And the clip was done quite a while before I came up with Darth Darth.  Someone else mentioned that previously, incidentally.  I guess it will be one of the errors that adywan will have to fix when he does TRM:R ;-)

No one else will notice. Just teasing.

I care noticed.

Okay, what are the rules here?  Do I need to be spoiler cautious as I review?  Am I meant to offer constructive criticism or unabashed praise?

Region-free Blu-Ray

It looks like this'll set me back almost $700. Wish there was a cheaper option like there was for my DVD player, but doesn't like like it.

I'm just here to be your reality check- let's say a decent region locked BD player is $100.  Is it worth the $600 difference to play BDs you haven't even identified yet?  What if you just got the $100 BD player and crossed the bridge of "region free" when you actually want it?  Perhaps that's so far in the future that prices will have come down much further than the $100 sunk cost of this option.

I've been waiting for you to move on for some time...

You know what?  You're right again.  I have spent enough time in this thread.  I will discontinue my end of what I mistakenly thought was a discussion.  Please do a victory dance and declare that you won, you won, you won, due to your razor sharp debate skills.

No, I do not NEED to. You want me to, but I don't have to. Sorry.

You are correct.  You don't need to.  But don't be surprised when no one can understand your opinion if you don't.  It's sort of a basic tenet of communication.

And, as others have said, expressing a subjective opinion like this:

I think RETURN OF THE JEDI is worse than PHANTOM MENACE after watching them all on Blu Ray.

is fine.  When you bring up objective points to validate your subjective viewpoint, you are begging discussion and disagreement.  Especially if you haven't done a good job.

I think we can all deal with it just fine.  You didn't do a very thorough job of trying to make your point.  So most of us will just ignore it and move on.

It's about as useful to anyone else as:

Here's my list of top 10 reasons Star Trek is better than Star Wars:

1. Your mom

2. Your butt

3. I.P. Freely

4. Pull my finger

5. u r dum

6. i rulz

   a. u drulz

7. John Tesh

8. DTS

9. T3h Suck

10. DSIII Blows up.

The end.

RE: The sonnyboy vs 2/4 (feat MRebo) debate

The problem, sonny, is that you claim to give reasons why RotJ is the worst of the six.  All you really gave was a few things you didn't like about RotJ.

You would need to write comparing and contrasting observations to make your case that it's the worst.

For example:

Apples vs Oranges
by xhonzi

Apples are better than oranges.  To wit: Apples come Washington and are red, except for when they're green and sometimes they're a little bit yellow.  They are round and you can put one in your lunch.  They have lots of natural sugars in them and start with a vowel.  Sometimes I slice them and others I just eat them.

The old Star Wars comics - general discussion thread

xhonzi, what about Dark Times? I enjoyed Legacy but felt it was a little weighed down with all the Hutt talk and Yuzhan Vong stuff. Dark Times on the other hand I can't find a single flaw with other than the stupid Vector storyline that muddied up all comics at the time. To me, Doug and Randy are the perfect combo of art and story.

I read the first six issues of Dark Times and the Vector crossover.  I can't say I was impressed.

Remember where I'm coming from: I frinkin' hate the prequels.  To the degree that something reminds me of the prequels, I just can't stand it.  I can't recall anything I got from Dark Times (apart from the general setting) that gave me that vibe, I just remeber that vibe.  I guess if you made a case that I need to look into it again...

Legacy is certainly not without its faults.  You picked on at least one of them- I found the huttese slang to be ~okay~ and it reminded me a lot of firefly... But I did roll my eyes to it from time to time.  I also felt that Legacy was always setting up and seldom paying off... and then it ended... but I enjoyed the ride while it was there.

The Vong- I never read the EU books dealing with the Vong, though I knew of them.  Had I read and hated those books, I might feel more toward the Vong the way I feel toward PTisms... but I don't, so it doesn't really bother me.

I just felt that Legacy did a good job of taking a lot of OT concepts, mixing them up, and dumping them out in a way that felt both original and familiar.

Jedi is a fun movie.  Its entertaining and re-watchable at least to me.

If i had to sit in the cinema through any of the prequels again i would fall asleep from boredom or bring a book to read, lol.

3 of the most boring overhyped cgi spectacles with no plot and zero story ever conceived, even Bayformers are not as bad because at least they don't pretend to be something they are not.

I crossed out everything that had nothing to do with the topic.  You're welcome.

I get your point, but I think ol sky' was on topic.  The OP suggests that RotJ is worse than all 3 prequels.  Sky' is saying that he would rather sit through 1,000 more showings of RotJ before watching another prequel.

I agree with him.

I can't fathom the opinion that places RotJ below the prequels.  It may be that opinions, by nature, can't be wrong... but if they could I would say that opinion is DEFINITELY wrong.

However, I have to also remind myself that the reviewer is basing this wacky opinion on RotJ2011, which I guess I can maybe start to understand.  Last time I tried to watch RotJ2004, I had to turn it off because it was making me angry instead of happy.

RIP RotJ1983.

I am so happy to hear so many of you will be buying 3D TVs. That will hopefully drive the price of non-3D TVs down to a level I am willing to pay for it!

Could be.  There's about $5 worth of cost to a TV manufacturer to support 3D.  What I think we'll see is that 3D TV prices drop to where 2D prices are and then they'll stop making 2D only TVs.  If you buy a new TV, it will support 3D, and you can just ignore the feature if you 'd like.

Just like how they don't sell B&W TVs anywhere or tube TVs.  Newer TVs didn't make those older TVs cheap (at least, not for very long) they just made them non-existant.

A better comparison would probably be 1080p vs 720p.  The over abundance of 1080p models didn't really make 720p cheaper- at least not for more than a couple of months- it just made 720p obsolete about a certain size.  You can't really go looking for 50" 720p sets at some discount below 1080p sets.  They just don't exist.

Or maybe back in the day when getting a DVD player or a receiver that could process DTS was a real luxury.  Now all of them have it.  They were initially priced high, the price came down, and they merged with the "non-luxury" line.

Han Solo in this movie is unmotivated, poorly acted, and completely inconsistent with anything ever this guy has done in the 2 previous movies.

I disagree with inconsistent. I say he's changed. They came back for him. I don't think Han Solo ever said "I owe you one" to anyone in his life before ROTJ. Han is now a team player, someone willing to volunteer to help the Rebellion and I think for the first time, he's someone deeply in love.

Hmm... I don't think I've heard/considered this interpretation before...  I really like it.  He's sort of out of his element.  I think the "coming back and saving Luke & the Rebellion" was new for him at the end of ANH, and I think he felt torn by his old life style and his new one for most of ESB.  He's about to go his own way again (maybe) when Hoth is attacked and he doesn't really get a chance to break free for the rest of the movie.  His situation with Leia and his personal interaction with the Empire deepens after they leave Hoth... so I guess you could say he's decided to throw in with her and her cause by the end of ESB... but perhaps it's that they came back for him in RotJ that really changes him.

Good post, Boost!
