Thank you so much in advance ❤️

Hi Hal, after The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, you plan to reinstate, in a possible future update of your AOTC edit, the line about Boba being Jango unaltered clone? Not that it would make a huge difference in the edit overall, it’s just a question that came into my mind, since this information is somewhat relevant to understand Boba’s character in these series (Fennec mentioning his voice being the same of the clones, the fact of Boba having the same face of Jango, etc).

Not really. The line was removed in the first place not to change Boba’s character or lore, but because the scene just stops to take a detour to give exposition about a character the audience is familiar with but has no bearing on what’s happening.

I think the audience would have no trouble at all inferring he’s a clone or accepting when this is more or less stated in new content.

Also, without the line specially stating he is completely unaltered and genetically identical, it makes for an easier time head-canon-ing that even in Boba’s case he still ages somewhat faster than his host.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Some people may start asking if you’re gonna add the extended recreation of Boba mourning Jango Fett’s loss from The Book of Boba Fett.

Is that extended? I thought it was an unaltered clip from the movie.

I don’t think it’s extended or unaltered but rather an different take.

I don’t think it’d help anything. As it is, the movie pauses to take a moment to show Boba grieving, and extending it with a closeup of the helmet isn’t necessary. All it’d do is make the audience say “ah so that’s just reusing things” when they get to the BOBF.

I was wondering where I could find the link to watch the most recent edit of this fan edit. would you be able to send me a PM?

I just finished watching The Approaching Storm. So…

I liked the fact that you added the deleted scenes of Mace Windu and Obi-Wan on the platform, Padmé with her parents and the opening scene of Padmé in the Senate;
I liked the fact that you removed the scene where Anakin confesses to Padmé that he killed the sand people;
I appreciate that you removed “You’re exactly the way I remember you in my dreams”. I think the dialogue in the movie isn’t as bad as everyone says, but I’ve always hated that line;
I liked the way you rearranged some scenes, for example putting the scene where Anakin and Padmé are talking on the grass before their kiss, and not after, or putting the scene where Anakin levitates the apple with the Force before their kiss, and not after;
I liked that you removed the sand line. That line never really bothered me, but I think that if it didn’t exist, the scene would be smoother.

However, I think the other cuts were unnecessary, for example the cut of the scene where it’s implied that Boba is a Clone. I don’t think it was necessary to cut that scene, just as I don’t think it was necessary to cut the scene in which Mace Windu says that the Jedi have a clouded mind because of the Dark Side, or even the scene in which Yoda feels Anakin’s pain.
Also, I think that the fact that Padmé regrets kissing Anakin and immediately interrupts their kiss makes sense, because after all she wanted to put her duties as a Senator before her personal feelings. It is only at “the end” of the movie that she completely lets go and recognizes in front of Anakin her feelings. For this same reason, I think that cutting out the scene where Anakin and Padmé were talking in front of the fireplace was a mistake. I understand that scene can be heavy because of the monologue and the Shakespearean dialogue, but that scene is essential, for the same reasons I talked about right now.
Besides, I think it was unnecessary to cut the scene with the Jedi younglings. First of all because I find it super cute, and secondly because if that scene isn’t there, then how do you explain Obi-Wan finding Kamino? I mean, we see literally just a few seconds before Jocasta Nu tolding him the System didn’t exist, but it’s only because of the Jedi younglings scene that we know how he found it.
In summary, I think all the other changes you’ve made, other than the ones I’ve listed and said I like, are unnecessary. I appreciate your editing work and respect your vision, but I think this fan edit is not what I’m looking for. In my opinion the perfect fan edit of Attack of the Clones is a fan edit that only changes the things I’ve listed before, leaving the rest of the movie exactly as it is.

Thank you for taking the time to give me some feedback, even if the project is finished.

One thought about Obi-Wan finding Kamino: he already knew where it was from Dex, which he pointed out to the librarian. So I figure he had the idea on his own that he used to get from Yoda: just go there yourself.

You make a good case for keeping the interrupted kiss, I’ll give you that.

It’s too bad the extended talk about Dooku between Obi-Wan and Jocasta Nu didn’t have finished VFX, as you said in your commentary, Hal.

I wish someone would finish it. In the theatrical, we go from namedropping Dooku in the opening crawl, to radio silence, and then he shows up at the end with no real context to his character. That 30 seconds in the middle of the film are so important, and it got cut in favour of what - droid factory antics or something.

Does any scholar out there remember which old school fan edit it was that had R2 leave the ship on Geonosis and save Padme without flying, and 3PO staying behind? I’d like to examine it but am mostly away-from-computer for a while.

After you said this I searched in youtube for it, and I found someone who restored the scene. He skipped the part where Jocasta mentions that Dooku was a jedi, but maybe with a couple of edit, the line could be properly reintroduced in the shots he restored:

EDIT: He restored only a few parts, but as I said, through editing the most important bits of information that Jocasta and Obi-Wan said could be dropped in the edit, during the zoom in Dooku’s sculpted face. This video also restored the scene partially:

Yeah, no problem. I understand.

I noticed in v7 during the droids in elevator scene the center channel is muted. I think when you muted the droids dialogue you meant to add back the sfx of the droids moving/readying blasters like you did in the L/R channels.

Are you talking about LOE, when they are heading up to rescue Palpatine?

It sounds all right to me, with headphones. Do you mean the center channel literally blanks out at that point?

EDIT: Yep, that seems to be what happened. I don’t have a surround setup. Was this very apparent? I don’t want to reissue just for this, but I can make a note about it in the event I ever do.
