It is called people having a different opinion than you. Apparently you think that any post critical of the current Star Wars movies and actors, any post in opposition to how you have limited discussion in your thread, any post critical of anything said by you and other “anti toxic”(for want of better wording) is harassment/toxic. That is silly and ridiculous. I for one have had enough of it.

It appears to me that you created this thread to have a dig at another member here because you didn’t like the scope of their thread (or maybe his and/or others’ opinions too?) - despite that member encouraging others to create threads on a wider discussion re fan toxicity if they so wished (of which this thread certainly isn’t).

If you don’t like screams in the void’s thread - feel free to ignore it. If you feel you’d like to create a thread with a wider discussion on fan toxicity… go ahead - though please leave digs at other members, and their threads, out of it. Thank you.

I would classify this as a safe-space thread that doesn’t really encourage discussion. We’re really only allowed to discuss “toxicity” as narrowly defined by the original poster, which is fine if that’s what he wants, but makes the thread pretty limited in scope.

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with “safe spaces”, but let’s call a spade a spade, shall we?

Suffice it to say, complaining about this thread being a “safe space” feels to me like a complaint about not being given license to be an asshat.

But I have been disappointed by this thread in that it doesn’t let one discuss fan toxicity from any perspective save the one indicated in the OP.

You are of course welcome to create a thread which would address those differing perspectives (or check other previous threads on similar discussions - maybe the ‘Culture, politics, and diversity in Star Wars’ thread or the ‘Let’s talk about Star Wars fans’ thread has/are addressing some of those?)

About the film…

Director and writer Todd Durham, in his first feature length film, gives us a bizarrely yet joyful mega-budget adventure straight out of the growing Star Wars enthused parody collection. Actors Chris Elliott and Paula Poundstone are joined by Lord Buckethead himself to star in this manly Earth-based 1984 sci-fi romp.

Vader & Jawas are teamed up to take over the universe - and film’s tagline of ‘The Fate of Mankind Hangs in the Balance’… gives it a far more grandiose plan than the story (and budget) delivers.

In the US it was known as ‘Hyperspace’, in the UK ‘Gremloids’, and apparently in Germany it was known as ‘Gremlords’.

Film plot / synopsis (from wikipedia):-

'Princess Serina has stolen vital radio transmissions from an evil Galactic Alliance. The Darth Vader-like villain, Lord Buckethead, pursues Serina, but, due to an error in navigation, instead lands on Earth.

Lord Buckethead then leads his Jawa-like minions into the nearby suburban town while none the wiser of his blunder. He immediately mistakes town folk such as Chester, the local baker, for a galactic hero called Captain Starfighter; and again later Karen, an employee at a local transmission repair shop, for Princess Serina, whom he promptly abducts for interrogation.’
