Did you know Revenge of the Sith had a 4-hour long cut?
Skywalker Sound’s Matthew Wood discusses the original version of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and its 4-hour long cut.
and…
The Turn: A History of the Evolution of Anakin’s Downfall (focusing more on the late changes to ROTS when still filming)

…would seem to be good places to start. I’m sure there are other quality and informative articles out there on the topic.
Good luck with it. 👍
PS: it may be worth checking through Project Index: Star Wars Fan Edits & Other Projects to see if anyone here has attempted such a reconstruction / edit project of the ‘4 hour cut’ for Revenge Of The Sith (or similar ‘extended’ versions).
IIRC, a few editors on here have tackled this. ✔️
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Are we talking like an assembly cut of all the footage? that is never to be released or seen. Like the lost cut of Star Wars.
Thank God it wasn’t 4 hours. Hilarious that fans think this extra footage could possibly be more character development when it’s likely just more gratuitous action scenes and garbage exemplifying Lucas’ self indulgence
the focus is on Anakin, his relationship to Palpatine, his duty to the Chancellor and the Jedi. and his fear of losing his wife. there is plenty there in the running time. its inelegantly done, but it’s there.
Man makes deal with the devil, ends up in literal hell and torment. it’s not very subtle. loses his humanity becomes more machine than man. he is pitiable, Frankenstein’s monster. what’s he ask. is padme safe, is she alright/ then goes noooo!
The Empire should have used this to torture Han in TESB instead of the electricity.
No way that the first cut of ROTS was 4 hours.
The 2nd assembly cut was 2:11:23 without credits. Pretty unlikely that they cut an hour and 50 minutes in one fell swoop.

From The Making of ROTS, pg180
I don’t want to call Matt Wood a liar, but I have to assume that quote is devoid of context, massively exaggerated, and unfortuntely has been parroted by the fanbase at large.
“Yeah. I was actually the first person who saw a cut of Episode III…It was close to 4 hours at least. I was just sitting there and thought ‘wow, I’m the first one!’. Even George hadn’t see the full movie then”
The fourth draft shooting script is only 129 pages. Maybe some compilation of kitchen sink animatics where the animatic and pre-vis guys went wild, added up to 4 hours, there’s no way an assembly of shot footage could add up to that much.
Matt Wood also told Jake Lloyd that the first assembly of Episode I was 6 hours, so I assume Wood must be referring to something else in the post-process because it’s just not possible.
