Star Wars Official Restoration Leaks and future of Despecialized

www.youtube.com/watch?v=J29_AcURtyc - an 8 minute youtube video from Petr Harmy (Harmyfilm).

I watched it and the shots are very detailled and promising.
Sure what is unclear if it’s the original negative or Special Edition negative.
As there are many Special Editions out now and from the unaltered version just low res products, a high quality scan would be nice.
On the other side, i really like George Lucas, but i’m pretty sure he don’t allow this to be happen.
Then the original version would be the better quality one than the 2020 UHD discs.
Or he would allow this with a new Special Edition, which have fixed the missing things in the last one.
So booth versions in superb quality.

But for me i have a personality problem with it, when it’s an official thing.
I have to wait, when i can buy it used.
Anyway it would me hurt, that i know this or find a Disney logo or text.

This video has been posted elsewhere on the site - yet deserves a post in here too - especially as it serves as a superbly comprehensive ‘explainer’ video (43 minutes long)… chronicling the history of the theatrical releases - audio/visual differences in them etc - and what many of us fans would ideally love to see in such a high quality thorough OOT Restoration / have been hoping for over the years…

The blurb…

'I discuss the possibilities and what needs to happen with the seemingly in progress Original Trilogy restoration. There has been only a single official announcement which was vague. The potential leaks of in progress working elements are still being analyzed across the Internet. This is a basic discussion video highlighting the important and basic aspects that have to be a part of any OT restoration. If only to highlight the extreme importance of preserving ALL of the original audio mixes.

Star Wars - Caravan of Garbage

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKFDlVz6SsA - a 32 minute video from the Mr Sunday Movies youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘To kick off Caravan Of Garbage in 2026 we’ve decided to celebrate the release of Star Wars’ 49th anniversary. We’re talking the original movie as it was first shown in May of 1977 with none of the Special Edition tweaks or even the addition of the title A New Hope which was added four years later. We’re looking at the miracle of the movie that started it all, George Lucas’ vision brought to life with the music of John Williams, special effects by ILM and the relatively unknown trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Thanks for watching our Review’.

The Empire Strikes Back - Caravan of Garbage

www.youtube.com/watch?v=J65C59ZMw14 - a 31 minute video from the Mr Sunday Movies youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘It’s time to talk what many still consider the pinacle of Star Wars media, The Empire Strikes Back. Released three years after the first movie in 1980 it also came at a time when sequels were almost always inferior to the original. With the original trio of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia returning and George Lucas not directing but putting it all on the line to make this happen Empire was a massive success with it’s darker nature and twist ending. And that green puppet man. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review’.

Return of the Jedi - Caravan of Garbage

www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXMADD3g9es - a 32 minute video from the Mr Sunday Movies youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘The anticipation for what was to be the final Star Wars film, Revenge/Return of the Jedi was at an absolute boiling point in 1983. What was to become of Han Solo? Would Luke Skywalker defeat Darth Vader and turn from the dark side? Will Princess Leia kill a giant peverted slug in a gold bikini? These questions and more were wrapped up at the end of the original trilogy which brings the Emperor of the Galaxy to the forefront of story now with a second and even bigger Death Star. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review on George Lucas’ original trilogy and what some people consider to be the last true Star Wars experience’.

The Carbon Freezing Chamber: Anatomy of a Perfect Star Wars Scene

www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_2d0VYBYpM - a 10 minute video from the Original Trilogy Talk youtube channel.

The blurb: ‘A deep dive into the carbon freezing chamber scene in The Empire Strikes Back. From behind the scenes to finished product, what makes the scene where Han is frozen so great?’

Another insightful and quality OT video from the much under-rated Original Trilogy Talk youtube channel.
