What do you LIKE about the Prequels?

Jar Jar aside, I'm probably the only one on this forum who actually liked the prequels ¬_¬ I wish they weren't a huge bad-CGI-fest, but somehow I'm able to look past that and really get into them in a way that I probably shouldn't. Maybe it's only because I missed out seeing the original trilogy in theatres, and seeing Eps 2 and 3 on the big screen was a pretty big event for me.

Turnkey solutions available for about $50k.  My wife told me 'no'.
That's a lot of love/money poured into that thing. I want.
I'll probably just end up with this. I have enough Geek Points to get it for free with a $50 purchase.

That's a pretty good price for it.  Amazon has it for $45 or something.  Toys'R'Us only has the whitewall MKIII, but it is for that same price.

But I think I'd rather have a MKII.  Which thinkgeek doesn't apparently have.  :(

Is Part 3 of Anything Ever Good?

Back to the Future III is a perfect example of this.  Now BTTFIII is an OK sequel, but they have the typical 'Marty wakes up next the Lea Thompson character and doesn't know what year it is...."  or "Marty had to evade Biff or Griff cause he insults him and Biff/Griff usually ends up in horseshit.

I think the reason of this is the writer feels you know the characters at this point, so they know its an easy laugh to bring up something from the original movie just in a different setting in the 3rd movie.

I brought this up in the post right above yours.

I do think that BTTF3 was painted into a corner somewhat by BTTF2.  It was sort of damned if you do & if you don't scenario.

Someone (perhaps Zombie) allegated that while the larger plot structure of Star Wars may have been borrowed from Hidden Fortress (as is often retold) that the bits inside the Death Star seem to be coming from elsewhere.  This person hypothesizes that those scenes are adapted from Where Eagles Dare, what with the wookiee prisoner and all that.  And then Dam Busters for the finale.

RIP Peter Falk.  :(

With the 4th of July coming up, it will be time once again to watch people try to capture the magic of fireworks on their cameras.  It's especially bad when they use their phone cameras.

My theory is that they started doing this years ago and haven't seen fireworks with their naked eyes for some time.  When they see the video or the pics, they think they look pretty good.

Unfortunately I experienced something similar when I had to record my daughter's dance recital the other day.  Since I had to watch it through the camera, I missed out on enjoying the live performance.

But I can watch the camera version any time I'd like.  :(
