Regarding the clone line, I don’t think it’s necessary. “What could you give me?” already has a lot of meanings; it conveys Kylo’s grudge against Palps for being a threat to his power, and him being nothing but a decaying, rotting clone husk of himself.

That line wouldn’t go anywhere at all, so I don’t really understand your point.

I’m personally of the opinion that the Force Ghosts are better left silent, but calling out “Rey!” during the throne room scene would be good. Good idea to get some Rey Nobody stuff as well; maybe ask in that thread for a wishlist, if it’s not too late at this point?

So I got real busy with my personal life today, unfortunately. Tomorrow, I promise I will send Speaking of AI the lines. Here is the video I will be sending him just in case anyone here had anything to say about it.

Quick correction - it would be “No one’s ever really gone” not “Nobody’s ever really gone”. I appreciate the inclusion nonetheless!

I’m still worried about “You’ll die instead.” I don’t think we’ll be able to pull it off with the lip sync, and I think the subtextual difference from changing the line is negligible. I guess it couldn’t hurt to request it, but…

Anyway, thanks again for assembling all of this!

I’ve “re-written” the first scene with Kylo and Palps. Some of the new dialogue could be accomplished with AI.

(Yes, this also requires changing any mentions of the Final Order into the Sith Eternal.)

How exactly can this be accomplished? Both with Palpatine’s voice and having new dialogue for Kylo Ren where you see him speak the lines.

What exactly is wrong with AI-ing new voice clips for Palps?

Honestly, I prefer what he said in the movie over this. Changing one line doesn’t drastically change the situation that much to me. I’m only adding this in the video just so others can choose how they want things to go, just like the Knights of Ren lines. These AI lines will go into the resource clip folder on Hal’s Drive.

I kinda prefer “You’ll die instead.” How would Kylo killing Palpatine give him the “more”, exactly? Also, I think it sounds more… right than the “first”. God, Terrio’s dialogue-writing style…

Whelp…I tried incorporating the LEGO Holiday Special audio; and unfortunately, I don’t think it works. There’s a very clear divide between the two voices, I think, when they’re placed side by side like that. I’ve posted the audio (isolated from the center channel) here, for both LEGO Rey’s line and Human Rey’s original line, in case anyone else wants to take a stab at it:

https://mega.nz/file/Xl0U3ApT#EKYZgapWB33OgakJ694oBUxhC4Ys4aHyfboQT49v4GU

Also, regarding the suggestion of using Battlefront audio, I went through that a while back looking for instances of Rey saying “I am a,” but I didn’t find anything that worked. The examples I found were too rushed, so the different sounds just mushed together and I wasn’t able to split them up cleanly.

Sooo…unless anyone else has other ideas for supplementing the audio, I’ll just repost my latest test below. You know, real casual-like…

Did a little more smoothing out on “I” and “am a.” Is it any better?

Also, maybe I’ve watched this clip too many times, but what if Palps says, “I am all the Sith. You are nothing. A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.” Sade, you’re the expert - did we try it that way already? Would it make any significant difference to the scene?

Hell if I know.

Having the same accent as Daisy, I think the sound-a-like was annoying to the point I struggled getting through the holiday special. In the most part the new girl sounded like a dumb parody of Rey as the pronunciation to some words were so exaggerated and unnatural, imo.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way, too me it’s sounds like a more exaggerated and way too british emphases sound. I’m not looking forward to the lego game due to this very reason.

Just a suggestion for AI lines in a fanedit, considering the current AI limitations:

Find a useable clip first from SW or another movie with the same actor. One that comes CLOSE to a line you could use with the right emotion and delivery. Then alter a word or two by using the exact same full sentence made with AI (except with a few words changed). Splice the new words into the original line, adjusting pitch slightly by syllable as needed. I’d personally avoid full sentence AI for now. While it does sound like the actor, it sounds like them out of character reading an audiobook out loud. Even if you could load a new sample set of Kylo instead of Adam Driver it would still sound like Kylo casually reading a story. What sounds amazing outside of an edit will sound out of place (or even ridiculous) in an edit.

heil Palpatine!

Listening to them side by side, I think the issue is Daisy Ridley’s RP accent; some of her normal accent (London?) leaks through in the vowels, and the Lego actor doesn’t do that. But she matches Daisy’s vocal inflections well, which is what made me not notice without that context.

I’ll have a play around with it and try out some ideas I have in the next day or so, but I suspect that ultimately if Sherlock can’t get a result from it then I’m unlikely to.

What are we exactly looking for? It is a “I am a” or just a “a” to frankenstein it on the scene? Because if the latter work, if it matches the tone and feel, i don’t think it would be a big problem if it is Daisy or not. And again, only us, crazy nerds, would know that (and probably only notice because we know it).
Perhaps we can test it and see how it goes.

Has anyone looked into Chaos Walking for any Daisy stuff? I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve got to imagine that there is at least something that is usable from that film for this edit.

I think just “I…I’m a Jedi” works fine. I don’t think it needs to be “I am a Jedi”

I agree, this thread has been really heavy for about 100 pages with (often well intentioned but ultimately) suggestions for changing things that border on changing things for the sake of changing things.

Changing things for the sake of that? My suggestions generally improve Terrio’s dialogue in the opening scene with Kylo and Palps so it’d be less clunky.

No one has a fully trained Palpatine voice AI model, as far as I know. It would also be quite hard to make one, I think, even for a skilled voice synthesis expert like Speaking of AI.

We’re lucky with Kylo: Adam Driver has done plenty of movies, TV episodes and interviews, and Speaking has already used that material to train a vocal model for him that they use in their YouTube videos. Outside of Kylo’s dramatic outbursts, Driver tends to use his normal voice and a restrained delivery for the role, so hopefully the deadpan output we’ll get from an AI will match reasonably well.

TROS Palpatine on the other hand is very much not a restrained delivery of Ian McDiarmid’s normal voice. There’s only a limited amount of dialogue in the film to train from, but even if you were to widen the focus to a general Ian McDiarmid model and just hope you could pitch shift it and add some reverb to match it in, I think it’d still be way too deadpan to fit McDiarmid’s iconically theatrical portrayal of Palaptine.
