Dodanna in Rogue One.

I’d be curious to see that one.

Try doing a bearded Kylo Ren in TRoS, to visualize that he’s no longer a “child” but rather a man.

I have tried to deepfake fake Wedge in the ANH briefing scene before at Tobar’s suggestion, but never got a very good result from it. I’ll give it another shot when I one day get a new GPU (assuming the prices ever drop to reasonable levels again…) and can experiment with some of the newer model architectures in DeepFaceLab.

Why has nobody thought to just redub “Fake Wedge” instead of some complicated process? It’d be easier, look better, and you wouldn’t need any machine-learning tech to make it work. Consumer-grade microphones are probably at the right level now.

I only really support deepfakes for de-aging or for replacing obvious stunt/photo doubles. I don’t like the idea of “erasing” actors and their performances.

that “fixing disney star wars” guys are trying to do that as far as i know

the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural

Beards are definitely more of a leap than de-aging as funny as that seems, this stuff still isn’t quite magic yet. At the same time I wouldn’t find it all that worth it for any of the characters to sport a beard for the sake of it, maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see what it adds other than a tracking continuity nightmare.

(Would be kind of funny if some characters went between bearded and clean faced to establish regular shaving habits within the canon…)

In my suggestion I explained my reasoning for Kylo Ren needing a beard in TRoS — it would be a way of visualizing that he is no longer the “child” he was in TFA and TLJ but rather a man. He no longer acts immaturely. He no longer throws such hissy fits.

Holy crap! That’s looking really good!

I love the idea of fixing the background extra for Mace Windu near the end of The Phantom Menace.

Also, nobody has brought this up, but how would anyone here feel about fixing the look of digitally adding older actors’ faces upon the stuntmen for the Prequels? This was done with both Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid. Although there doesn’t seem to be added digital closeups of Dooku, there is a couple for Palpatine that could be fixed.

Also, I think Jarkan managed to improve Shamook’s work on the Luke Skywalker deepfake with the lighting, facial animation and mouth movement.

An idea I mentioned in the Prequel Radical Redux thread is using Hammer films Peter Cushing was in as a reference for an AI Deepfake Tarkin in the Prequel Trilogy.

That reminds me - I know Shamook made his R1 Tarkin available to some people here; did he actually deepfake Tarkin throughout the entire movie, or just a couple of shots?

Bearded Kylo riding on a Tauntaun is the ST’s biggest missed opportunity.

Has anyone here thought of fixing the poor CGI Darth Maul when falling into the pit of the shots where Ian McDiarmid’s face was put on a stuntman during his fight with Mace Windu?

By the way, if anyone here is planning on using the movies for the data for a face replacement, I think using deleted scenes, behind the scenes material and interviews should also be used for data to give more to work with.

How much better have deepfakes gotten since shamooks awesome deepfakes?

I don’t know if this is off topic, but I think it would be great if in the future the technology evolved to such an extent that we could create an alternative TROS ending in which Anakin’s Force ghost defeats Palpatine instead of Rey. Many people have already attempted this, but obviously the result isn’t believable at all, so I look forward to technology to evolve, allowing us to create such an ending. I would love it.

So with the latest episode of Kenobi, is anyone working on deep-faking Anakin in the practice-fight scene with Obi-Wan?

It should be easy since age difference is t as drastic as Luke was and the facial proportions are exact.

I hope so. The scene felt a little weird with an obviously 40-year-old Hayden Christensen playing 18/19 year-old Anakin. I loved everything else about those sequences so a good deepfake would be amazing to see.

People also need to deepfake Obi-Wan in the flashback too, as Ewan McGregor looked significantly different in Attack of the Clones.
