Battlestar Galactica
Time
Just wondering if any of you guys watch Battlestar Galactica on the SciFi network. It's simply an excellent show and a great take on remaking the original. I was disappointed it wasn't nominated for any emmy's as I think it's one of the 3 best shows on TV (quality wise), "24" and "Lost" being the other ones. Can't wait for season 2 to start tonight.

2. Get loads a feedback from people who think "scene x" needs work in a certain areas. After all, 100 heads are better than 4.

Only downfall could be the triggering of a C&D. It's up to you.

Whats C&D? I think that's actually a good idea of getting people to give massive feedback that a few people might overlook (though I'm sure you guys wouldn't ).

DVD Covers (Eps. I,II,III, V & VI)
Time
@ wannabegeorge: Very nice covers, but yeah where is Ep IV? One suggestion though (sorry for adding it late as I've just found this thread and haven't been following it). Would it be possible to add a large Star Wars logo at the top of the front? I see the Star Wars logo in the title of the movie, but the space above it looks a bit empty. Love the rest and can't wait to see Ep IV. Thanks for the images Knolly.

@ Knolly: It was really that hard to do the Volume on the spine? I think if you made it in small font (& maybe a greyish color) right above the I & II it would look good. If you can show me an example, that would help from my side on if it looks bad or not.

I agree with that statement. Volume II looks good, but I does bug me a bit. I think if you kept the Clone Wars logo like you had it before and moved the Star Wars logo to the bottom and maybe a tad smaller it wouldn't look so busy. Nice work though, I like how it's coming along.

The idea of the volume I like, but as for the Star Wars logo, were you thinking of having it on the front cover or the spine? I'm thinking having it above the logo on the front cover would do it, but to me it would probably make the spine seem too "busy".

Sorry for the late feedback, been a few days since I visited this thread. Glad you like the Volume idea. I was thinking ofthe Star Wars logo on the front also, but maybe small logo below the pics on the front cover where the white space is. Maybe in light grey to make it not stand out, but so you can see it there.

@ Knolly: Very nice job man, I like them a lot. A couple suggestions though. What about adding a small Star Wars logo on the top or bottom an addition to the Clone Wars title? Also what about adding in small print the word "Volume" above the I & II on the sides of the covers? With those 2 additions I'd think it'd add a bit more clarification of what the cases were. Very nice job though, I'd like to see OOT, SSE, and PT covers also in that format.

Very cool project tellan, the discs sound impressive. When you are finished moving everything to the new server and everything's setup, would it be possible for you to go back through your posts and update the links with the correct paths on your new site? Also, how would one get a hold of these discs in the states? I'm very interested in getting them. Thanks!

The Things We Hate And Love Thread .
Time
0. Just finding this thread and having to skip from pages 16-115 so I can get back to work.
1. AIM sounds being played loudly on a persons computer when your in a public room and not realize it's annoying to other people. I also dislike other IM sounds being played loudly, but I really hate AIM sounds being played loudly. Can't they use better sounds? I wish there were a predetermined setting on your sound card so if your listening through speakers to music and such AIM & IM sounds wouldn't play so loudly and they would only play loudly if you want through head phones.
2. Spyware. Can't list Viruses as I've never gotten one, but have had a ton of spyware. I seriously believe people who create spyware & viruses who are caught should face full prosecution from the law and have their lives ruined and thrown in jail. Spam can be put into this group as well, but at least spam can be managed.
3. Ozzy's music, disco, gangster rap, and country music.
4. Fox cancelling Dark Angel, Firefly.
5. The X-Files's last 3 seasons and their series ending, the show deserved better and I want a conclusion to the alien conspiracy.
6. How big reality show's have become and stupid people watching them.
7. College football not having a playoff system and the BCS system.
8. Joe Paterno staying on too long and dragging Penn State's football program down into the gutters.
9. These stupid little lizards that are everywhere (& I hate especially when they get in your house) in the state of Florida.
10. Hurricanes and other natural disasters (but I hate hurricanes especially since I live in south FL).
11. Dial up.
12. George Lucass' yes men.
13. George Lucass for having no respect for the OOT and not realeasing it on DVD in prestine format.
14. Paying bills, taxes, car insurance, health insurance, dental insurance and such. The only thing I think Canada has on us is the universal health care system.
15. The state of FL for being stupid and f'ing up the election and electing Bush.

Who has caved?
Time
I caved the 1st week it came out, but I've also bought/downloaded the 97 SE DVD set and various versions of the OOT and as well have the VHS sets of the OT and 97SE. Call me a Lucass whore. TR47, is that a Region 0 set? How much did you pay for it? Where'd you get it (if you don't mind me asking)? Now I wish I would have waited for that chinese set as that looks pretty cool, but I supposse that's what we might be seeing next year along with Ep III when he releases the 6 movie set. Only good thing is you didn't fork any $ over to Lucass like I did.

I like many people here feel the OOT should be released to be preserved (ah lah the quote on the homepage). I'm real glad I found this site though (so I won't have to buy anymore on ebay) and can't wait for projects like the X0 to be released.

War of the Worlds
Time
Saw it yesterday and walked away feeling unsatisfied. Lots of plot holes that Klingon_Jedi mentioned so I won't go into that. Funny you guys hate ID4, as I very much liked that movie and have watched it over and over. It's a popcorn flick nothing more, so I don't let stuff like them hooking up the Apple laptop to the alien mothership deter me from enjoying the movie. On a scale of 1-10, I rate it a 5. Liked the Ep III a lot better then that (rate it at a 7.5) and Batman was just awesome (I give it a 9) and will probably be my favorite movie of the summer. Let me put it this way, I liked Ep I better then this movie.

TURN OFF CAPS . I was thinking about that ealier and still not quite sure what to think. My heart says Sith (as I'm a Star Wars fan 1st), but my mind says Batman. It was just that great, IMO.

OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE RELATIVELY NEW TO THE BOARDS, SO I WELCOME YOU HERE. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK. IT'S PART OF MY SIGNATURE WHICH ANYBODY WHO HAS BEEN ON HERE FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME KNOWS THAT I TYPE IN ALL CAPS. READ MY TITLE UNDER MY SCREEN NAME.

Not completely new to the boards, but new to the off topic section and just saw the conversation in the DVD thread. lol

I liked Resurrection (with a few minor quibbles.) How was the original script different?

I didn't read the script myself, but from reading bits on AICN it's pretty well known the original script was much better then what we actually saw on screen. Found this on Whedonesque and some quotes are:

Chirp wrote:Okay I just finished the script. It's pretty rough, but it is obvious this is vastly superior to the story in the film, which I am watching RIGHT NOW. The story ENDS ON EARTH. Ripley fighting the Newborn (for whom she feels no maternal bond). That is emotional profundity, and a direct approach to the intent of the whole Alien series-- stopping these things from killing us all. Most importantly, Ripley has a character arc. She accepts her humanity after the clone/freak show scene. Thus, she's not left chewing scenery.
I think this movie was probably WAY TOO EXPENSIVE too shoot. I understand why it got changed, though I wish it hadn't.

EdDantes wrote:Half way through the script myself, but it's clear it got butchered in the moviemaking. Many basic things are stil there but they're altered in such a way, that what was good about them or what point they had, is taken out. It's also been considerably toned down in darkness, violence and language. Gotta appeal to the families when making sf/horror about fighting and killing horrid alien monsters ya know.

And yes, matter of fact, they did run out of budget. Joss once said he had to rewrite the end about 3 times. They had no money for any of it.

Not sure if this script is the real deal, but you can read it here if your interested.

Don't forget to share those Firefly discs!

Not sure if this has been already asked yet (and I don't want to get into a debate of what's better), but I'm assuming this set will be released in the true letterbox 235:1 or whatever. Any chance we can get this in anaphormic? Maybe there could be 2 sets (once the 1st one's done of course) for people who want both. Is that possible?

mind telling us? I for one, would be interested to hear.

Hopefully ADigitalMan can go more in depth to this (because it really is an interesting read), but basically I believe this film was 1st greenlighted back in 1996 and has been trying to be made ever since. It seems every year a new script would turn up and a new director in the chair. They've gone from nearly everybody to try to play the role of Superman from Nic Cage to Josh Harrnet. Nobody wanted the role and it seemed this film was doomed from the start. That's where the Superman vs. Batman talks 1st came out before Peterson left the project. Then somehow (I still have no idea how they got so lucky) made a stroke of genious in getting Brian Singer to do the film. Suddenly, he found his Superman/Clark Kent and the supporting rolls all filled up quickly by quality actors (that nobody wanted to play before Singer came aboard).

Now I didn't want to make it too obvious.

I was managing a comic store at that time, so you said a MOUTHFULL!!!

Gotcha . Simply amazing the process that lead up to Singer getting hired wasn't it?

And ADigitalMan, I pretty much agree with you on the Katie Holmes saga. It seems like she's along for the ride regarding this Tom Cruise thing and I don't think it'll last much longer. Hopefully once they break up she can get back on the good graces as I've never liked having different actors playing the roles that somone else has played in a series ** cough cough Hannibal **.
