• I like old timey renditions of modern pop hits. Apparently… this is something I just learned about myself.

Scott Bradlee- (one of) the musician(s) behind the ragtime pop hits in Bioshock Infinite has been hard at work making more. LOTS MORE. I didn’t know (Ben! Why didn’t you tell me!?) until just recently… but fans of Bioshock might be the target audience.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Ady- I sincerely offer what might come across as the most backhanded compliment of the night-

Thanks for keeping it subtle. Thanks for keeping it reigned in.

I was a little worried after all of the praise you received for ANH:R that it would all go to your head and you would go all 1990s George Lucas on us and deliver a piece of art mixed with hot garbage. As the years rolled on, and the number of edits grew, so did my concern that you might wreck it.

But I was sincerely wrong- all of your hard work is hidden behind a beautiful Empire Strikes Back which highlights what a great film it is, and you didn’t use it to spotlight yourself at all.

I mean all of that in the most complimentary way possible- despite how it might sound.

You made an incredible thing- and didn’t fall to the Dark Side doing it. A+

Oh, how I miss that game... I went on jk2 yesterday just to see if there was anyone left, and the only players I found were bots. :/

Though after all of this time, I can't remember which side I was on...

Does anyone know for sure if the new TFA trailer is being shown in front of The Avengers 2? I'm going to a midnight premier tonight and am curious to see it on the big screen.

I think that was just a rumor, not confirmed. I'm wondering if they would show a new teaser and the full trailer within a few weeks of each other? The teaser was released only 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing they'll just have the newest teaser.

It's the same teaser... except I saw it in 3D.

and..

It looked AMAZING.

The Death Star III Blows up.

THE END.

ROTJ is the best Star Wars film... discuss!

The Dark Knight Rises.

Last Crusade and TDKR are weaker than what came before, but I have to admit they do make a decent fist of wrapping things up nicely, although there isn't any plot to wrap up in Last Crusade, as the Indy Trilogy are all self contained films. TDKR doesn't have much to wrap up either, as few characters crossover the 3 movies, although the League of Shadows storyline comes full circle.

Where as ROTJ brings all the characters from all the movies and all the threads together in one neat bow IMO

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, although excellent is just a third movie (as has been said above). It's not the conclusion of a third part story.... plus arguably it's a prequel ;-)

I still think often about "Capital 'T'" trilogies. I know I posted about them a few times here- but I only found this example: http://originaltrilogy.com/FORUM/topic.cfm/Act-Breaks/post/451754/

The BTS stuff for PotC2 is really interesting... they didn't write Curse of the Black Pearl to be a Trilogy opener, so they have to sort of backdoor into it to use it as part one of a proper Trilogy. They discuss what was in it that could possibly be used to thread out into parts two and three. Something along the lines of "let's not make sequels- let's make a Trilogy- and if there's nothing in the first movie that sustains that, then we'll just drop it."

Of course... not a trilogy anymore..

George deliberately sabotaged this film so we could never have a perfect trilogy.

Firstly, no he didn't and secondly... I've probably said this before but... ROTJ is probably the greatest and most wholly satisfying conclusion to a movie Trilogy that we have ever, or maybe will ever get.

There are plenty of original franchises with solid, or superior, second entries but only Star Wars is blessed with a third film as great as ROTJ... and that from a man who was trying his best to "deliberately sabotage" it ;-)

What do you know?!? Have you even (had your wife) bought a copy of the book yet?!?!?!

Actually, the producer of the audiobook came in a year ago and I got a free copy from him.

What?!?! When did this happen?

Also I bought the ebook not long after this thread died. So there!

You should probably post pics of the receipt if you expect anyone here to believe you.

Zahn's Other SW Books (was: Survivor's Quest vs Outbound Flight)

Necrobump!

I was going to start a new thread, but I decided this one was close enough. I'm hoping to draw out Anchorhead, or anyone else that really liked the Heir to the Empire trilogy, and followed it up almost immediately with Hand of Thrawn.

I read HttE as they came out- I loved the books then, and as I've said on this site somewhere, I have loved re-reading them as an adult- even as a jaded Star Wars fan. There were levels of complexity I could not appreciate as a young'un that I really dig now.

As mentioned in the first post of this thread, I had never caught up with the Hand of Thrawn. I thought I had listened to 3 hour abridgments, but I'm now thinking that isn't the case seeing how I remember absolutely none of what I'm reading* now.

So I'm reading* Hand of Thrawn now, about halfway through the second book. Is it just me, or are these books kind of terrible? There are enjoyable threads, but on the whole, I'd say they're not very good. Which very much surprised me given how much I like HttE.

Of course, I didn't like Scoundrels that much... and I'm beginning to wonder how much blame to lay at the feet of the reader. Yes, * again means an audiobook. And in fact, it's Mark Thompson- the same reader who might have ruined a couple of other Star Wars books for me. He does some "alien voices" in Hand of Thrawn that have me reaching for the volume control every time.

So here's my question- there seems to be consensus that Hand of Thrawn is not in the same league as HttE... but is it actually bad? Or do I need to ditch Mark Thompson?
