I don’t think we factored that in.
I don’t think we factored that in.
You could snip the voice stress part, and go right to “What are your prime directives?”
I’ll agree with the voice stress part, and also I’d say the first few quick flashes after 46 seconds, before you get to them saying any actual sentences.
No worries I’m keeping both of those.
Now that I know you meant force as a pun, I’m more on board with it.
In that case, I’ll throw in a few more suggestions along those lines (some of these I’m thinking of as like self-motivational (also demotivational) sayings, some as straight up prime directives, and some just ironic).
Really hoped to think of a way to fit a Darth Vader line from The Holiday Special, but I don’t think there’s much that can be done with “I want the Rebels located and identified… if it means searching every household in the system!” other than “Search… every household in the system” but it isn’t as funny as many of the others.
Maybe this has been asked before, and I apologize if it has (it’s hard to track everything in a 128 page thread), is there a version of these Harmy despecialized versions which has a menu? I’m kind of digging the pictures at the top of each of the threads here on originaltrilogy.com. I have the AVCHD versions and was able to play them on my machine. Thanks, Harmy.

Well, really this is more for archival and/or viewing directly from a disc in a hardware player. That said, the menus do mostly work on a PC with Kodi, though with some extreme lag (like 30 seconds) between when you click on an option and the current menu stops / the next menu comes up fully or the selected video starts. Not that it helps you any with your network media player of choice.
Well, a prime directive involving his distaste for sand would be welcome…
Also, yes, the joke may be running on a hair too long… I at first would have said to cut out the tracking scene, but then his head moving ended up just being too good.
Actually, I think we could lose between 00:46 and 01:25, since so much dialog was cut out anyway regarding his biological arm that what is left doesn’t really add much, and the “signed a release form when he joined the force” part doesn’t really fit (unless “force” is a pun). Also, are you wanting to imply that his memory is blanked from this point on in your future handling of Vader?
Just a heads up that I will be removing the edits from MEGA in the coming days. If you are yet to download the set and would like to do so, feel free to PM me (asap), otherwise they will still be available via myspleen.
Thanks to everyone here who chipped in on these forums for your encouragement and assistance in getting these blurays finished. It was a pleasure working on them and sharing them with you all. Hopefully those that downloaded them have enjoyed what they’ve seen.
I’ve decided to retire from fan-editing to work on other things, so if anyone would like to adapt these blurays for future releases of the Despecialized editions, please feel free to do so with my blessing. But the simplest method would be to swap out the new video (when Harmy releases it) with the outdated version using multiAVCHD.
Thanks again, and best wishes,
njvc
Good luck with everything! Though, when Harmy’s ESB v2.5 does come out, it would be wonderful if you could pop in to make sure we’re not having unforeseen issues integrating it. With SW v2.7, ESB v2.5, and ROTJ v2.5 all in this format, we will finally have everything to a stable point which we can confidently archive to expensive media (v3 will be a very different and sufficiently distinct milestone from this and whatever the new collaboration comes up with will be quite different and distinct, as well. All a good ways away from a stable rallying point, at that).
What are the odds that, despite actively keeping up with all of the main Despecialized threads, I didn’t find out about this amazing Blu-ray set until this time yesterday, which just so happens to coincide with the beginning of an unexpected freeleech period at the spleen?
(On a related note, in just that time I’ve already gotten all of the double layer options of the films and all the documentary discs.)
I always felt this way of writing it to be more accurate and recognizable:
nnnnnnnnnNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo…!!!
I have 2.5 mkv and I’m on a Mac. Any pointers on converting these for BR?
Well, considering the thread you’re on, I’d start by saying get v2.7… And then, if you’re still starting from the MKV (more on another option in a second), the generally recommended action has been to convert the MKV to a Blu-ray ISO by simply running it through tsmuxerGUI (obviously don’t expect menus or anything fancy with this route), and burning the result with a good disc burning program.
If you want to make it even easier on yourself (since you should download the upgraded version anyway), you may want to consider looking for whatever suits your needs from this project http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-Despecialized-Editions-Custom-Bluray-Set/id/49995
Anyone have a recommendation for a good Mac disc burning program?
Yeeesh. No bitstreaming, no bd-r, no avchd. Assuming the ps4 does all of these things, waiting a few more months for the neo would make perfect sense … if it weren’t for bloody Comcast and their lockout of hbo go on sony’s systems.
That’s crazy. I’m really glad I’m not in a position of having to deal with Comcast (they’d better not get chummy with Cox, ever). Have you considered just giving Comcast less money monthly by cancelling premium channels and subscribing (as needed, even) to HBO NOW, instead? Not saying it would save money (I have no idea if this would be more or less than you pay now [or whether you’d use it all year or re-up as needed]), but it would certainly be a way of voting with your wallet, as you’ve expressed a desire for. Comcast certainly deserves a loss of income on this issue more than Sony does (plus, HBO would get monetary support directly from you, rather than splitting it with Comcast). Think it over.
Check this thread for Blu-ray versions of despecialized.

What the holy crap??? How did I miss that we have BDs WITH the DTS-HD MA tracks, as well as all audio/subtitle tracks, menus and a butt-ton of extras (including even more audio tracks… such as Rifftrax)? I follow Harmy’s SW, ESB and ROTJ threads and the v2.7 thread pretty closely (or at least so I thought) and had no idea about this… Did I miss some posts about this in these places before now?
Huh, I never noticed that before.
Yeah, Obi-wan cuts off all his remaining organic limbs, making him a full quadriplegic amputee. It is funny, I always imagine that it cuts down on his force ability to an extent (especially if you bring Midichlorians into it), explaining why he’s not quite as force-active in the OT as he is in the PT. Also take for example how Luke got shot directly in his mechanical hand on Jabba’s sail barge, as if he isn’t as force sensitive in his fake limb. (Of course, Vader’s force choke hand motions would then have to be phantom muscle memory related to the force technique and technically not necessary.) (Also, it would really have to slow down his lightsaber dueling reactions as he’d have to direct the force to manipulate his artificial limbs rather than them being directly controlled by the force… Which strangely would be just about the decline in speed we see between PT duels and OT duels. [Obi-wan should have owned him on the Death Star, now that I think about it {unless he had force-arthritis}])
Anyway, if you use the Robocop footage past the point when he gets up and starts walking, you should consider putting an image of Darth Vader walking by in the TV screen he passes by displaying a live recording of him. (at 2:57 in the video)
I did hear this explanation before. Pretty sure it was official.
That was just a guess on my part, do you have a source?

It only just occurred to me: would that mean it couldn’t play MoD bd’s like the ones from Warner Archive?
What can I say? All this heavy-handed content control crap hurts honest users far more than it deters or even inconveniences determined pirates, which causes a vicious circle in which honest users circumvent “protections” they wouldn’t otherwise breach to view their legally obtained content… or, alternatively, just give up entirely and still negatively affect future “sales” by choosing not to purchase what they otherwise would have, to avoid getting burned again (these “lost sales” generally still being attributed to piracy in most figures, rather than admitting it is attrition due to sustained negligence on the part of the content producers).
There is no “catch all” for piracy that doesn’t affect legitimate legal use cases, so really, there are some distribution levels that should just keep their noses out of the whole squabble, video game consoles that also play movies particularly shouldn’t butt in with their own judgement of you, on top of everything. Do one thing and do it well; how hard is that?
Really, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if completely not supporting burned discs is just one more hurdle they’ve put in to keep pirated games from ever being played, more so than suppressing illicit video content. It is still overreaching DRM regardless of intent, as there’s obvious collateral damage like what you mentioned.
I think he used an auto translator.
yes, I am from Spain , and not English
I’m just poking fun at the results of the translation, please understand that despite my joking I do respect you for putting in the effort to try and communicate in a language you’re not comfortable with.
A sincere greeting.
When Anakin rotates up in the Darth Vader outfit, perhaps he can yell a nice, hearty Episode I “Yippie!”.
“I’ll try spinning, that’s a good trick!”
Haha.

There are idiots on both sides.
Title crawl.
Now there are two of them.
Maybe a comment from Luke suggesting Padme’s vagina is 2 meters wide…
Also, when Luke is given to Owen, perhaps Owen could say something overly demanding of Luke for his age (much like Yoda saying he is too old to begin the training), like “He’d better… … or there’ll be Hell to pay”.
hello good morning , my name is Jesus , it seems a spectacular job , mipregunta is where I download the ISO image Star_Wars_SSE_TN1_v1_6 , thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
a greeting
First, I was excited that we’ve found Jesus, and also that he’s a fan of the original version Star Wars preservation projects; I was thinking that was basically all the joking comment I would make… but then I saw that “a greeting” line, which just kills me… 😆
Actually, with the attention spans kids have right now, they probably aren’t really taking in the crappier scenes, only focusing on the things they liked in the films. As they get older, if they watch them again I think they’ll wonder what they saw in the prequels. Heck, even here, Harmy’s brother ranked Episode 2 above some of the originals, but couldn’t remember a thing from it (probably drawn to how flashy and busy it was). Harmy should check back with him in a few years and do an update of this video, I think it’d be fun to see his perspective change over time.
Damn you Frink, I was looking up doctor stuff on google for inspiration and got drawn into a Korean drama called “Doctor Crush”.
