Just a quick question for ya, Gomer......in general, you think that it's okay to change films after they've been released like Lucas has done?

If so, do you think the original version still has any merit even though it's not what the director prefers anymore?

Just interested.....

Live with it a little better, okay?

And don't go starting with that mean spirited crap....you came here with your Lucas worship where you know it's going against the general temperament. Don't whine when you get people coming down on you.....you know damn well that what you are saying is going to get the reaction you're getting....so just shut up and take it or go elsewhere where you can wank off Lucas all you want. I suggest TFN.

I feel like I'm watching a book burning in Salem while I'm tied to a dunking torture device.

Total drama queen bullshit.....that only alludes to your actual age, troll.

I trashed the disks to show which versions I prefer. I've said time and time again that I don't care what changes Lucas makes to the OT...

I won't encourage anyone to see those pieces of shit either, but I'm not on a crusade to destroy and suppress them.

I believe in freedom of speech and art, Gomer. Lucas has the right to do what he does and I have the right to comment on it any way I want.

I believe that you have the right to say everything you've said and I will continue to take your comments apart every chance I get....cuz it's my right to do so.

Live with it and stop being a whiny sissy.

I just don't get Star Wars fans who revel in hatred. On the one hand many of you claim to know what makes Star Wars so great better than Lucas, yet a lot of you fail at the basic task of anger management.

Where are you getting anger from? If anything, we've been having some fun at your expense...I'm not getting anger or hatred out of any of this.

Here you guys nothing yoda says?

I repeat again...you are NOT 35 years old. No one over the age of 16 would use this line.....go away, troll....

My point is, Hollywood has always made shit but you only remember the bad ones in your lifetime. Ever since the first frame of film ran through a camera there's been White Chicks or Poseidon Adventure.

No doubt there, man....but there was always some really awesome movies coming out that made the bad ones bearable. Not sure we have the good films these days to offset the bad ones.

Certainly The Departed, Flags Of Our Fathers are examples of great films....but they are by no means really great. There's always really awesome films and then great films released during the year along with all the crap. We don't get really awesome films anymore and we barely get great films.....I'd say we get just under great films along with all the crap.

That make any sense?

Stupid rushed schedule!), but a fresh look at the o.g. version was surprisingly great. Basically, the original trilogy is cheese-free gold.

There is some cheese in ROTJ....but that's why I told Gomer to leave that one out. We all know its got its serving of cheese, but the fact that it follows such awesomeness with SW and ESB, excuses its cheese factor.

But SW and ESB are totally cheese free, IMHO. Those two films are as perfect as you can get. The whiny Luke crap is nonsense....as is the whole apparent '70s look. Star Trek looks like it was made in the '60s....doesn't stop anyone from enjoying it. Face it, prequel lovers....our trilogy kicks your trilogy's ass...

I figure for those who would destroy, why not give if not to me, others who may enjoy the films? Just a thought, and again if someone wants to give me their Special Editions perhaps I can work something out as I have a friend who would like to complete his Star Wars collection....would save me 30 bucks a pop on DVDs or 60 on a set.

Sorry...I wouldn't have sent the SEs to you even if you paid me a shitload of money. Those films are garbage and deserve what I did to them. I will not be party to someone else enjoying them. You can if you want to....but leave me out of it.

I certainly like my Star Wars with extra cheese.

Once again...please give examples.

There must be something wrong with me cuz I don't see the cheese factor in SW or ESB.....and I roll my eyes plenty at the TV when cheez whiz starts gushing....so I know cheese when I see it.

Personally...I'd like to see a Rancor consume Gomer with extra cheese. I'd pay for a special edition of that on DVD....

gave the fans what they wanted.

I don't think it was ever about what the fans wanted back then. Lucas and Spielberg were out to impress themselves and make movies that would knock them out as filmgoers. I contend that the fans haven't changed, Lucas has. I didn't have outlandish expectations when I sat in the midnight show of TPM back in '99. I remember thinking that this is going to be different, yet familiar. Other than that, I really had no expectations and I still don't like TPM. Lucas changed...we didn't. We just wanted a STAR WARS movie....and whatever comes with a STAR WARS movie. Those prequels were not STAR WARS movies.

Lucas is older, jaded, unchallenged, obtuse and most of all...comfortable. The rest of us are still the wide-eyed, imaginative and impressionable kids and young people we were back in the glory days, who seek the same thrill, that's all. An ambitious and imaginative storyteller could have satiated our desire for a STAR WARS movie. Lucas is not such a storyteller anymore.

If I may be so bold as to make a comparison here....the OT is like Jaws and the PT is like Jaws: The Revenge. Anyone else agree with this?

And that's why I cut you some slack and think you're a pretty cool guy. Your quote should go on the back of a fan DVD cover...well said.

Thank you, sir!!!

[ANH: "Not this ship sister." A clear use of contemporary 70's slang in a movie that was crafted to be timeless. This is no better than Jar-Jar saying "Exqueeze me".

Oh please....Mickey Mouse bullshit. Writing off the movie as a product of its time is so retarded, it's not worth commenting on....

ANH: "But I was going into Toshi Station to pick up some Power converters!" A tad on the hammy side. This delivery is no better than Anakins: "It's all Obi-Wan's fault, he's holding me back!"

Intentional whiny vs. hokey angst.....no contest.

Empire: Emperor: "Look at me, I'm a monkey woman!" This is a clear breach of continuity by the time ROTJ rolls around. The only thing that even comes close in the prequels is Yoda in TPM, which still looks more like Yoda than the Monkey Woman looked like the Emperor.

I told you to leave out ROTJ...still looks the same to me....the Emperor in ROTJ had weird eyes just like he did in ESB....

Your prequels stuff is all crap. These were all fine actors with tons of experience and credits to their name, yet they sucked ass in the prequels. The OT actors were all practically unknowns. Your case has nothing but holes, Gomer....pull your head outta your ass.

I bought the LOTR set the other day on DVD, and it included the Theatrical Versions and the Extended Versions in one boxset, both transfers with Anamorphic Widescreen and 5.1 DD. Geez, that wasn't that hard to please all of the LOTR fans?

Yeah...no kidding. Trekkies get all their shows and movies done up good. Hell, they're getting the Special Edition Original Series and they still get the original versions...

...and Paramount is SOOO guilty of milking the Trek fans, it's not funny. At least they're fans getting what they want....
