Would there possibly be an option to hear a 5.1 mix as well?
I'm sure once it's released, it won't take long for someone to sync it up with the GOUT.

...it seems like a lot of members on there don't appreciate people grabbing media and never returning.
It's not that, just a lot of private trackers don't like it when you download a bunch, and don't give anything back. I know it can be difficult when you're trying to seed something, but there's five seeds and zero peers...sometimes it's almost like you have to download something popular that you're not interested in, just to get your ratio back up =|
Didn't know this movie got redubbed, too =|
I never got to see it, I always ended up missing it when it was on TV.

But they're now in the hands of Disney and they don't have a track-record for not caring one bit about preserving the theatrical versions. If they aren't going to release BATB or the Lion King unaltered - two of their classic animated features - then there's not much hope that they'll care to give the Star Wars Trilogy the restoration and release it deserves.
Hey man, don't be so hard on Disney. Look at how generous and completely unselfish they were with The Thief and the Cobbler.

I'm so incredibly excited that this has been completed and that it exists in the world. We can all breathe a sigh of relief today no matter what happens from here on out.
Hey man, don't count your chickens before they hatch! We don't know how robust Mike's backup system is. I think he'd better send a copy to me, just to make sure it's really safe.

That would be an interesting crossover! Love both franchises! hahaha
Tatooine was Earth the whole time!!! :o

Some of the bluray colors are really odd, in the early part of the Tantive IV scenes there is a green tone, then later there is a blue tone. The colors are really all over the place.
I noticed that in the reel 1 preview, when I tried making adjustments in Ffdshow. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way, or if it was a result of the frames closest to the outside of the reel fading at a faster rate.
It definitely did seem like one scene, the set would look more green, then more blue in the next, and then back to green. I know I read about that somewhere before, but I didn't think it would be so overly noticeable. I'm sure someone with a master's touch could make it much more subtle.
I forgot about the Super 8 print. I was waiting for the re-scan to come out, but I suppose in the mean-time I should probably download the first scan before all the seeds die.

There's definately something about ESB because all the prints i've seen on ebay have also gone reddish/pink...
Even the official releases on VHS and LD, I think, have a bit too much pink in them.
GOUT's probably pinky too.

Actually, the widescreen versions have always looked a bit tight to me, I am still not sure whether the official widescreen transfers are all zoomed in too much, or if that's how tight the framing actually was in theaters.
Aren't Bluth's films usually in 1.66:1?
I remember the Secret of NIMH SE was supposed to have all three aspect ratios, but ended up dropping the 1.66:1 theatrical ratio before release, and only had 4:3 and 16:9.

The correction done on the posted images is only rough, to check that the colour is still lurking in there.
Is this the same process you used with THX?

Great, now I want a sheep cream sandwich.
Yum!
Where can I download this?

...you can't get anything good for free (private registration required or otherwise) with Usenet.
You can if you look hard enough, but there's a data limit. I remember using it to get...the X9 project maybe?

IMO, an improperly colored 4K version with grain is better than a more correctly-colored 2K version with DNR.
Would be nice if they could just "get it right", though =) Do the studios think that blue/teal push somehow widens their target audience?
Not to say that I agree that these Spartacus shots look too blue, they just look like they're timed to what's on the film, and not to what would have been on the actual screen. Setting the TV to "warm" would give it a good boost.

...the people at Disney are interested in doing it, and that it's really FOX holding them back... Seems like something they don't want to spend money on, but you never know.
Very true. I certainly never expected the Batman '66 deal to happen in my lifetime.

You probably can't just convert it to B&W and have that be the end since you can play around with contrast and brightness creating a wide range of different images.
Correct, which is why I'm not qualified for a project like this =)
I was wondering, though, if the pre-release media might be useful at all, since they all have a much more monochrome treatment.
But at any rate, hopefully Amazon is just misinformed, and it will be officially released...or maybe they're saving it for a double-dip later on =|

But like you, I've no idea why Jurassic Park is getting overcropped...
Wouldn't the 3D version have to be cropped a little bit, to compensate for the 3D effect? One eye is going to see a little more to the left, the other a little more to the right (depending on the amount of stereo separation)...and especially if you watch it in 2D, they'll only show one of the "eyes".

Great movie almost ruined by the odd choice to mess with the framerate for artistic reasons.
I never even noticed. There's all kind of speedups in the first two (or three?) movies, though.
The only thing that really bugged me (aside from the super-saturated orange'n'teal) was that all of the CGI/green-screen in the opening sequence looked like it was done by the same team that did the Star Wars movies >_< The rest of the movie looked pretty good, although I've read that he actually did stick with mostly practical effects, so maybe that had something to do with it...

Ghost Dad ... look better in full screen, because you get the entire image of the camera negative.
I don't think it really matters which aspect ratio you watch Ghost Dad in, either way you're going to have a bad time.

The Matrix movies in Full Screen would look phenomenal on an IMAX screen. it would fill the whole entire screen with no black bars!!!!!!
There was a thread about the unmatted Matrix on here, and you get to see a -lot- of things you aren't supposed to.
According to Amazon.com, which is wrong more often than not, none of the releases of Mad Max 4 will feature the black & white or silent versions of the film that George Miller promised would be included.
Hopefully this is an oversight, otherwise it looks like there’ll be a project or two for a restless fan =| (not to imply that that restless fan is me, I’m just trying to start a discussion)
I think I may have seen somewhere that someone is already working on a silent version?
To someone who has never seen the feature-length film before, those shots almost look like there is nothing wrong with them.
