I’m not waiting on anything from jonh for the ghosts. The only shot that was affected by his upgraded work has been put in place.

And yes, the milky eyes and crackly saber are the two remaining pieces. And at absolute best it’ll be a matter of several weeks for the latter. Patience.

We’re just eager, Hal. I’m sure you’re excited as well. We’ll wait on NeverarGreat, poppasketti and RogueLeader.

All I gotta say is that I have my fingers crossed it will be out by at least December.

The original Star Wars fans waited 16 years just to end up getting The Phantom Menace.

I don’t mind if we’ve got to wait a few more months for a further-improved fan edit of TROS.

Hey, Hal. One addition that I noticed on the list that will be in V2 that I don’t think you’ve really touched upon is Leia vocalizing when she drops the headphones. Exactly what will she say in the brief moment? A gasp?

People seem to agree that only the first Sors line should be in the final edit; yeah?

Is there any way you can send me the scene including the extended bit where Sors’s second line would have been? I’d like to try implementing another Jedi such as Plo Koon in there.

Like Hal said, it’s a very subtle change that you probably wouldn’t notice were it not listed in the changelog:

Sure, I’ll render out the current Two Sors Lines Version without either of Sors’ lines in there, so people have got flexibility with adding whatever they like in their own edits. I’ll do it when I also do the Single Sors Line Version, so hopefully sometime next week.

Also, are Anakin and Leia’s sabers still going to short out as Rey drops them?

No, or at least not unless something changes on MR’s end. His computer is kaput and he expressed a desire to retain a few things for his own fan edit. And while that moment is cool and insanely well done, it doesn’t bear in any of the other changes and is okay not to get.

Well, shit, Hal! It’s been five months now and MR has been shit out of luck since then. I have no idea what’s going on with him now, but I hope his holidays go along as smoothly as they can in his current situation. 😧

Good to know, Hal!

Can’t wait for the same two people to ask these same type of questions again tomorrow so that you can answer them yet again. Maybe fifth time’s the charm for them!

Lol,‘touché. On a serious note, I hope the excitement of the fans eager for this edit aren’t influencing the editors to rush in any shape or form. Take all the time you need. It’s already a blessing that there are super talented people more than generous to give their time and talents for something we hold near and dear to our hearts

Hey, here’s something I found on reddit: https://vimeo.com/647991392

It’s the death star II throne room scene, but with a kind of different pace and tone and uses some behind-the-scenes footage (1 min 18 sec)

What major plot aspects are changed for Ascendant in regards to Rey and Palpatine?

Palpatine’s plan is streamlined to rely less on an unspoken sense that his spiritual heir needs to be (or is in some way better to be) a biological descendant. He appears now to desire Rey dead as the last Jedi, and makes an apparently credible threat to Kylo Ren that he will possess him if he disobeys. When Kylo is taken off the board, he directs Pryde to prepare to lure Rey whom he tries to manipulate upon arrival, using the less than effective playbook he used for Luke back in the day.

When Rey has a vision of herself on the Sith throne, she has something that can continue to unsettle her even after the redemption of Ben Solo, whether she’s aware of it or not. And Kylo’s pitch is now for the two to join forces and destroy Palpatine rather than usurp him. Rather similar now to Dooku’s offer to Obi-Wan in Ep2. Kylo appears to desire Rey’s alignment with himself, similar to TLJ, more than to use her as a convenient political ally. She has more now to be tempted by in his offer, as this is not the specific thing that she had feared from her vision.

Leia and Luke were not aware of Rey’s Palpatine lineage. It does not make sense that Luke would have known during TLJ, and I don’t know how Leia would possibly have, although the EU is obligated to straighten that out by some means at some point. Luke knows what Rey knows by the time they meet in this film, and calls her hangup by asking, “So what?”

The dagger is no longer explicitly Rey’s parent’s murder weapon. This reduces the power or coincidence, albeit one that isn’t too much of a stretch. It can now be something Ochi happened to have, and it’s spiritual direction rather than technical allows one to suppose it could be ancient, directing the user to the Wayfinder wherever it might be. (Although perhaps one must be in the same ballpark, as 3PO still needs to get them to the right general spot.) One could imagine, if Ascendant V2 were the released film, hearing that in the visual dictionary the dagger was actually what was used to kill her parents. And this change helps the emphasis the film puts on Rey sensing darkness with the dagger lend itself to helping with the change about speaking to the user with spiritual whispers rather than a technical compass instrument.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Well, that read was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Nice summary of what we’ve got.

A major overhaul across the board. I specially love the changes to Rey’s vision & Kylo’s offer.

I don’t know if this was already mentioned or not, but Movies Remastered, I noticed, did a video talking about a continuity error involving Rey still having Anakin’s lightsaber after giving it to Leia.

Is it possible that VFX can be done to remove it hanging from her belt in the shot where she runs to grab the Jedi texts during the Resistance briefing?

We’ve already tried everything there. A crop cuts too much off. VFX would be too large of a task.

If it were up to me, I’d just remove that entire brief scene of Rey running up to the chest with the books in it. So she runs away in the middle of the Resistance meeting only to return with the books (still makes sense). Plus, Merry has a weird line in the background of that brief scene. Something like, “There were always whispers of his hunger to cheat death.” Most people didn’t know of Palpy’s Sith origin in the Empire, so it’s a strange line to say the least.

Great idea for a compromise, Jar Jar! With the name of a character as reviled by the Star Wars community as can be, that is certainly something I don’t think anyone in-universe would even dream of saying! ^^;
