respect.........
Time
I am completely done with Lucas now.

We have to fight for every single, lousy inch to get these films on DVD. With all the requests that have been made to see these released, ANY company out there would break their behinds to get it into the hands of those who want it. This release is guaranteed to make $$$$. Why not put out the best possible product, even if it's just a barebones release? Give the people what they want in the best possible way and they will not only give you their money, they will respect you on a fundamental level. What Lucas is doing here is so senseless, it's hard to believe a rational human being is making the decision here.

Lucas is just plain insane. The man is simply not wired correctly in his head. His thinking is totally FUBAR.

He's not even worth the debate anymore. I say we still push cuz maybe we will get a better presentation, but if and when we get it, I will never give George Lucas, any Lucas company or any of his films a first thought, much less a second thought. This whole fiasco is downright stupid and more....it's totally unnecessary. There is no excuse for this.

The Future Of This Board
Time
I know everyone is singing YUB YUB!!! like crazy right now, seeing that we've won and all, I'd still like this site to continue in some way.

The perservations threads should continue no matter what. There is so much great info there, not to mention the original versions to so many OTHER films. Plus it's a great place for people interesting in film editing as a hobby.

At the very least, Jay....morph the site into a film preservation site where home editors can come to discuss their craft. Besides getting the OOT on DVD, the discussion in those threads is worth gold!!!!

Just my sincere wishes....

Oh. My. Fucking. God!!!!!

I can not believe this!!!! Talk about the shock of our lives here. I pretty much gave up all hope on this!!!!

Now....I hate to rain on the parade here, but we haven't got it in our hands yet, people. He could fuck the release up somehow, for all we know. Bad transfer, messed up sound, etc.... We're not home free yet, so keep up the chatter about wanting the ORIGINALS on DVD in the best possible way!!!!

Regardless.....THANK YOU GEORGE!!!! You've restored my faith in you quite a bit!!!!

However, "Star Wars" from 1977 walked home with 7 oscars. Guess which boat that movie gets to float in with? That's right, "Casablanca," "Gone With the Wind," "Lawrence of Arabia," "Titanic," a whole plethora of outstanding acadamy award winning movies.

What did the PT win? That's right. Jack shit. It should have won a Raspberry award. I'm surprised it wasn't nominated.

BWAH HA HA HA!! He said, "For the fans!" Bwah ha ha haha!!!

Any GOOD memories of the PT?
Time
I have two and only two great memories of the PT.

The First Great Memory Of The PT
Sitting in the theater before the midnight show of TPM and thinking that SW was back and it was gonna kick ass. The anticipation was just the best feeling ever.

The Second Great Memory Of The PT
Walking out of the theater after the midnight show of ROTS, thinking, "Thank God this shit is over cuz I can't take any more of these awful bullshit movies."

So basically it was the anticipation of the prequels cuz I THOUGHT they would be great and the relief that they were over after being completely fucked up and ruined beyond any and all repair.

Well (and apprently I've hijacked this thread here), I've always had an affinity for entertainment media (TV, movies, radio, theater, stage). I was originally I biology major, but couldn't pass organic chemistry, so I switch gears and took control of my other love - media.

I can't explain why I fell in love with cartoons. Probably because it is lower key, you can do anything in a cartoon, the potential for storylines is endless, and I have the utmost respect for voice actors. It's a art higher than anything Hollywood can produce. In audio, you focus on pure form and delivery of the line. You don't fuss with wardrobe and shout out "I'm ready for my close up now, Mr. Divile!"

To quote Mark Hamill, while working on the Radio Drama, "Radio is a very different form. Here, nobody can see how silly you look as you pretend to dangle from a weather vane. It's all about the delievery of the lines."

With the line of work that I want to go into, chances are good that I might actually work the Mr. Hamill himself from time to time, including a list of other well respected voice actors.

I have to agree with the stuff about animation and cartoons. You really do have unlimited freedom with that medium. I realized that when I saw the 1978 animated Lord Of The Rings. Love or hate the adaptation itself, you have to admit that the animation in the film is incredible. You can literally do ANYTHING you want with no constraints whatsoever.

I've been meaning to get into Japanimation or Anime or whatever it's called. I'm trying to compile a list of stuff to watch so I can get into it. That stuff, from what I hear is pretty impressive in terms of story. Definitely not your traditional Saturday morning cartoons. Also, there's an animated film coming out next summer based on the Conan books. I'm a big fan of the original stories and the early concept art looks mighty impressive. That should be very cool to see.

That is really awesome that you're into this stuff, Jenny. Wish I had pulled my head out of my butt when I was in school and applied myself more to that. It's more in line with my interests, which is story. I love stories of all kinds....doesn't matter if they're books, comic books, movies, TV shows, stage plays, you name it. Fits in with my pipe dream of being a writer. Cross fingers on that one.

Organic chemistry?!?!?! YUCK!!!! Your experience sounds like mine with Calculus....except I didn't wake up and switch gears.

Mark Hamill was awesome when I met him. He did the Joker's voice for me and it was great!!!

God willing, I'll be working in media. Exactly what, I don't know. But right now I'm into Audio Engineering, and hope to work with cartoon audio (sound FX, voice acting, music). That and movie audio, maybe what like Ben Burtt does.

Oh man, that's awesome!!! I hope you do it and kick ass at it!!! What inspired you to get into that kind of stuff? Other than Star Wars, I'm sure.....

She said she has a film teacher, so she's into films in a major way I would guess......so am I. So between that and SW, we have some common interests.

I'm getting a Bachelors degree in Communications with an emphasis in Film and Video. I graduate in 12 months! Woo!

This is too good to be true!!! A girl who's into SW to the point where she posts on a site like this.....describes how SW means to her in terms that are roughly the same as how I feel myself....AND she's available!!!!

All of us here love Star Wars for a variety of reason. Many (if not most) all of those reasons we share. We are all here for a greater purpose (the preservation of these films in their original form), but there is more to just preserving the films which draws us into the Star Wars universe.

At the end of her genre lecture each semester, my film teacher asks us all “Why is the force still with us?” Over the years she has compiled a collection of reasons why Star Wars ties so strongly into so many aspects of our lives. For us, it is more than just a movie. It is something deeper. For me, I cannot explain it. It is almost as if I have always had a connection to “the force” even when I had yet to see the Original Trilogy.

I am lucky - I caught the tail end of the saga, being born the same summer that Return of the Jedi came out. I have (however small) a physical connection to the trilogy, and to me that has always been the little gold leaf on my heart.
It’s not that I spent my childhood watching these films and playing with make-shift lightsabers out of cardboard tubes. No…it was the fact that Star Wars gave me a childhood. It gave me something to hold on to, to wrap myself up in. It gave me the strength to look up at the night sky and honestly believe again.

Star Wars has taught us how to be brave, and how defend our honor. It taught us right from wrong and brought us to worlds we never thought could have existed. It showed us that there is a little bit of good in everyone and no mater how high the cards are stacked against you, that how ever complicated things become, good will always win.

So please, share with all of us (because why else are we here?) - what has Star Wars meant to you?

Welcome to the old days, spanky!

I started playing FPSs around 1994 with Wolfenstein 3D....I always had a mouse and was able to play that way, so I guess I was fortunate. I tried to play with a keyboard and just couldn't do it.

Now here's an interesting question....anyone here play SW games online with other players.....like Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy or any others? Is it me or is there an incredible amount of assholes who play SW games online?

Now, on a personal rant/cry of sorrow I still wish that I could play my Rebel Assault II game. PC gaming has come so far since it game out 10 years ago that it is impossible for me to play it now. It's DOS based and my laptop is just too damn good.
Man...*sigh* it was mostly live action/interactive movie, and it had limited game play (it was mostly a shoot-em' up game). I'm not a gamer (I own 3 games to my name - RA: II, the Sims, and my X-Files game) so playing this game was heaven. All I had to do was interact and the story unfolded before me.
God...these pictures really take me back. I wanna play my old game so bad it hurts. They don't make interactive games like this anymore.

I wish LucasArts would release it again as some sort of "classic game play" like Nintendo did a few years ago with all the old NES games from the 80's.

Jenny....I feel your pain!!!! I love playing Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Mysteries Of The Sith, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, etc. Problem is they just don't play well or at all on high end systems.

I have 2000, but am going up to XP soon, so we will see about getting them to run. My recommendation is to try DOSBox. It's a bit of a pain to get going, but it does play many old DOS games quite well.

I too would like to see these games made fully playable on current PC systems. Also would like the original Wolfenstein and the DOOMs. They have done it with the DOOMs, but there's no mouse support for them. Idiots.....how can you play a FPS without a mouse?!?!!?

For anyone else who has waited this long to play this, please don't. I know I'm passing this warning on a little late, but hopefully I can save at least one person from making a game buying mistake.

I'm going to go cry now. (Man... and the first KOTOR was so freakin' good...)

Your reaction is not unwarranted. This game has become quite the controversy in SW gaming circles. It turns out that game is NOT completely finished. It was rushed by LucasArts for a Xmas release last year. Bioware had to release the game with all kinds of bugs and other gameplay problems. But, more importantly, the game was never fully completed. Certain quests weren't finished being developed. I hear there are doors that don't go anyplace....that's the stuff that didn't get finished. To make matters worse, if you use explorer on the CD itself, you can find the unfinished content on the disk, but since the game wasn't finished being written, this stuff isn't in the game, yet they included it on the CD.

I have KOTOR and haven't played it yet. I have heard it rocks the house, but this sequel is inexcusable. It is further proof that money is all that matters to the Lucas companies. When I first heard this, I immediately backed off any SW related games. After what happened to Galaxies last month, I WILL NOT buy any more SW games, period. There is no consideration for the consumer and they are just looking to make a quick buck with the SW name. Quality control is a joke with SW now.

The only think I might relent on is the games.....but I will buy them second hand and that's a BIG "if" right now.

If your going for a ban. You might as, well take advantage of the 7 day Hyperspace free trial(if you bought the ROTS DVD). Save a whole bunch of the video's to a CD, DVD or, harddrive. Then, on the seventh day make your post. The post might have to contain something about the Unaltered trilogy on DVD. Basically, the stuff Invader Jenny said might do it. Also, if you post something against the TOS should help.

What should I post about though....it has to be something incendiary, yet intelligent. I don't want to just post something that says, "fuck you" or anything. I want something with some flair and pinache. Something that will have steam coming out of the ears of the mods over there.....
