Star Wars DVD Covers

@ Senator_Polk_of_NJ: If you wish not to use the crappy geocities hosting, try ImageShack. It's a pretty kick ass service for hosting pics, but they do have a size limit.

@ Rikter: I agree with SquashMaster, those Japaneese covers are great. You really should convert them to English. They're sweet man.

@ Coov: Those are simply awesome! Great work man, I think I might use those for my official sets. Is it possible to get a cover for the bonus disc as well?

So how many times did you actually see Sith

I haven't had good experiences seeing Star Wars at the movies. While seeing AOTC, I had a loudmouth behind me that yacked throughout the entire film ("Oh, COME on." "What a bunch of @#$#%").

During ROTS, I had a group of...teenage girls behind me. Giggle giggle giggle...

I wasn't impressed. I spent $6 or $8 or whatever it cost to watch the movie, not listen to live commentary.

It was better when I went to see it a second time.

That's one of my pet peeves. I've pretty much stopped going to movies on Fri or Sat nights now because I always encounter a bad situation. Last time at War of the Worlds some jackass kept putting his feet on the back of my chair after I repeatedly asked him to put them down. Cell phones, alarms going off all the time as well. It seems everytime I go to a movie at night there's some situation (at this particular theater I like to go to) so I've just decided I'll only go to matinee showings on the weekend for most movies (I'll probably see Serenity on Fri night however when it opens up).

Back on topic, I went twice to the theaters to see the Sith. The 1st one was the midnight showing which they showed on 13 screens and there had to be 1000 people there (in Boca Raton). Didn't have a problem at all there (besides the screening not starting till 12:45am), but I atest all that to the Star Wars fans in the theater. It didn't match my AOTC experience, which I saw the midnight showing as well. That will probably be the best movie experience of my life. It made the movie better. The next time I saw Sith was at the digital screen in Boston. That was pretty cool, but I thought I saw more of an a difference in Clones then I did see the Sith. Like JangoxFett, once it's released on DVD I'll probably see it over and over.

What is your favourite reference to Star Wars films in other shows (TV and Film)?
Time
Since you guys already listed my top 5 favorites, here they are:

1. The Simpsons - Homer: (walking out of a theater) I can't believe Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.
> Simply great and you had to love the crowds reaction to Homer telling Marge that. LOL
2. Buffy - Spike: You think you can fool me?! You were my sire, man! You were my... Yoda!
> Had to be one of the best Star Wars reference in that show. And boy, they had lots of them didn't they? Great show btw.
3. Chasing Amy - The quote Cable-X1 posted.
> That is simply great and then seeing the act play out is so freakin funny.
4. Friends - The post JennyS1138 referred to.
> Really great cause we saw Jennifer Anniston in the Leia outfit. Enough said.
5. Reign of Fire - The enactment that imperialProbeDroid was referring to.
> The performance was really great and seeing the kids reaction to it was great as well. The only thing that made it bad was what imperialProbeDroid referred to (but thought it was funny), but the preformance was pretty damn good. And in terms of the movie itself, I thought it was decent somewhat enjoyable, not good or bad either way.

***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD

Great covers Erik. Like them a lot. If the labels have the same covers as the covers do, keep them that way. If not, I'd suggest changing Hope and Empire to the red for Hope and blue for Empire. Where are the labels Darth Edious already made posted? In a torrent or in this thread?

BUT NOW IT'S ONE OF THE ONLY T.V. SHOWS THAT I WATCH CONSISTANTLY.

Meaning he, like most of us, got hooked by the quality of the show! When the new 'mini-series' first aired I couldn't stand watching it after a few minutes, but thanks to the DVD release I gave it another chance and when seeing it without commercials I really dug it. Then watched through the first season and -BANG! I was hooked like a junkie!

That is how I took it as well, but wasn't sure which one he then they preferred. starkiller's comments then did confuse me a bit as I thought him and dayv's comments were they preferred the original over the new one and didn't give it a chance. I was more leaning towards starkiller in the "did you give a chance" statement but grouped dayv in there as well. My mistake for that. But I am glad that the fans of the original weren't closed minded enough not to give it a chance and that they do enjoy it now.

@yanksno1 Yeah I would have liked if there was an Official Phantom Menace Logo without episode on it to match the others, but I couldn't find one so I used one that seems to match the Star Wars logo in terms of fonts, The AotC one matches ESB, RotS match RotJ, I figured that TPM should match SW, it was made by Chainsawash

I also made a cover with the star wars logo on it

It look pretty good, but I think I will stick with no logo on top, I could make and email you ones with the logos though if you like it better or you could put them on yourself easily

I think I am almost finished, but I would like to print them out and check them first

Everyone, thanks for the compliments and more suggestions welcome

It's funny, I like the logo better then w/o it. It makes Star Wars stick out more, as I feel it should in any series (OOT, prequels, clones wars, etc.). I was even going to suggest making the Star Wars logo a bit bigger, but of course they're your covers so you do what you want with them. If I use em, I think I'll ask you to put the logo on them for me (if you would do it) a bit bigger.

As for the Menace logo, the ones that Hotrod linked to I think would work better. At least I now know where that one came from. Very nice job though.

I personally think the new one is one of the best shows on TV (with Lost and 24 being my other favorites). BSG should have been nominated for some emmy's and was robbed. If this season is as good as the 1st season was and doesn't next year, it'll only confirm my belief's that all award shows are fixed.
If DAYV is like me, we were so used to the original storyline that the huge departure that was made from the original was, at the very least, hard to deal with.

Imagine that Star Wars was reimagined by George Lucas so that Darth Vader hung out with Luke and the gang, and they didn't know he was the bad guy (assuming Baltar is a bad guy).
Imagine that Han was redone as female (i.e. Starbuck).
Imagine that R2 shot Luke at the end of A New Hope, while an identical R2 was busy fixing vaporators on Tatooine.
See what I mean?

Believe me I completely understand how you guys feel on the changes. I know there were a lot of fans PO'd about the changes, especially when they were 1st released. So have you guys tried watching the show? Or is it too much of a stretch to achknowledge the changes? The reason I ask that is b/c I think the changes have been very good. And believe me, I'd be the 1st to say the show sucked if the changes were bad. But Katee Sackhoff is simply great at playing Starbuck. Having the Cylons look like humans now is great too, b/c it adds a complex mind game that the original show didn't have. If you haven't tried watching the show, or have tried but with a closed mind, give it another spin. Like I said before, it's one of the best shows on TV and my new obsession (Buffy being my last).

@ bob23: Like your covers, but the logo's your using for Meanace and Clones really annoy me. What logo's are they? Haven't seen them before. Also, might want to add a generic Star Wars logo at the top of your covers, I feel it looks sorta empty at the top but that could just be me. Good job though.

I thought that the clones logo I used was sort of the "semi-official one" I found it on a lot of stuff

I found the other logo on this thread:
http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=9&threadid=2102&highlight_key=y&keyword1=tim

I don't think there ever was any logo besides ones that included episode 1 in them, if there is please notify me

Also by the top do you mean at the top of the back cover, side or both?

Thanks for the comments

I think your right about the 2 logo's. Maybe it's just because I wasn't used to seeing them. The Phantom Menace logo I was used to seeing I guess is this one (sorry for the links, but the images links weren't working right):

Ep I Logo

Where'd you find that Menace one? I vaguely remember seeing the Clones one, but really don't seeing the Menace one. That's probably why it looked so strange to me.

In terms of the Star Wars logo, I was talking about placing it on the front cover on the top of the covers. Even though the poster images are there, it just feels sorta empty to me. I was thiking of something like this logo:

Star Wars Logo

In the Star Wars Universe:
1. Harrison Ford
2. Alec Guinness
3. Ewan Mcgregor

In the Hollywood Universe:

2. Samuel L. Jackson
3. Collin Ferrell
(female)
Natalie Portman

I find it sorta comical 2 of my favorite actors in the real world have appeared in the Star Wars universe and they aren't my favorite actors while in the Star Wars universe. Show's George's directional ability I think from the PT.

I started a similar thread here (as did Shimraa in another similar thread) and it seems there's a few fans on these boards but not many. I really dig the show (as I'm a big Joss fan) and completely agree with you how Fox F'd it up royally. I encourage you and other members to share the DVDs and also tell them to start watching the show on the SciFi network starting this Friday at 7PM. They'll be showing it at that time slot for the entire series eps (as what was given on the DVDs). It's a great show, can't wait for the movie in Sept.

EDIT: Spelling mistake.

The Ditial Bits wrote:
Other DVD information learned during the presentation: There WILL be a 6-film box set of the complete Star Wars saga on disc, but not in the immediate future (meaning not this fall at least, and probably not in early 2006 either). Additional tweaks and changes will probably be made to the films by Lucas before all is said and done, but that's for Lucas to determine.

So maybe they will wait for the ultra mega edition blueray or HDDVD set and release the OOT as well. One can only dream can't they?

EDIT: Spelling Correction

I don't think so. In order to be a grownup and discuss toys, you would have to be a geek. Web browsers are discussed by anyone who dares use them, my mom asks me things about web browsers when she tries to use the web and she is the complete opposite of a geek, so...

There is a difference in discussing and arguing. I agree, geeks argue while regular people discuss.
