The rich blue sky looks better, though I understand the reasoning behind having a slightly greenish sky’s on a planet of yellow and orange sand but it’s not a science fiction film so aesthetics are a higher priority. Loved how you have reflipped and reframed Threepio. I noticed this from the original ANH:R but just adding the blue eye light to Artoo makes him more Artoo. Everything looks sharper. The Battle droid cameo is as subtle as it originally was. Hopefully you will manage to sneak at least one Rogue One style Imperial battledroid onto the Death Star.

I’ve never seen a version with a greenish sky. The official blu-ray looks grey and Ady’s looks blue.

A fix that i wanted to do for ANH:R when i started, but no matter how much i tried it never worked. It’s the shots of 3P0 when he spots the sandcrawler in the distance. It was an obvious flipped shot due to the oil stain being on the opposite side of his torso suddenly. Rotoscoping 3P0 to fix the problems with the shot being flipped was a nightmare. I could never get it to look anywhere near passable . It was just impossible when doing the SD version and i thought i may stand a better chance when a HD versions became available. But i kept failing, right up until a couple of years ago when i decided to shelve the idea .

But sometimes, long after i’ve given up, i decide to give something one last try. I’m so glad i did because i worked out how to do it to a level that i feel works so i can finally cross that continuity error off my list.

In this comparison video you’ll notice that the official version goes out of sync with the Revisited one. This is because i had to shorted one shot and extend another for this to work once the rotoscoping with finished.

I have tried posting this numerous times now and everywhere i’ve uploaded it, it has instantly been blocked. My only option was to upload it to google drive. I don’t know how long this will last due to the bandwidth restrictions , but it was my only option. You can view the preview or download the clip to see it in better quality ( which is what i would recommend )

See if you can spot all the fixes…

(although i have used the 2020 Blu-Ray for this comparison, there are shots i used from the 2011 Blu-Ray, or a mixture of both)

I loved it; starfields again! Blue skies & whiter clouds, R2’s circular eye turning blue-to red and back (and his rear circular eye being a brighter green), Threepio now facing the altered trajectory of the ‘Crawler, the overall colouring making the droids featured pop (and Threepio’s sliver leg appears more pronounced, too). The two planets in the background at night, Jawas’ brighter eyes, the Crawler’s ramp and surrounding lighting - for the distance shot, and the blue inner door of the escape pod for the ‘Look, sir. Droids!’. (plus whatever else I missed).

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Love it!

However, the original film doesn’t reveal that Tatooine has two suns until the binary sunset scene. This version obviously does, and although I’m sure this was well considered, just wanted to mention it.

Artoo’s red/blue light looks great, and the “looksirdroids” scene is perfect.

I never had the nerve to make the final cut.
