The Original Trilogy - a general Random Thoughts thread — Page 3

Personally, I’m so pleased that we now finally have a truly worthy Prequel Trilogy (2 seasons of Andor + Rogue One) for the Original Trilogy.

The other Prequel releases - the one true Prequel Trilogy: the 1978 Holiday Special and the 2 theatrical Ewok films… along with the other more dissonant PT films from '99-'05… never really cut it for me (though am glad others seem to enjoy them).

It has certainly been a long wait - yet a worthwhile one.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Of course, each season is 3-4 movies of material

Was the intention in 1977-1983 that the Jedi were secretive even before the rise of the Empire and the Jedi Purge? That would explain why Han and Motti don’t believe in The Force, Obi-Wan mentioning that Vader was his pupil and Vader mentioning that Obi-Wan was his master doesn’t lead anyone to realize that Vader is Anakin, and why Luke doesn’t recognize Yoda.

I also find it interesting that Luke seems to hide his meeting with Yoda from the Rebellion in ROTJ.

Is this ever explained in universe?

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

My movie reviews aren’t AI, they’re just written by someone who’s Neurodivergent. If you don’t like them, then simply don’t read them.

That horrifying AI Wizard of Oz Dome thing is making a lot of money, now its operator is looking at giving other movies the same treatment.

In the latest quarter, the Sphere reported an operating loss of $83.4 million. Excluding some expenses, it had a profit of $24.9 million.

Dolan is in the market for more film titles, many of them more contemporary. From the Edge, a documentary featuring five athletes doing extreme stunts, will debut next year. Dolan has also spoken to Warner Bros. about additional titles, including Harry Potter, and he’s spoken to Walt Disney Co. about a few titles, including Star Wars.

Well It certainly would be the first Special Edition without Lucas involvement. If it happened. Does anyone want an AI messed with version of Maclunky. Considering Disney cancelled the 3d conversion of Episodes IV, V and VI. A Sphere conversion of SW would be super weird unless Disney sees profit in it.

From what I’ve seen on YouTube of the wizard of oz sphere show , the only part of it that looked decent was the tornado scene , the rest looked pretty janky with the ai set expansions , the green wizards head looked awful and the flying monkey drones looked very gimmicky . The whole thing is too expensive to be worth it and it looks to me like they cut a lot of corners to fill seats and maximize profits . They should have gotten ILM involved and utilized real vfx artists to do it , y’know , actual digital set painters for the expansion and animitronics wizards to really bring those flying monkeys to life etc. If they were to do Star Wars at the Sphere ,I’d only be for it if they did the same things with the involvement of ILM .

Tickets are apparently around $150 each so if people are already paying that and ignoring the bad effects SW seems like a way to make easy money.

I wonder what the 3 films would be like now if they were made only in 1997
