How about a community effort to distribute this, I remember last time drive limits were impacting people’s ability to access this.

Well, nothing else to do for the moment but wait a long time for it to encode. Unless I find anything show-stopping, I expect I’ll be able to get the big ‘ol 1080p version up sometime tomorrow. Then the two 720p mp4 versions, and then I will do the DVD5 whenever I can (I’m sure this is the least valuable).
So anyone hoping to make a Christmas viewing out of this, I hope not to disappoint.

Anyone should be able to get a Google drive and host. I propose that anyone who downloads it then reuploads it to a Google drive and makes clear in this thread that they can be PM’d for a link.

It’s surreal to think that V2 is finally here; V1 came out, what, July 2020? (EDIT: November, per Hal.) What are the two different 720p versions, Hal?
Kinda bummed we didn’t hit Page 600 beforehand though, honestly…

There’s an 8GB or so 720p version and a 1-2GB very small 720p version.
And V1 was released November 2020.

Congratulations on the completion of your ST edits. It’s quite the accomplishment for the entire community, all things considered, far more ambitious than most cuts would ever dare to be (and featuring a far bigger team).
Out of curiosity, what’s the final rendering time for the 1080p version? Some of my own cuts have had insanely long renders (28 hours for the 4.5 hour ROTS cut, for example)?

I think the Google drive that I have used the past year or more will be up to the task, as I haven’t had any problems since using it. It was graciously provided by somebody called Hondo’s Trove.

(But in my experience, yes, it can hold up reasonably well against high demand. Though it depends on how many people actually get your links in a short time period.)

Google Drive already follows most of those practices and typically only responds to things that are flagged or receive a direct DMCA takedown from the rightful IP holder. Even if it does use a more crude content ID like system to scan a video, an edited film would likely not trigger that.
I would assume not much will change unless people are deliberately flagging these files (and even then, Hal isn’t the owner of the drive he’s using, so there are other ways to deal with the problem).
This is also why torrents exist for projects like these. They can take longer to set up and be more difficult for a community to maintain, but they exist that way for a reason.
Once this edit is in the hand of the right people, the internet never forgets. Don’t worry.

Like hedgesmfg said, that just seems to be Google’s long-standing policy in regards to Drive file sharing.
That said, it’s not unlikely that we’ll have to deal with some delays when trying to download V2 - Google will often put temporary blockers on popular files (i.e. files that are being accessed by several different IPs at once). So just be patient, folks (or wait for Hal to update the torrents). A little longer won’t kill us.

I always compress my edits into zip files before uploading to google drive. It seems to throw off any sort of content ID system that might be in place.

Sounds great Hal, looking forward to watching it (after Chistmas then ahah)
Since i’m mentioning “sound”, could you confirm you have uncompressed outputs without the added Knights of Ren voices as well as without the “galaxy celebration” added million voices ? I would probably try to tackle the alternate audio I did for v1 with Palpatine message in the overture for v2.

I didn’t export any that don’t have the civilian fleet, but there are versions both with and without the KoR voices. And if you remind me in a couple days, I can get you stems for that sequence from the theatrical.
