Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

In the video, on the left, it constantly wipes back and forth between v2.0 to v2.1, on the right you can see v2.0 above v2.1.

And here's a picture of one of the changes I've just done in reel 3:

View at full res and look to the sky :-)

Looks good, but I can't help notice that the dome behind the Bantha seems to be missing one of the two [lines, antenna, whatever] protruding into the sky on its left side.  Also, the remaining one seems a bit more blurred...

Reading it over, I'm not sure if what I wrote will come off the way I meant, that being: while it may not be in time to be turned into physical presents, it will be a great present to the world regardless of when this season it is released.  Take exactly as much time as you need, and know we appreciate your efforts every step of the way.

And as far as presents go, at least, with a potential release date so close to Christmas, sufficient time for burning and testing of enough copies might not be very realistic.  Still, an on (or just before or after) Christmas release would be a heck of a present for fans everywhere.

Just how does Santa Harmy visit so many houses, with his generous Star Wars gifts, in just one night?

Perhaps originaltrilogy.com should consider becoming a private, member's only site to help protect it from the eye and ire of Disney.  Lucasfilm was good enough to fan edits, but Disney probably won't so much...  What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Bad idea. It will just draw more attention and make it look like we have something to hide. We have not needed to hide up until now. To do so now would be a bad idea. Do you really believe private sites can't be infiltrated?

It is not that I believe private sites cannot be infiltrated, but having a disclaimer that must be read and agreed to before gaining entry could help against someone building a case so easily.  It is just a thought, and others have had good points that this site doesn't actually link to anything questionable...

I agree with you half-way. That is, I think this website should stay public, but some of the more high-profile projects should follow -1s model of establishing a private invite-only website to share the nitty-gritty details and hype prior to release.

That's basically what I wanted to get at, just wasn't sure if this site being private or moving detailed discussion to a different private site would be best.  So, ignoring my incomplete ideas from before, what do people think about AntcuFaalb's take on privacy?

R.I.P Lucasfilm 1971-2012 :(

that's what happened to my Jorg Sacul action figures, when i heard the news...Today will be a day long remembered. It has seen the death of Lucasfilms, and will soon see the end of SW fan's childhood ...Sad...sad.

and all the expand universe stuff is not interesting at all, to see in films..seriously if there's some disney's good films from franchise (Avangers for exeeeeeeemple) they are all forgettable..and i'm pretty sur that the episodes 1,2,3 will be masterpieces compared to every new SW disney movie to come.

no more fox fanfare, no more lucafilm logo, no more darkness, more ewoks, more jar jar ear Mickey, and more princess leia SWHS songs...

lightning my lightsaber, cut my head off !!!! oh shitt i'm still waking

Btw : from what Simon pegg's movie is that ?

It is from a British TV series called "Spaced", which was directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc.) and co-stars Nick Frost.  The funniest thing about this scene to me is that, as far as I can figure, the first season may have been in production before Star Wars Episode 1 came out, during that time they were very positive about Star Wars but didn't use any actual sounds, music, or paraphernalia of Star Wars, but come season 2 (produced well after SW Episode 1) it seemed almost as if they got permission from Lucasfilm to reference and use Star Wars stuff more based on how positive the first season was toward Star Wars, but, of course, they were now jaded.  (How was that for a lengthy sentence?)  So, when the season starts, one of the characters has come back from a trip and asks what Simon Pegg's character has been up to, he says he had a few things to work through... with George Lucas, and they cut to the bonfire that you asked about (complete with Return of the Jedi music).  Here's a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJlgpozN31s  and the Jar-Jar hate train doesn't stop there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUQfHRfX2o8

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Hopefully Disney isn't harder on fan versions than Lucasfilm alone was...  If so the future despecialized editions might need to be discussed less publicly.  Also, I have great hope now that an official unaltered trilogy will see the light of day in HD, but Harmy's version still needs to happen, not just because the Special Editions are a wrong we still need to prove to Lucas that we can right on our own, but because no studio is going to be nearly so exacting as us super-fans.  If we get the holy grail of official releases, there could still be color timing issues, or minor to less than minor tweaks, the "wrong" scrolling text, or just whatever that we don't end up liking; at that point, all the effect I see that having on this project is a 1080p source for a v3.0 to be based off of.  We can call it Anal Star Wars (or hopefully something much better, haha).  Stharmy Wars?

I look forward greatly to the v2.1, I can't wait for my investment in a Blu-ray burner to finally pay off.  Also, I do agree with something Innsmouthian said above and hope you will consider it, removable subtitles for the alien languages I feel would be a very welcome addition to v2.1 and beyond.  Not only do burned-in English subtitles greatly interfere with foreign language subtitles, but it also makes the video difficult to use for any other projects and interferes with those who would like to control placement of subtitles (rather them in the black bars, etc.).  It is nice that you nail the original font (though I don't know if the v1 placement was ideal, it seemed too high on the screen and with more than one line of text the top line seemed too long compared to the bottom line, top heavy, if you will).  Plus, I want all those scenes as pure as possible, and subtitles that someone else put there and cannot be removed feels like a tweak, edit or addition, which the despecialization shouldn't be about.  Well, that's my two cents, I look forward to v2.1 regardless.

Droids Series Complete Set. Reconstruction from multiple sources. V1.0 is out! (Released)
Time

I'd like to chime in with my excitement about this project as well.  Droids is very nostalgic for me, yet I know it isn't something that I won't be able to appreciate on its own merits as an adult, since it still resonated so well with me when I watched most of it again as a teenager during its SciFi Channel airing.  I look forward to enjoying this properly for the first time since I saw it as a child in the 80's (and I clearly remember being VERY upset once when we had to leave the house while Droids or Ewoks was on).

Haha, considering my milestone ages at which I've watched this show, at this rate, there'll be an official, high def release of Droids on schedule for release by my golden years, so I can re-experience it all over again, just really old.

retardedted, do let us know as soon as you get that tape in and if the quality seems usable, I'm eager to hear progress updates, considering how close this project may be to completion.

(And yes, I own the official DVDs, but they're blasphemy.)

Hooray, activity on X0 project. Well, since last time I posted, I got a real job and moved to another state. So I'll likely donate in the imaginable future. It is all worth it to get something that is better than these current dvds that are available. Especially since I recently found even MORE changes in the SE/DVD than I previously thought existed (mostly in the audio of Empire [not just that jango crap]). Seriously, keep up the great work.

I want you to know, I fully support your efforts Laserman. I look forward to seeing how this project turns out. I believe Mr. Lucas has blinded himself to his fans' perspective and we will therfore have a hard time getting a good official master of this important bit of theatrical and world history. You seem to have good playback and capturing equipment and your knowledge of video seems more than sufficient by what you say. Your method comes across very sound and I highly anticipate having a good quality OT master just for fans. I'll help however I can, if I can.
