TV Shows on DVD
Time
TV shows on DVD are great. I have lots of them, too many to count. They range from DVD's that I've bought, to DVD's that I "borrow". If I watch them more then once I normally end up buying the set (that happened to Dark Angel S1-2, Dougie Howser S1-2, Who's the Boss S1, and I plan to buy Freaks & Geeks soon). The 1st sets I bought were The X-Files which I own S1-4. I'd buy the rest, but they're so damn expensive. My favorite set is Buffy the Vampire Slayer S1-7 which I own. I also own The Simpsons 1-6, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica S1, Lost S1, and some others. They need to release more seasons of Who's the Boss, that's such a great show. I definetly plan to buy Growing Pains S1 and SeaQuest DSV S1 when they come out in the next few months. Like I said, TV shows are great on DVD.

I don't really care what she did but they've tried to milk that card for more then its worth.

This show needs to get its footing again, Last week was solid and they need to keep that up for the rest of the season because the first 6 were very uneven. Needs to get back its character driven strength and the way it use to juggle the characters so easily, because thats what is hurting the show the most, too many characters at the moment.

I pretty much agree with you on all accounts you mentioned here. But you have to admit, Kate is great eye candy to look at. And EL is a really good actress, I wanted her up for the role of Lois for Superman Returns, but that could't work out b/c of Lost.

The show has definietly lost a step from last season. I'm currently watching S1 again on DVD and the quality just isn't the same. Every ep last season was an A grade IMO, but so far none have reached that this season. It's even gone into the direction of annoying me several times, but it hasn't made me stop watching. My friend also said it's bored him at times as well, which I agree with also. Last weeks ep pretty much is how I feel about the entire season so far, the 1st half of it was pretty boring, then the 2nd half picked up and was pretty good. But still not on the quality of S1.

And anybody notice how we haven't seen the "monster" yet this season?

Thanks for the suggestions. Have you used this ink before? If so, how's the quality? I'd like to find some relatively inexpensive quality ink, not really looking to get one of those kits or refillable cartridges. They seem too much hassle. Any other suggestions that people have used would be very welcome.

Idea: restore the Quantum Leap S2 DVD music...
Time

Quantum Leap was one of my favorite TV shows growing up, as I can imagine most of you guys as well. With the season 2 DVD set, they took out all the good songs of that season and put in elevator music. I wasn’t sure if someone has already done this, but I thought this could be a neat little project for someone to do. I have no technical experience to do it myself, but I was thinking it’d be great for someone to re-edit those eps and put back in the right songs. Those sets aren’t very well done, so little compression would be lost putting it on a single layer dvd disc. If this already exsists, please let me know. If not, I’d love for someone to start working on this. What do you guys think?

DJ, I don't know what you used for your encoding, but CCE can also do DV-AVI > DVD conversion, I'm pretty sure better than anything around.

Where did you download those versions? I tried searching but couldn't find them (only found 0.96 off their site).

Please do Empire and Jedi ASAP. I really want to have a completed set so I can enjoy them all. You really did such a great job with SW, it'd be a crying shame not to finish the set and finish them soon!

Sorry, I should add, it's always been silver in the OT...not Sith!!

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew something wasn't right, but I must have been thinking of him from the Ep III (& in part might not have noticed it before). Thanks.

Great release Editous. You really did a great job on the disc. This is the set (once the other 2 movies are released) I want to watch on my big screen TV and surround system. A couple questions and one thing I did notice, not sure if it's been talked about or not. If it has, sorry for the reposts on my questions.

1. When 3PO and R2D2 are walking through the hallway in the opening scene and the other droid is behind them, on 3PO's right leg (below the knee) you see a different color then the rest of the gold on his body. It more matches the droid's color behind him, not the gold color 3PO has. Was that intentional, always been there (and I never noticed), or a mixup?

2. How is work coming along on Empire and Jedi? Any time frame for their release?

3. Is it possible for someone to torrent this if they have the means?

Can't wait for the set to be completed.

'Flightplan' Remains Airborne, Tops 'Serenity'

Key Paragraph:
"Universal Pictures' 'Serenity,' which brought the cast and crew of the short-lived FOX drama "Firefly" to the big screen, played in more than 1000 fewer locations (2188 in total) that 'Flightplan,' but averaged a slightly higher $4,616 per screen to earn an estimated $10.1 million. Given the number of devoted fans for the cult series, the true test for "Serenity" will come next weekend. The first week figures were somewhere in line with industry expectations, but don't necessarily indicate that the film has immediately found a crossover audience."

So Serenity did quite well IMO considering it played on 1000 fewer screens then Flightplan did.

Great post JackLucas. That will hopefully push everybody on the edge here to see it this weekend. That's what they're looking for, the 2nd week results. So everybody, GO SEE THIS MOVIE THIS WEEEKEND! You won't be sorry you did.

You actually liked that movie? It had some cool scenes in it, but Pitch Black was a much better movie by far I thought. To each his own I guess.

I'd think pretty much everyone on here is a sci-fi fan.

I had a great time at the movie. You could tell they had a buget to work with, but what they did with it was fantastic. I easily give it a B or a B+ grade. I am however a Firefly fan, so I might be impartial to that. But I think non Firefly fans will have a good time seeing this movie. Trust me, go and see it. Take your friends. Don't be closed minded going into it. If you do that, I think you'll have a good time. Probably not as good as Firefly fans, but you should still enjoy the movie. After that, buy the DVD set. After you watch all the stories and then go back for a 2nd viewing, you'll appreciate the movie even more. Trust me on that one.

Were there any non-Firefly fans that saw this movie? Thoughts?

Superman II and Superman III extended (Released)
Time
So does the extended version make this movie more watchable? I recently tried to watch Superman III and couldn't make through it in one sitting. It was just aweful to me. I liked it much better as a kid. Guess I grew up. Only decent parts were Annette O'Tool as Lana and the Kal El vs. Clark fight. Everything else was just horrendous. People say Superman IV is worse, but not to me. OK, enough of my rant, is it worth my time to download it if I hated watching III again recently?

LOL, I started watching Joey it's 1st season but really dropped it a few eps in. I was willing to give it a shot this season, but probably not anymore. I started watching The O.C. mainly b/c I got it in HD and actually liked it. I found I was doing that often when I 1st got my HDTV, watching shows I normally wouldn't just b/c their in HD. Last season wasn't as good as the 1st, but it is actually a pretty smart, comical, widdy show. Plus, Rachel Bilson's such a hottie.

What I've never understood is why do commercials in 4:3 have the black bars on top and bottom? Before I got my 16x9 HDTV I always thought they were produced for the widescreen format. But even with my 16x9 TV you still got the black bars when watching in HD. It looks like a picture frame of black bars. It seems pretty pointless to me. Is it just to make it look movieistic?
