Is there a fan edit that removes 3rd flashback from The Last Jedi? (Luke-Ben scene)

Hello there. I’m new here and i try to find my canon last jedi movie 😄 I’m sorry if there is a special topic where we will ask our general questions about fan films. I’m new here and couldn’t find it.

I don’t like Last Jedi’s Luke. Especially I hate scene which Luke activate lightsaber while Ben sleeping (Last(3rd) flashback). And I don’t know why most of edits include this scene (I watched 10-15 edits). If I made an edit (maybe in future), this would be the first scene I delete. I search edits which delete this scene or revise (for example put 1st flashback to last) Are there fan edits delete or revise this scene? I’ll be glad if you can help me 😄

But that’s the ‘real’ version of what happened. It’s kind of a key resolution to that plot element. Though if you delete it, leaving only the two less accurate recollections, I suppose that would add an interesting amount of additional ambiguity.

I have seen a tweak to it here (I don’t recall who by, sorry) where it was adjusted to have Luke explicitly turn his saber off before Ben struck at him, making it clearer that Luke wasn’t going to attack him, which might be the sort of thing you’re looking for.

If I remember correctly that was an idea put forward in the ST Radical Redux thread. I know someone started working on it, but I don’t know if they ever finished it. (I hope they did/do, though!)

Yes, I was talking about something like that. It would be great if someone who knows Edit’s name can tell me name.

By the way, I saw an edit that changed the 1st and 3rd flashback. I liked it. I looked to see if it was posted here but couldn’t find it. I guess he is not a member of the forum. Not very impressive, you don’t ever see the blade actually retract, but if I made a fanedit of TLJ I’d be satisfied. If OP or anyone else finds this interesting they’re welcome to use it, I’ll render a higher bitrate version.

I found another edit without “Devil Luke.” Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi: Anti-Cringe-Cut (DonKamillo) (You need to download the final version of the edit). He describes changing scene as:

  • The final flashback featuring Luke and Kylo has been defused to the point where Luke acts not completely out of character anymore. The following lines have been removed: “He would bring destruction, pain, death, and the end of everything I love because of what he will become. And for the briefest moment of pure instinct, I thought I could stop it. It passed like a fleeting shadow. And I was left with shame and with consequence.”
    Instead after he says “Snoke had already turned his heart…” we see flashes of Kylo (from Rey’s lightsaber-vision in TFA) already wearing his mask, walking towards us and killing someone with his red lightsaber. We return to a shocked Luke who continues with “…and the last thing I saw were the eyes of a frightened young boy who’s master had failed him”. This changes the meaning of the whole scene. Luke failed Kylo because he allowed Snoke to turn his apprentice while he was under his care and not because he tried to kill him in his sleep. Also Luke does not turn on his light saber except to block Kylo’s strike after he consequently attacks Luke.
