Because this
Cut the guy some slack and let him come to his own decisions, please.
only makes sense if you’re implying people are trying to “force him” to do otherwise. Which nobody was doing! Maybe that’s an improper use of quotation marks to denote an implication, but then we’re criticizing my grammar at the expense of getting my point, which I think is pretty gettable, LOL.
Also, along those same lines:
Adywan knows what he’s doing and knows his limits. This is a passion project of his, and he’ll be done when he’s done. He’s already inspired loads of fan editors, but we’re all still eager to see the completion of his vision. We’ll get it when we get it. We don’t need to question him or beg for updates.
What’s happening here isn’t “begging for updates” in the slightest - it was a legit question as to whether he should even keep pursuing this, and an implication in its own right that it’s okay if he doesn’t. the question is more rhetorical than anything, so far as I read it. As in “you know, it’s been over 20 years of working on three fanedits of Star Wars movies, and those two decades has led to a LOT of negative impact on this guy’s life. It’s more than okay to stop pursuing this in light of that.”
If he wants to keep pursuing that, nobody’s saying he SHOULDN’T. And if he does keep pursuing it, I’m not seeing a lot of people (any, really) actually getting antsy or complaining that they don’t have this fanedit yet, either, or that it’s taking too long. If anything, just scrolling back through the thread even over the last 15 or so pages shows people being almost obsequious about making inquiries at all, and not even getting within five miles of seeming impatient/out-of-sorts over how long this project is taking. People basically don’t beg for updates or get presumptious about when and where this is coming, usually.
This isn’t like - an argument, or a fight. it just sounds like people are honestly concerned for this guy’s health, and are willing to put the completion of a fan-made Special Edition of a Star Wars movie aside, if not all the way down, if it means the guy gets a higher quality of life in the meantime.
Fanedits of Star Wars movies aren’t THAT important, ultimately. They really aren’t.
