No, did you look at the categories?  There were (among others)

Human or might as well be human Character

and

Alien, but still pretty human

So you can be an alien in either category.  But your degree of humanity determines which of those two groups you might fall under.  Moth3r is arguing that he's human enough to be in the first, but I think you have to wear pants to be considered.  I put him in the 2nd category, but do think he's perhaps in a grey area between.

I thought your chess example was an argument for #1.  But I'm not sure it's fair to say he "plays" chess when his opponents are told to let him win, so I counter with #2.

The late Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan deserve some kudos for crafting a great script to begin with.

Gary Kurtz for being a good producer and not a yes man.

Mark, Carrie, and Harrison, who in spite of their personal problems public and private at the time, gave it 110%, and didn't phone it in.

Frank Oz, for making us believe a little green rubber puppet was a living creature.

And the rest of a great cast, who made you believe in those characters even if you never saw their faces or heard their real voices.

This could potentially be a really long list. Just watch the closing credits of the film instead. ;)

100% agreed.

I think it's actually hard to put Chewie in either category.  I wrote that at the end of that post, once upong a time...  but for reasons I forgot I excised it before posting.

I see your point, but the growling thing, and the lack of clothes, I think, makes him more alien that some of the other aliens in the movie(s).

However, he is more human than the ewoks, etc.

Should I make my own IN SPAAAAAAAACE thread or just post in ABC/Leguman's IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE thread?
Time

So, this isn't exactly what I wanted this thread to be... but, hey!  You know sometimes real life intervenes.  So, instead of asking whether I should create an original IN SPAAAAAAAACE thread, the question is now whether I should create my own IN SPAAAAAAAACE thread or just continue to post in ABCuman's IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE thread.

And I realize I was a bit hasty in suggesting you make your own thread in response to mine previously.  Perhaps you should suggest making your own thread in either the New Thread Thread or the Ideas For New Threads Thread.  And then, if it is accepted by the community, then you can make your own response thread.

Thank you for your consideration.

It's just a hometheatre recliner (black, if you must know) with the legs replaced with the servos.  It doesn't look like much.

EDIT: This isn't mine, and it doesn't look exactly the same... but it's pretty darn close.

I know the BTTF movies are compatible, but I didn't think the ride was.  Where did you hear that?

Oh and it would be a lot cheaper just for you and the 005's's's''s'ss''''ss''s' wife to come visit us in Denver and we can watch a marathon.  Now I just need more chairs.  :(  Too bad I'm broke from buying the first one.

The old "you're only as good as your last movie" argument, eh? ;)

Nah... I didn't really mean that.  What I meant was: Name one other thing that's in the same ballpark as good as ESB that Kersh had ANYTHING to do with.  If he'd made 10 awesome movies, and then one stinker, then I would be dropping the "as good as your last" argument.  I was more making a "if he was able to wrest ESB from Lucas and actually make it a good movie, he should also have a deep history of other awesome work" but I've never seen it.

I think we're all maybe suffering more from the "Anyone but George" argument.  Not that Kersh didn't do a great job... but maybe he doesn't deserve as much credit for ESB as we all want to give him.

Michael Meyers is clearly a person, though you might describe him as a "monster of a person".  I'm taking about killer sharks and whatnot as "monsters".

I think the sandpeople are clearly meant to be people.  They wear clothes, they fire guns, they eat McRibs = People.  Perhaps uncivilized, or monsters of people... but people.

Whereas a Wampa is meant to be a scary monster.  Grrr!
