The Clone Wars messes up continuity or how Lucas is still destroying star wars.

I read the first and sixth volumes of the Legacy series, and although I found the Cade character somewhat interesting, the 2-dimensional Maul-knockoffs and other repetitive junk I've come to hate from the EU overpowered anything remotely engaging and turned me right off.

Sure, the million Darths is less than inspired.  I found more to like in it than you did apparently.

Wait, you read the first TPB and then the sixth?  What happened to 2-5?  3 Is probably the best, by the way.  Can you really say you gave it a shot when you've read #1 and #6?

Can the story of the prequels be fit into only three films?
Time

Well, I typed this fantastic wall of text here and I thought to myself- I should put this into a notepad incase it fails to post... I didn't.  And it did.

So here's the crappier shorter version that I can rewrite without breaking my own heart:

1. Are you all aware of the rewrites forum here on OT.com?

2. Who expected to see Vader in 2 of the 3 PT movies?  I wanted to see him in 0 of the movies because I wanted the movies to end with the apparent death of Anakin.  I know a lot of people wanted more Vader than was had.  Just wondering how many people wanted 2 movies of Vader...

3. When laying out a structure for my mPT to follow, I came up with 4 rought movie plots.  Which isn't quite true- I came up with 4 movie endings.  Which also isn't true- I wanted mEp1 to be a light hearted romp where everything about the mPT could be established and importantly- the friendship between Anakin and Obi-Wan could be firmly established.  Then I wanted to get into the fall in mEp2 & 3, but I had 3 movie endings within that structure.  To make a long story short, I had to compress the first two structures into a single structure and I think my story was the stronger for it.  It gets into the danger a little earlier than I had wanted, and it short changes the "Obi-Wan and Anakin" are best buds timeline somewhat...  But what can you do?  You can't release 4 Episodes prior to Episode 4.

4. I had a 4 in my previous post.  I wonder what it was about?

TO BE CONTINUED!

Take a look at the Legacy books or comics - they're perfect examples of the GL sycophancy that runs rampant within the ranks of the EU writers.

Whoah whoah whoah... did you just lump the Legacy books and comics together?  You know they have absolutely nothing to do with each other, right?  And that they Legacy comic, in one disgruntled SW fan's opinion, is actually quite awesome?

005, et al.

I caught the elusive C3PX online last night and we enjoyed a legendary + tilt skull level of Halo Reach (weekly challenge AND an achievement!  w00t!).  I suggested we should get the gang back together for L4D2 again sometime soon.  He seemed up for it.

Are you and Mrs. 005 and anyone else on the forum interested in another OT.com play session?

I know we all have varying opinions on what merit there is (or isn't) in the PT, but allow me to quickly reiterate mine and that might help a few of you understand why I have gone down the "almost completely censor" approach.

I think Star Wars is irreverisibly devalued through association with the PT.  I don't keep the PTs out of their fragile lives to prevent them from liking the PT... I keep the PT out of their lives so that they'll like the OT.  I know kids are all into the Clone Wars stuff that's out, but I think that their attachment to it will be fleeting.  I doubt any of their generation will remember that crap in 30 years the way we remember Star Wars today.

I could go on, but I'll leave it there for now.

Adventures in Raising the Next Generation of Original Star Wars Fans
Time

As some of you may recall, I have struggled to create a PT-free environment in which to raise my children- AKA the next generation of OT fans- AKA our only hope.

It’s been a challenging… er… challenge.  And I have several friends/“saga” friends who think I am doing a disservice to my kids.  There’s also a sneaky cousin who likes to bring in contraband like “Commander Cody” and crap like that.

Here’s an interesting story from not too far back:

We were driving in the van somewhere with the wife and kids.  And my 7 year old son randomly asks me:

SON: Dad?
ME : Yes?
SON: How did Darth Vader turn to the Dark Side?
I share a silent look with my wife.
ME : Well… nobody knows.
SON: Oh…
ME : So… what do you think?
SON: I don’t know.  Maybe a bad guy came to him and said that he could have whatever he wanted if he joined the dark side…?
ME : Do bad guys usually tell the truth?
SON: No.
ME : Would you believe a bad guy if he came and told you that?
SON: No.
ME : What if it was someone you thouhgt was your friend?
SON: Oh, yeah!  That would be really hard!

Anyways… this is the one that really made me feel like I wasn’t wasting my time.

It was the day after Christmas and I was hanging out at Gma and Gpa xhonzi’s.  My younger brother was there, but had retreated upstairs to watch some TV without all of his nieces and nephews screaming in his ear.  It didn’t really work because there were little kids upstairs too.  So he started surfing channels and my 7 year old son wandered in.  Attack of the Clones was on one of the channels and all my son saw was: STAR WARS: Episode II: Att…  He got really excited (he got several SW toys for Christmas) and so my brother switched it on (he’s apparently not up to date on “the plan”)  After about 30 seconds of it my son, that golden boy, says to my brother:

SON: Oh… is this the Clone Wars one?
BRO: Yeah…
SON: Oh… nevermind.  I thought it was one of the good ones.

And then he walked off.  My brother told me that this had happened and it really made my day.  It was like… Christmas.  I asked my son about it later and asked what exactly made him decide that the “Clone Wars one” wasn’t worth watching.

SON: You said they were dumb.
ME : … <slightly caught off guard>
SON: Aren’t they?
ME : Oh!  Oh, yes.  They are really dumb.  They’re not worth watching.  They bring the average way down.

And then the DSXII blows up.

THE END.

Has anyone found a version of the RotS review that I can download?  I usually put his reviews on my [mobile mp3/video device] since I don't want to spend the time sitting in front of my laptop... but blip.tv doesn't have a download option or apparently work with jdownloader or keepvid.  RLM used to offer DVD versions of his reviews on his site... or did I make that up?
