Help to edit episode V from Ahsoka series (Shadow Warrior)

I’m new here — how’s everyone doing?

I have absolutely no experience with film or TV editing. That said, I’ve seen a lot of beginners using AI tools to create impressive edits of Star Wars and other franchises, so I’m curious about what’s possible.

I’ll keep this brief: how could I re-edit Episode 5 of Ahsoka series so that there’s no off-screen moment of Ahsoka taking Anakin’s lightsaber and holding it to his neck (please, I’m not looking to debate the scene itself)? I’d like to preserve the core message of the lesson — “live or die” — but without having Anakin “lose” the duel — even if it’s a “fake lose”.

What would be the best way to approach editing a scene like that? Oh, and if someone have already done it, I would like to watch. Please, help me.

Hi Aaron,

People may be confused as to your ‘I’m new here’ - despite having being registered here for 7 years. 😉 j/k

AI tools… I don’t know what to say on this (and the following could very well be be wrong)… I think many editors on here may have chosen to stay away from AI - or reluctantly use if they have absolutely have to… for a vocal line of dialogue… or certain shot they can’t accomplish by other means, etc.

Editing out a short shot from a scene like you describe doesn’t really require AI tools - it is a simple enough task (for fan editors) to achieve with regular / traditional editing software. It may be worth scrolling through the Ahsoka edit threads on here to see if anyone else has undertaken that shot (or similar) - and ask them how best to achieve it?

Good luck with it, mate. Let us know how you get on - and post up a video clip of what you come up with for this shot. 👍

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Hey people, thanks for the replies. I’m really happy! I’m suffering of a headache right now and I’m going to be off of my phone for some hours. As soon as I get it, I’ll read all the replies and reply to them!

Thank you all!

There are some free editing tools I can recommend that are easy enough to use with just a simple how to on YouTube.

Avidemux is good for a cut, copy and paste.
Kdenlive is good for doing some scene transitioning and more in depth stuff.
They are tools I use very regularly, look forward to see how you get on with this.
